Chapter Three - Stone Cold Killer

"How are the kids?"

"Oh, they're well! Sierra is sick, though. She has a fever so she can't go to school."

"What?! I wouldn't have expected her to get sick. Puesta's always the one going out and playing outside."

"Haha, I know. She'll be alright, though."

"How old are they right now, anyway?"

"Uh. Five, I think."

"Wow... It's been a year already?"

"I know! It's hard to imagine they've even met you all. Did you all really have to move?"

"Jimmy, you say this every time we're on the phone."

"I know but... I miss you all. You and your sister and the robot and the ghost and the quiet one. I wish you all could come and visit."

"I know... We'll try to come out soon, I miss seeing you all, too."

"Hm? Did someone say something? Or was that interference?"

"What- oh. You must've heard Fantic. She and I have to leave soon, so I better get ready. If you need anything, you dirtball, shoot us a text. Got it?"

"Of course! You better as well, Mal."

"Course. See you later."

The phone hung up on the other side before Jimmy could say his final goodbye. Those two were always busy with finding a job or finishing up unpacking. Despite it being a year after they moved, they had a lot of stuff left to unpack.

A quiet cough came from behind Jimmy. Surprised, he swung around, looking down at the little girl with orange hair. Her ears were down and she was coughing into her elbow, her other hand holding down her dress, a bad habit she had. Jimmy clicked his tongue, sighing softly as he picked up the little girl.

"Sierra, you should've called me up..." Sierra shook her head a little, coughing into Jimmy's shoulder, which he didn't mind.

"Are you hungry?... Or is it meddy time?..." Sierra only nodded a little. "M-meddy time..." Her voice was quiet and soft, almost hard to hear. Jimmy smiled, nodding as he walked to the kitchen. He set Sierra on the counter, opening the fridge. He looked inside, grabbing a clear bottle with pink liquid. He grabbed a small cup and poured some of the liquid in, handing it to Sierra. Sierra stared at the cup, looking back up at Jimmy.

"What? Do you not like it?" Sierra shook her head a little. Jimmy puffed up his cheeks, narrowing his eyebrows.

"Come onnnnn, Sierra, for me? Do you want me to take some, too?" Sierra nodded a little. Jimmy giggled softly, getting another small cup and pouring the liquid in it. He quickly drank it, swallowing it all before opening his mouth and showing Sierra it was all gone.

"Your turn!" Sierra giggled, nodding before slowly drinking the liquid. When she was done, Jimmy smiled and took the cup, washing them both. He picked up Sierra and walked out of the kitchen, through the living room, and up the stairs. He walked a few doors down the hall before getting to Sierra's room, walking through the already opened door. He walked in and laid Sierra down. tucking her in as he yawned.

"I'm getting... Kind of sleepy... Mind if I lay with you?..." Sierra thought for a second. She looked at Jimmy and nodded, moving over and lifting the blanket a little. Jimmy smiled, getting under the blanket and snuggling next to Sierra in the small bed that he was way too big for.

After a few minutes, the two were sleeping quietly next to each other, letting the time fly by until the rest of the family came home.

580 words...
This is probably one of my favorite introduction chapters just because the title is so off putting. Like this man is just a kind, silly father. Why would it have that type of chapter name?
