Bani's POV

Engagement Night

Our house was well lit with fairy lights and lilies.I loved lilies.

All the guests had gathered and we were now waiting for the singhania family. My family to be.

"Woh log aa gaye "

Meera Di said and I lowered my gaze with a shy smile.

"Uff, my sister is blushing."

She said teasing me.

"Di, don't tease me!! "

She chuckled.

" Accha now tell me, aaj meri engagement hein. What did you get for me? "

I said changing the subject.

"Well, I have brought your favourite.. "

She said forwarding her hand.

"Rabdi.. "

Rabdi!!!!

I smiled joyously. Rabdi's were my favourite.

"Thank you Di "

I said taking a small bite as Di Smiled even more.

I took a spoon and even fed Di.

"Bas bas mujhe mat jyada khila.. Apne Teeranshu ke liye bacha kar rakh.. "

She said Apne Teeranshu and I blushed.

What has gotten into. Itna blush karungi toh shadi tak toh ladki se tamatar hi ban jana hein.

"Accha di you tell me.. What are you gifting him..? "

"Which him..? "

She said pulling my leg more.

" You know which him I am talking about"

"Ohh you mean your him.. Humare jijaji"

Meera di said.

"Kyun tang kar rahi ho meri behen ko.. "

Tapish jiju got in.

"Dekhiye na jiju mujhe kitna tang karti hein ye.. "

I said standing behind jiju.

"Tumne abhi tak isse mujhe tang karte huye nahi dekha Bani isiliye tumhe ye zyada lag raha hein."

He said and we laughed.

"Ahem.. Ahem.. "

We heard Meera di.

"Bohot hasi aa rahi hein tum dono ko.. "

"No Meera.. You know I was kidding.. "

Tapish jiju said taking a 360° turn and I wanted to laugh more seeing them banter.

They were the cutest pair.

"Aap dono ka hogaya toh main engagement karlu.. "

They both looked at me in shock and I laughed even more.

"Sure Bani. Come down soon. Also my sister in law is looking like a fairy today. "

He said putting his hand on my head.

"Thank you Jiju "

He smiled and left.

"Let's go Bani."

I nodded.

"Also, I am giving the best gift to my jijaji. The sweetest gift. Even more sweeter than your Rabdi. "

Di said.

"And what's that..? "

I asked and she made me look into the mirror while hugging me from back. My eyes filled with tears and I turned and hugged her back.

"Kya Di.. Sabse coolest Di se rulane wali Di kaise ban gayi aap.. "

I said controlling my tears. Almost sounding like a baby.

"Abb bas kar , mujhe makeup wapis karna padega.. "

We chuckled.Our bond was a very cherished bond in my life.

Me and Meera Di started moving down. We moved downstairs and that's when my eyes locked with his.

He had a placid expression spread across his face. And I was trying to read his soul. I couldn't decipher him somehow. I then saw the black kurta that he wore and honestly I was a little disappointed .

I wore a white lehenga with pearl and diamond studded jewelries. And left my hair open, just like how he liked.

"Khule balon main behad khubsurat lagti ho "

I remember his text.

I thought we will be wearing white today just like the first day when we started to speak with each other. I mean he looked devilishly handsome, no doubt but still.

Come on Bani don't over react. It's fine. Be happy it's your day.

I walked down and stood beside him. I was stealing glances of him. I had not seen him since the day he came to my house as he was busy with his deal. But he didn't look at me even once.

He didn't even compliment me once.
What was with him and his "bahar koi emotion nahi dikhaunga syndrome "

I sighed internally.

That's when Dad came and stood beside me.

"Aaja beta tujhe tere naye parivar se milata hoon.. "

He said and gave a small smile to Teeranshu. Teeranshu smiled back.

Thoda mujhe dekhkar bhi smile karlo.

I walked with dad and saw Balwant uncle first.

I touched his feet and he stopped me midway.

"Betiyan pair nahi chuti "

I smiled.

"Bohot pyari lag rahi ho beta. Mera Teer wakai bohot lucky hein.. "

I smiled even more as Aunty hugged him.

"Thank you Aunty"

"Aunty nahi beta.. Maa kehne ki aadat lagalo."

" Okay.. Maa. "

I said meekly.

"Toh aap hein humari pyari devrani ji.. "

I turned and looked at the beautiful Lady. Of course I knew her. Teeranshu had sent me a picture of her. She was Bela Bhabhi. Dressed in a beautiful white lehenga and choker . Elegant and beautiful.

"Bela Bhabhi.. "

I said softly and Bhabhi smiled.

"Ohhoo.. So someone has already introduced you to us.. "

She said teasing me and everybody chuckled. I looked at Teeranshu but he was lost somewhere else . Now I was a little worried. Why was he acting this way? Was he okay?

My mind wandered as I heard a baby's cry. I turned to look at Mahir Bhai and a little Mihir in his arms.

Mihir was even more cuter than in the pics.

"Can I hold him.. ? "

" Sure Bani. Humara Mihu bhi toh apni chachi se milega.. "

Bela Bhabhi said and Mahir bhai gave me Mihir with a smile on his face.
I held Mihir and started patting him gently. To our surprise Mihir 's cries instantly stopped and he smiled a little holding my little finger.

AWWWWW

Everybody said and I smiled.

"Looks like Mihu really loves his Chachi."

"Beta Engagement ka time hogaya hein.. "

Dad said and I gave Mihu to Bhabhi.

I suddenly realised that everybody had wore White today except for him. And I frowned a little.

"Bhabhi aap sab ne white pehena hein par..? "

"Actually Me and Veer decided white for all but Teer and his favouritism to Black. Ye ladka kuch manta kaha hein.. "

Veeranshu. Teeranshu's twin. I had not met him yet.

Teeranshu had once Mentioned to me that his brother was very different from him.

Hopefully he doesn't sulk in public.
I said internally pouting in anger.Okay not exactly anger but a little dejection.
I walked beside Teeranshu. Everybody's eyes we're on us.

Bela Bhabhi brought the ring for Teeranshu while Meera di brought the ring for me.

Teeranshu held the ring and kept looking at it.

Was he having second thoughts?

"Teer beta.. Anguthi pehnao.. "

Balwant uncle said and Teeranshu finally looked at me.

He held my hand and I didn't want to leave it forever.

I had this weird feeling in my mind but at the same time all our conversations running in my mind. The way he understood me. The way he cared about me. The way he professed his love through all his actions.

He put the ring in my finger and I looked at it. The ring had had lily in it. I looked at him with a huge grin. He did it for me. He knew it was my favourite. He gave a soft smile and all the bad thoughts in my mind flew away.

I loved him. A little too much. And these small gestures kept increasing my love for him.

Everybody clapped and showered flowers on us.

Then Meera di extended the ring box and I held it. I was about to put the ring in his finger when the ring slipped from my hand.

I gasped. The ring slipped and stopped in front of someone. The person bent to pick it up. As he stood I looked at him a little surprised.

That was Veeranshu Singhania. Dressed in a white kurta. He was an exact replica of My Teeranshu.

But there was something different about him. He stood their looking at me with a longing gaze. Unlike Teeranshu's eyes that were void of emotions, Veeranshu's eyes we're full of them.

I could see a soft happiness, longing and pain. All three of them in one.

He moved forward still looking at me. He came in between Me and Teeranshu as he handed over the ring to me. I took the ring as our fingers brushed a little and I felt a jolt by a mere touch.

"Veer Tu aa gaya! Kitni der kardi!"

Chandrakala maa said getting us out of this strange trance.

"Sachmuch bohot der kardi.. "

He said and I felt a pain in my chest. What's happening with me..?

"Chalo beta anguthi pehnao.. "

I heard Dad and put the ring in Teeranshu's finger.

Everybody clapped and I smiled.

Teeranshu also smiled a little.

My eyes wandered to Veeranshu. He was clapping but his eyes.. Why we're they telling some other story.

I brought my attention back and saw the ring on my finger and looked at Teeranshu.

Everything felt like a dream..

But maybe it was time for the reality to set in..
