(54) searching for his lifeline
Hai .
Hello ..
Happy reading
Pallavi slowly opens her eyes, disoriented and groggy. The room is pitch dark, the only sound is her shallow breathing echoing in the suffocating silence. Her head pounds, and as she tries to move, she realises her hands and legs are tightly bound with coarse ropes. She winces as the ropes bite into her skin, leaving deep red marks. Her heart races as she struggles to free herself, but the blinds are too tight.
"Where am I?" she whispers to herself, her throat dry.
Just then, the creaking sound of a door fills the room. Pallavi freezes, her breath caught in her throat. A tall figure steps inside, shrouded in darkness. Adjusting to the faint light from the hallway outside, she squints to make out his face, but it's unrecognisable. Yet, his aura is suffocating, reeking of danger and something deeply disgusting.
"Kaun ho tum?" Pallavi groans, her voice filled with fear but laced with defiance as she watches his tall, intimidating figure move closer.
( Who are you? )
"Tum mujhe itni jaldi bhul gayi, baby doll?" The man chuckled darkly, his voice oozing menace.
(You forgot me so soon, baby doll?)
The moment she hears "baby doll," her heart stops. A chill runs down her spine, her breath catches, and terror grips her entire being. She knows who he is. Her mind goes blank, her voice trembling as she stammers,
"Av... Avyansh Khanna?"
The man steps into the faint light, revealing his face. It's him , Avyansh Khanna, the man everyone thought had perished in the fire. He smirks, enjoying the fear flickering in Pallavi's eyes.
"Haan, wahi Avyansh Khanna hoon jo sabko lagta hai ki uss aag mein mar gaya tha. Lekin zinda hoon sirf tumhe paane ke liye," he growls, his voice low and sinister.
(Yes, the same Avyansh Khanna everyone thought died in that fire. But I'm alive, only to claim you.)
Pallavi's pulse races. Her skin crawls at his words, but she forces herself to remain strong.
"Only in your dreams, you bastard!" she groans, wiggling violently to free herself, but the ropes dig deeper into her skin.
Avyansh's smirk fades, his eyes darkening with rage. In an instant, he grabs a fistful of her hair, yanking her head back brutally. Pallavi screams in pain as he drags her towards him, his grip tightening.
"Chup kar! Tumhara baap bhi yeh hi bola tha... maine usse maar daala. Dead body ko railway track par daal diya tha," he snarls, his face inches away from hers, his breath hot and foul.
(Shut up! Your father said the same thing... so I killed him. Dumped his dead body on the railway tracks.)
Pallavi's eyes widened in shock, her pain momentarily forgotten.
"Ahhhh! Kya tumne? Baba ko... tumne maar diya?" she cries out, her voice trembling with disbelief. Despite the throbbing pain in her scalp, she can't help but ask.
( What did you say? My father... you killed him?)
Avyansh laughs cruelly.
"Haan. Yes. One day, he saw your pictures on my laptop, and he was filled with rage. I had no choice but to kill him." He continues, his voice dripping with hatred,
"And I dragged you onto the streets to make you mine. But you stood like a rock in front of me. And when I tried to break you by blackmailing, Anirudh saved you, leaving me to die in that fire."
Pallavi's eyes blaze with fury.
"And I am still that rock, you can't break me." she growls, despite the overwhelming fear gripping her heart.
Avyansh's face twists in anger. He slams her head back again, tightening his grip on her hair, forcing her to look up at him.
"Scream, baby doll, scream! Your screams will calm the beast inside me." he sneers, his voice dripping with sadistic pleasure
Pallavi clenches her teeth, her eyes blazing with fury. She refuses to give him the satisfaction. Despite the unbearable pain shooting through her scalp, she stays silent.
"You made the biggest mistake of your life by marrying Arjun." Avyansh hisses, his voice low and threatening
Pallavi glares at him, her voice defiant even in pain.
"Your countdown has begun. Arjun won't spare you now." she groans through gritted teeth.
Avyansh chuckles darkly, his eyes filled with malice.
"I'll find peace in your pain. I'll give you the same suffering I went through." he growls, grabbing a metal rod from one of his men
Without warning, he strikes her brutally across her legs. Pallavi gasps, her legs throbbing with pain. But she doesn't scream. The next blow lands across her side, and she shuts her eyes, trying to control herself from screaming.
"Enough of this bravado," Avyansh spits, tossing the rod aside. He grabs a bucket of ice-cold water and throws it over her. Pallavi gasps at the sudden shock of cold, her body convulsing, but she doesn't give him the satisfaction of a scream. Tears well in her eyes, but she swallows her pain.
"Ab maan bhi jao, Pallavi. Tumhara Arjun nahi aane wala tumhe bachane ke liye. Surrender karo," Avyansh sneers, a sinister smile on his face.
( Give up, Pallavi. Arjun isn't coming to save you. Surrender. )
Pallavi takes heavy breaths, her body wracked with pain, but her spirit is unbreakable. "I'm not afraid of you, Avyansh. You're a coward," she mumbles through gritted teeth.
(I'm not afraid of you, Avyansh. You're a coward.")
Avyansh presses his foot against her hand, grinding his heel into her flesh. Pallavi screams in agony as the weight crushes her fingers, but even in her pain, her determination doesn't falter.
"Let's see how long it takes for your husband to find you."Avyansh grins sadistically.
Pallavi's body trembled with pain, every nerve ablaze, yet her mind remained sharp. The darkness around her only heightened the senses that could still function
She could hear Avyansh's boots clinking against the concrete floor as he circled her, like a predator toying with his prey. Despite her battered state, she refused to let him see her fear. Not now, not ever.
Avyansh crouched beside her, lifting her chin roughly with two fingers, forcing her to meet his dark, malicious gaze.
"I know you still think you're enduring all this for your Arjun. But understand, Pallavi, you're alone. He's not coming here." he whispered, his words laced with venom
"He will come. He'll drag a coward like you through the dirt." Pallavi gritted her teeth, her jaw clenched , she hissed, barely managing to speak through the pain.
For a brief second, Avyansh's expression darkened, but he quickly replaced it with a smirk. His hand dropped from her chin, only to slap her hard across the face. The force of it sent Pallavi's head whipping to the side, her lip splitting open, blood trickling down her chin.
Avyansh's face twisted with rage. He grabbed Pallavi by her hair once more, yanking her head back to force her to look at him. "
Pallavi's vision blurred from the pain, her body at its breaking point. But she forced herself to smile, blood staining her teeth.
As Pallavi lay there, her mind clung to the image of Arjun , his face, his touch, his love. She knew that wherever he was, he would feel her pain. And he would come for her.
"Soon," she whispered, the word barely leaving her lips before darkness claimed her.
******************
The early morning air was heavy with tension as Arjun's eyes darted around, his breath quickening with each second. His heart pounded in his chest, each beat a painful reminder that Pallavi was still missing. As expected, Abrahm didn't hesitate, now joining the frantic search for Pallavi, his focus solely on finding her.
On another front, Janvi was working her contacts. As an MLA, her network was vast, and she knew how to use it. Her determination was unwavering, her influence spread far and wide, rivalling even Arjun and Abhram's resources.
Aman, while not as powerful as Arjun, had a unique advantage. His sources in the black market were invaluable. The underworld, the slums-these were areas where Avyansh Khanna's minions roamed. Aman was combing through the darkest corners of Mumbai, his men relentless in their pursuit.
But despite all their efforts, four long hours had passed since Pallavi's kidnapping, and they still had no lead on her whereabouts. The clock now struck 3 a.m., and the weight of the silence was crushing.
Anant and Adit stood by, watching Arjun with helplessness. This was a man known for his calm composure, but tonight, his panic was palpable. For the first time since his mother's death, he was losing control, his fear and frustration bubbling to the surface.
Suddenly, a flicker of hope. Pallavi's watch, synced to their systems, showed movement. A location popped up on the screen, a factory on the outskirts of the city.
"Mil gaya! Signal aa gaya!"Adit's voice broke the tension, his finger pointing at the GPS.
(Found it! The signal has come through! )
Arjun didn't waste a second. He, Anant, and Adit rushed to their cars, the engine roaring to life as they sped toward the location. Adit quickly informed Abhram and Aman. They would need reinforcements, especially since the Black Soul organisation had been hit hard in the blast. Many guards had lost their lives, and key members Neil and Vipul were still hospitalised, fighting for theirs.
When Aman and Abhram arrived at the factory, it became painfully clear, it was a trap. Avyansh Khanna had set them up. Arjun's frustration boiled over. With a furious roar, he slammed his fist into the side window of his car. The glass shattered, splintering into a million pieces. Blood began to seep from his hand, but Arjun didn't flinch. The physical pain was nothing compared to the agony in his heart.
He slumped down beside the car, leaning against the cold metal as if the weight of the world was pressing down on him. He could almost feel Pallavi's suffering, her fear, her pain. His chest tightened with guilt, every thought of her a stab to his soul.
"I'm sorry, I'm really, really sorry, Pallavi. Yeh sab meri wajah se ho raha hai..." His voice was barely a whisper, the guilt choking him.
( I'm sorry, Pallavi. This is all happening because of me...)
"If I had confessed my love sooner... if I hadn't left you, none of this would've happened." He buried his face in his hands, blood smearing his cheeks.
The sound of temple bells rang faintly in the distance, cutting through his thoughts. Arjun's eyes opened, and a memory rushed back to him.
Flashback
"Arjun, aap mere Mahadev ko aise blame nahi kar sakte, samjhe?" Pallavi had said firmly, her voice gentle yet unwavering.
(Arjun, you can't blame my Mahadev like that, understand? )
"I'm not blaming anyone, my love. But he has a heart of stone. Otherwise, he wouldn't have let my mother die such a painful death." Arjun had frowned, his eyes focused on his laptop screen, refusing to meet her gaze.
"My mother believed in him, prayed to him every day, but he didn't even think twice before letting her burn." His voice was cold, laced with bitterness.
**"Main maanta hoon, maa ke saath jo hua woh galat tha. Lekin yeh bhi toh sach hai, ki sab kuch pehle se decide hota hai."**
"I know what happened to our mother was wrong. But it's also true that everything is decided beforehand."Pallavi had sighed, sitting beside him.
"And my little sister? What was her mistake that she left this world before even seeing it?"Arjun had finally looked at her, pain etched across his face.
A tear had slipped down his cheek as the memories of his mother and unborn sister overwhelmed him.
"One day, Arjun, you'll understand that everything happens according to Mahadev's will." Pallavi had placed her hand on his.
**********"
The temple bells rang again, pulling Arjun out of his thoughts. He stood up, his eyes wide with realisation. "Pallavi!" he whispered, his heart racing.
Without warning, he sprinted toward the sound, a man possessed by a single thought, finding Pallavi. Anant, Adit, and the others followed, unsure of what had taken hold of him, but trusting his instincts nonetheless.
Arjun's feet stumbled as he reached the temple, his eyes locked onto the idol of Mahadev. With a single, forceful motion, he struck the temple bell, the loud, resonant sound echoing in the air. His heart was heavy, his mind in turmoil, but his steps didn't falter as he moved to stand before the deity.
He folded his hands, his eyes misting over as he gazed at Mahadev's serene face, a stark contrast to the storm raging inside him.
"Theek hai, main haar gaya hoon... aur aap jeet gaye." His voice cracked, barely above a whisper, filled with raw emotion.
(Fine, I've lost... and you've won.)
He took a shaky breath, his hands trembling in front of the idol as he continued, his words spilling out like a broken dam.
" 20 saal ki iss ladaai ko, finally Pallavi ne khatam kar diya. Aur ab main aapke saamne haath jod kar bheek maang raha hoon..."
(;This twenty-year battle, Pallavi ended it. And now, I stand before you, folding my hands, begging...)
His knees buckled slightly, and he felt a wave of vulnerability crash over him, something foreign and unwelcome, but inescapable. He dropped his head lower.
"Mujhse dushmani hai, toh mujhse le lijiye. Lekin meri karmon ki saza Pallavi ko mat dijiye." His voice shook, laced with desperation.
( If your enmity is with me, then take it out on me. But don't punish Pallavi for my actions.")
The tears he had been holding back finally flowed freely, streaking down his cheeks. His voice broke, but he continued.
"Uski koi galti nahi ki. Agar koi galti hai, toh yeh hai ki usne mujhse pyaar kiya..."His heart ached as he spoke, each word heavy with guilt.
( She's done nothing wrong. If she's made any mistake, it's that she loves me...)
"Please... usse bacha lijiye. Please..." He dropped to his knees, pressing his palms together tightly.
("Please... save her. Please...)
The others stood behind him, watching in silence. Even the coldest among them, hardened by battles and betrayals, felt a lump form in their throats. A tear rolled down Abhram's cheek as he watched his brother fall apart. Aman and Anant exchanged a glance, each feeling the weight of Arjun's anguish.
Just then, Abhram's phone rang. He blinked through his tears, pulling it out of his pocket. Seeing the name on the screen " Janvi" his heart skipped a beat. He answered quickly.
"Abhi, Pallavi ka location mil gaya hai,"Janvi's voice was hurried, but certain. "Mere aadmi ne Avyansh Khanna ki gaadi Mumbai ke outskirts mein dekhi. Unhone uss jagah ka talash kar liya, aur Avyansh ka pata chal gaya. Tum log abhi ke abhi waha jao, main location bhej rahi hoon."
("Abhi, we've found Pallavi's location. My men spotted Avyansh Khanna's car on the outskirts of Mumbai. They've tracked the place, and we know where he is. Go there right now; I'm sending the location.")
Without wasting another second, she cut the call.
Abhram turned to Arjun, his voice low but urgent.
"Location mil gaya hai. Humne Avyansh ka pata chala liya hai."
(We have the location. We've found Avyansh.)
The fire in Arjun's eyes reignited. He pushed himself up from the ground, his sorrow momentarily replaced with purpose. But just as he stormed toward the temple entrance, he stopped abruptly.
Turning back, his eyes met the idol once more. For a moment, the temple was silent save for the lingering hum of the bell he had struck earlier.
Slowly, Arjun stepped forward and reached out, placing his hand on Mahadev's feet. He closed his eyes and gently pressed his hand against his forehead, as if drawing strength from the deity.
"Aapki kripa se, Pallavi ko wapas le aaunga." He whispered, a soft prayer to the God he had once resented.
(With your grace, I will bring Pallavi back.)
Then, without looking back, he turned and marched out of the temple, his heart resolute, followed closely by Abhram, Anant, Adit, and Aman. Their pace quickened as they moved, each step filled with renewed determination. The battle wasn't over yet, but they were ready to face whatever came their way, together.
