| chapter twenty-six |

LEA

My breaths some in shuddery gasps, and I almost don't hear the faint shimmering sound. My eyelids are heavy, and I have to force them open. Next to me, something is forming out of midair. I watch it form, feeling myself bleeding out.

The object finishes and gently floats down, resting next to me on the road. It looks like the artifact that I had used to connect myself to the dimensions, except it is glowing blue. The blue is soft, and soothing, and I reach a hand out to grab it. A soothing sensation spreads through me, and my eyes flutter closed. My neck has stopped hurting, along with the rest of my injuries. That is the last thought I have before I drift into sleep.

When I open my eyes again, the world is shining brightly, and I blink in the sunlight until my eyes adjust. I hear birds singing from somewhere above me, and I make myself sit up. I take a deep breath, looking around me. The buildings are still ruined, and I can see a shadow drifting across the road away from me.

A deep emotional pain sweeps through me as I think of my family, and I stand up. Without even trying, I know I won't be able to transport myself to their dimension. Coming after the pain is a feeling of conciliation. This is my world now. They will be safe.

I walk through the streets, skimming a hand lightly over the houses' sides, feeling the rough texture beneath my fingertips. The monster tiger starts to walk beside me, and I rest a hand on its back as I walk. This is my world now.

THE END

Thank you all so much for reading Dimension Walker! I hope you found it enjoyable, even if it is some of my older work, I know I had fun rereading it!

Hope you all have a great rest of your day, and if you have some extra time, it would mean a lot if you checked out some of the other works on my page! <3
