personality. lorelei is a very quiet girl, she never really puts herself out there and sticks to the few people she knows. she keeps to herself a lot and never really opens up to others or expresses her feelings. she is very soft spoken and gentle and being around her could probably make anyone feel perfectly safe. she has a huge caring nature though despite being so shy and quiet. she always puts others first before herself and takes cares of anyone she is close to a whole lot. she has a lot of compassion and empathy for those less fortunate than herself or going through some tough time like she is. she is very understanding and a person to go to if you need someone to listen or comfort you. she's a really calm person for the most part and never does anything too extravagant. she likes to stick with things she's used to and doesn't change a whole lot or take risks. she's a bit sensitive though and can get upset rather easily, mostly because of how her relationship with her mother had been while growing up and because of how her life is right now with what happened with her baby and her past relationship. she doesn't like people being mean to her and she has a hard time handling criticism or people getting angry with her. she's very observant and quite good at being able to read how other people are feeling and she is pretty much always aware of her surroundings. she is a hard worker and someone you can usually count on to get things done no matter what. she is terrible at handling her stress though and gets stressed rather easily which is something she wants to try and work on but never really does. she's quite musically gifted and knows how to play a fair amount of instruments and can sing very well though she's very shy about that talent. she's extremely cautious and always takes precautions with pretty much everything as she always fears the worst and wants to be as safe as possible because she doesn't like when things go wrong or when she gets hurt. she's very passive and vague too, she never speaks up and is terrible with giving good direct answers and she also hates confrontation. she's a bit of an emotional wreck (can you blame her?) but she doesn't like to admit it because she hates feeling too weak. 

backstory. she grew up in seattle her whole life and it was pretty fine until her mother became pregnant with her younger brother and her parents relationship got really rocky and they ended up divorcing. her brother was born only a few days after the divorce was finalized so her father didn't get either of them, they both stayed and were raised by their mom. since then her life wasn't good because she had a bad relationship with her mother. she was very controlling so they always fought and she was always trying to protect her brother too. she didn't have much of a happy childhood and her mother's controlling attitude towards her is part of the reason she is why she is today. as soon as she was old enough (and after some more fighting with her mom about it) she started underwear modeling in order to earn some money so she could move out and get away from her mother and afford college. she was able to do so and graduated with a degree in business with hopes to open her own animal-grooming shop one day. during that time also she had a boyfriend who she had really thought she would end up marrying. but no, she ended up getting pregnant and he left her. she had seriously considered abortion because she didn't think she could handle being a single mother freshly out of college but decided not to because she became attached and was too compassionate, she didn't want to end a human life. but all her arrangements she had made to try and help her take care of the baby were put to no good use since she ended up being a stillborn, which is something lorelei is still not over. she had gone into hermit mode for a while because of the heartbreaking experience and news but had to stop when she found out her father had been diagnosed with dementia. as soon as she heard the news she immediately made the decision to go and live with him to help take care of him, especially since she had missed out on sharing her early life with him. she needed a job when she got to new orleans so she started working at the diner because she had to make money so she could keep taking care of herself, her father and the necessities. all these things overwhelm her quite frequently along with her past baggage she is still carrying and she needs to get some help but she is too stubborn to accept any.
