Unknown

"What do you mean you weren't the only ones who went through it?!"

"We didn't know they were there!" He squeaked in fear "The cabin near it was supposed to be empty!"

"Supposed to be?! We knew there would people there! And we told you to be prepared!"

"We... saw them get out of their car. They didn't look like threats. What could two girls and dad do?" He mumbled.

"What could?! We have two girls running around that don't exist here! They could ruin everything!"

"I know sir, b-"

"You know?! Then why didn't you and your group prepare?"

"We did! But they went through are ranks undetected and by the time we were trying to stop them they were gone. We're sorry sir"

"Who was on patrol in the area they passed?"

"Jace and Alec," He answered.

"Bring them to me, Commander Miller"

Nodding Miller scurried out the door and rushed down the hall. Breathing heavily as he passed many of his fellow commanders. Some called greetings, others nodded as he rushed passed. Weaving his way through the hallways he slowly was able to calm himself and his run turned into a brisk walk as he turned one last time.

Passing multiple doors with commanders like himself going in and out. He stopped at the door 16, and entered. Small gray and green bunks lined the walls with small dressers in between them and a small bookshelf in the back of the room.Three wooden circular tables were in the middle of the room with many occupants. Most played cards while others read books. The small amount of laughter immediately ceased and all eyes turned to him.

Shutting the door behind him he spoke "Jace, Alec, Boss wants to speak with you"

Jace the one who looked in the late 20's with black hair cut to perfection rose to his feet and Alec, who was in the late teens with brown crew cut hair followed him more uncertainty.

"It's about the two g- kids isn't it?" Alec whispered.

He nodded solemnly, mistakes were not taken lightly here and most likely punishable by death. Jace gave a disparing sigh.

"What happened?" Miller asked.

"We've already told you, we met up with Andrew, the guy that's been there for over a year gathering intel. We were talking to him making sure this was the right guy because of what happened to the last group when they brought the wrong one, when we heard voices by the portal. We were too late to stop the last girl from jumping in it." Jace answered.

"And you don't know where they ended up?" Miller asked.

"No. The coordinates were being changed and they were only part way done all we know is they are somewhere in Gotham"

"Do you at least know what they looked like?"

"We were to far away to get many details other than both of them had blond hair" Alec answered.

"At least that gives us an idea even if it is a small idea." He looked at a small clock on one the walls something he had missed when he came into the room. "We need to leave. We have stayed here too long"

Alec and Jace nodded and Miller led them to room 1 or the 'throne room' as the other commanders including himself liked to call it. Opening the door with a grim expression, which then turned to fear as he was greeted by a gunshot a few millimeters away from his right ear.

Slowly Boss lowered his gun from him and moved it to point at Jace and Alec.

With a burst of courage (quite rare for him) he yelled, "Don't shoot!"

Boss turned to glaring at him "Would you rather it be your family?"

"No! ...... but, let them explain first.... Please" Miller begged.

Boss sighed, exasperated "Fine" He grunted and then lowered his gun.

Jace stepped forward and gulped and unsteadily started to explain, while Alec whimpered behind them "While we were patrolling we met up with Andrew. The guy who has been up there for a year?" He paused with uncertainty until Boss sent a sharp glare in his direction and tightened his grip on the gun. Hurriedly he started to finish, "We asked him questions to make sure he was the right guy. When we started to hear voices we went and hid. That's around the time when one of the girls fell in and the other jumped after before we could react.... Sir"

BANG!

Miller flinched as Jace and Alec fell both of them dead before the hit the ground. Miller stared at their faces frozen before another shot nearly hit him.

"Return to your headquarters and warn the people in your sector that this" he gestured towards the bodies "is what happens when you defy me."

Miller nodded and ran out the door without looking back.

No one's P.O.V

"Are you really just going to let him go?"

Boss rolled his eyes and turned in his seat to look at the scientist. "Of course not Dr. Strange, he will die tomorrow with his sector and his family will die tonight"

Dr. Strange let a sinister smile creep over his lips and laughed. "Better make it pretty. Save one of the bodies for me they'll make good test subjects"

Boss smiled with him and nodded then turned serious "Do you have a way to find those kids?"

"Working on it should be done soon. In the meantime, I called our allies to keep an eye for two girls who don't seem to belong here."

"Good, good. And what of the Joker has he joined us and the others?"

"Only the Joker the others were cowards and have been dealt with"

"What about Joker's women?

"Joker doesn't want her to know says she'll be a weak link"

"So that leaves us with who?"

"Joker, Deathstroke, Ra's, Killer Croc, Captain Cold, Cheetah, Lex Luthor, Gorilla Grod, and Brick,"

Boss nodded "And what of the Bat?"

"He is unaware of our activities. As well of the rest of his clan" Dr. Strange said smugly.

Boss slowly got up from his chair grimacing slightly despite the fact that his chair was lined with some of the softest fabric and extremely well cushioned. "How are the others coming on the portal?"

"Follow me if you will" Dr. Strange slowing started to walk out of the 'throne room' then weaved through the hallways until finally reaching a heavily guarded door. After five minutes of unlocking the crazy amount of locks the door clicked open and they walked in.

The room was larger than you would expect with multiple computers and containers with stuff from off world. Then in the center of the room was..... a circle? The circles (made of some kind of metal) with a smaller one inside of it hummed with energy and only glowing every few seconds. The larger one had tubes that came out it that led to multiple things; computers, a Father box, containers (some of which had balls of lights which banged on the walls), and one of the largest and longest led behind a door where a light shone underneath the door. A man named Maldonado came up to them hugging a clipboard to his chest.

"Dr. Strange. We- Boss! Wha.. It's good to see you"

"What's the status of the portal?"

"Up again in 4 months"

"Faster" Boss demanded.

Maldonado adjusted his glasses a regarded Boss distastefully "We can not speed up the process any further without more advanced technology that we do not have. Now Dr. Strange if you would follow me we have matters to discuss"

Boss started to surge forward to follow Maldonado then Maldonado put up a hand stopping him.

"I said only Dr. Strange, not you. So since you are deaf or maybe just incompetent I will say it again. Dr. Strange, please follow me."

Boss glared at Maldonado as he and Dr. Strange left to discuss matters. Fury threaten to take him over the edge. He is not incompetent. He was in charge! He should be the one to discuss matters with! Not Strange no matter if oversaw most of what was going on in here. Growling out insults under his breath he turned on his heel and continued to give himself a tour of his surroundings.

There really wasn't much to see other than a few odd messengers and scientists bustling around some talking in hushed tones. Some of the containers that he had noticed coming in were interesting especially the ones that light orb things banged on it's containers walls. The circles were still the same and made out of some kind of metal and the Father box well, it just floated so he left it alone. The thing got his interest the most was the door with the light coming out from beneath it. Stepping closer to it he reached out to try the doorknob. Locked.

"No one knows what's in there except for Dr. Strange and Malonado, Sir"

Wirralling around he came to face an older woman in her mid 50's. She wore a white coat, black shoes, and a name tag which read, Nettie Symth.

"And why is that Ms. Symth?" he asked.

She shrugged her shoulders "They won't let us know. The irony right? We work powering the portal, doing their dirty work and the won't even tell us what the second most main energy source is. And they won't even pay us a reasonable sum!" She sighed. "So what are you doing here?"

"None of your concern Ms. Symth"

She glared at him and turned on her heel walking back to her desk leaving him alone.

He sighed, "Women". He looked at the door one last time before turning his back on it and walking towards the door. He stood there alone sulking before a young voice broke through the room.

"BOSS! I have a message for you!"

He glared at the young teen running towards him, "There is no need to kill my ears."

The teen blushed furiously and began to slow to a stop. "Yes, sir. Sorry, sir. I have a message for you sir"

"I am aware and so is China"

"It's from the Joker! He says he found them the two girls you are looking for. They're with him right now."

Boss smiled "Brilliant"
