Chapter 36: A Gift for Her Part 2

An Hour Later

Grocery store

Ruki's P.O.V

I stared at the baking ingredients on the store shelf. If I were going to make her something what would I make? What flavor would she like? Would she like a lot of it or a little.

I thought back to what that Kuni said. "You know what, how about you make her something sweet. They say that sweet things can heal a heart." I nodded at the older woman. Never did I think that I would be making something for Lucy. Should I make something sweet?

When it comes to her she loves yogurt. She likes things salty as well but sweet things seem to connect with her more. Maybe cheesecake? Maybe a strawberry cream roll. I paused, maybe that last one wouldn't be so bad. I began to get the ingredients. After paying for them I walked outside. The sound of rain came to my ears. I sighed to myself.  I forgot my umbrella again, meaning I would have to run.

I started to run but could feel myself getting drenched by the rain. The moment I saw a gazebo I stopped. Damn, if this rain continues for over an hour then I have to get home. "Our wedding was here once." Who knew that this would happen today?

"Though it was a small wedding, I was fine with it." I looked at the woman. "Yui"

She had a glow to her. One of beauty and happiness. I was happy that she seemed better. "You probably don't recognize me with the baby weight." I shook my head.

"You look brighter in a way." She smiled.

"Thank you"

"How are Shin and you?" She walked ahead of me. Her eye focused on the pond in front of us.

"A lot better." My heart didn't sting anymore hearing that. I nodded.

"How are Lucy and you?" My face reddened. She looked at me causing me to quickly hide my expression.

"We're getting closer."

"That sounds good." The thought of her right now was making me blush. I don't feel anything for her. No matter what I am feeling. "Hey Ruki, you seem to be in love with Lucy am I right?"

Now

Lucy's P.O.V

I looked in the refrigerator for the vegetables I would be needing for Ruki's soup. I stopped when I saw what looked like a chocolate cream roll. The decorations on top were cute and on closer observation, I could tell that the filling inside was strawberry. A small note card was on the side of it. Reading it made my cheeks blush. "Ruki" I could feel a smile play upon my lips.

Oh no, I am starting to cry again. I was grateful for his generosity. I was grateful for him always being here. I was grateful for him. When you love someone, you can have your heart broken by them, but when you have good people around you, it can speed the healing process.

Ruki's P.O.V

I don't know why she hasn't returned. It's been a while, hasn't it? I looked out the window to see the soft snowfall to the ground. We finally reached December. That means that Lucy has three months her job is done. Is it strange to say that I didn't want her to leave? The door opened causing me to look at it. The sound of a few bowels caught my ear. "Ruki"

"Yes Lucy" Her arms wrapped around me. She buried her head between my neck.

"Thank you"
