Nest
Everything had a starting place. Just like a bird comes from a nest of eggs. Though what happens if the starting place isn't a pleasant one? What do you do if you learn that something dastardly had been created? Digimon Ghost Game! N.E.S.T Program
Shiramon went patrolling with Clockmon as Mei looked over the case file. Mei held the vanilla colored file in her hands. She had texted Hiro about it. He greatly improvised to NOT read it without them till they returned.
Mei normally would have listenef, or at least act like she did. Those with these strange "Dark Mist" cases seeming to hold a much more entailing story that meets the eye. As one who is the best information gatherer as she was, this case was completely knew to her. The digimon involved were influenced by a powerful force. The look of fear in Zilda eyes meant that whoever was responsible would keep this story butied in the dark.
Another reason that Shiramon went with Clockmon was because of another incident. Before ever meeting Hiro and their friends, Mei was on a case that was given to her by an old friend. To investigate a trafficking ring of digi egg. The eggs were being sold by buyers who seem to want the digimon within them as slaves.
After discovering that, Shiramon Wrath Sin Code glrew for the very first time after becoming Mei partner. Mei was barely able to get Shiramon off those smugglers. There was blood pools everywhere. The screams could still be heard to this day. So whenever a case involving children comes across Mei desk, Shiramon is FORIBBEN from going on it.
Not that they were getting along well as of late. Ever since their fight, the two haven't spoken to each other. The only exception was on cases. Other than that, people could mistaken them as two strangers that hardly knew each other.
Mei had been silent to her friends too. They just assume it be from her lung being strain. Though that wasn't the reason at all. Truth be to that she chose to be silent. Keeping talking to the bare minimum as she possibly could. Her actions and reasons could only cause those she cared about pain.
Hiro's Disappointment.
Ruli betrayed expression.
The angry rant that her detective friend gave her. Busy as they were, they had dcolded her like she got sent to office.
Kiyo even had mustered enough courage to yell at her. Normally he be too much of a scaredy cat to ever do that. He had surely changed after facing his own demons and flaws in the Sin Code arcs. In that moment alone, he feared nothing.
If only that moment could last forever. Maybe then he wouldn't get into as much trouble as a damsel in distress. Who knows how long he would have survive if not for them.
Mei look at the ceiling for a few moments. Clearing her mind before going to open the file. Preparing her minds defenses for whatever secrets they contained. With a deep breath, she opened the file. Ready for whatever lies with in their contents it held.
Project Nest
Network Enchanced Super Troopers.
Purpose and creator redacted.
Mei sighed. She should have figured that such information wouldn't come so easily.
Most of the file had either been redacted, erased, or destroyed. Mostly by a type of black ink.
Just who messes with a file this bad.
Mei flipped through the file a bit more. She then found something unique. There was a list of countries in the file: America, Brazil, Japanese, Hawaii, Scottland, Australia, France, India, Italy, and Mexico. Quite odd once looked at. Why were a list of countries in the file to begin with? Mei still considered at least somewhat of a clue.
There were a few report logs in the file too. Mei began to look into them. Still no name or reason behind why Project N.E.S.T was made.
Oh how this peak her curiousity even more.
There were exactly 10 reports on what appeared to be soilder bios. No name or bpicture though.
Whoever made this file truly was a master of secrecy. Clearly nothing in this suppose project wanted to remain in the dark. Like Mei like to keep her past a secret.
Even Shiramon doesn't look into her little book.
File 1:
The tests are running smoothly. The subject seems to be adapting to "IT" quite well. They seems to able to channel the power will. Further testing does need to commence but we believe that we found the result that we worked so hard come true. We might even begin field testing. Now if only we could get them to be more compliant to our tests and orders. In time they should. It is an effect of "IT". May they be our most strongest source of defense. The trouble to get them all can not be for vain! Each have been selected personally by our director for this project alone. Lives will be in the fate of these ten subjects. Soon even cyber attacks will no longer be a worry in man kind mind. It does pain me that we had to resort to this, but we can not wait for the so call "chosen to appear again. How do we know that they will come in time to stop the dangers that always tend to follow when "The situation" happens? We need to take this risk in case we are unprepared. The subject seems to be complete today's tests. We shall return it to it's room-
Wait....No...nonononono!
"IT" is overwhelming the subject. We must contain them before it is far too late.
The first file seem to indicate a lab of some kind. The writer of the file was either a scientist or an observer of one. The mention of a director could mean that the "Dark Mist" or "IT"as it is called, was indeed caused by mankind.
Mei sighed angrily at this. Can't humanity not interfere with matters like for once?! Like seriously, there just somethings that man kind was never meant to tamper with. Movies have made that fact very VERY clear.
Those the "chosen" confused Mei. What were they talking about. Who or what was this "chosen"? Could they mean digimon. Could they be talking about digimon like their partners? If that was the case then why? According to what Mei knew already, digimon have their fated child that they are destine to meet. Could it be about humans forcing partnerships?
Then were did Koi fit in?
The tea that Mei had prepared went ice cold as she looked into the second report. May it hold more answers than the previous one.
Otherwise, Mei would feel as dumb as Hiro was to Math. She hated to fail. Hiro may do it for attention.
Hokuto may have given is son his trouble magnet aura. It would make sense since Hokuto always gives Hiro the trouble to begin with. Mei fully intented to beat him for the numberous situations that he put his own son through.
How can a father do this to his own son? He rather cause more chaos than provide vauble answers to Hiro who desperately needs them.
Mei went back to the file before she got side track. Though she made sure to keep beating up Hokuto on the top of her priorities.
Her detective friend would most likely pretend to talk her out of it. They try to be her voice of reason whenever she steered towards the path of violence. However when it came to Hokuto, they would gladly assist her in giving the man a world of pain. Then if by some astrayed accident had killed the man then they assist her in scrubbing the case from public eyes. Choose the less likely place that the cops would search for the body. Finally, they give Hokuto the most uncomfortable burial in the history of mankind.
Mei would gladly do so if it wasn't illegal. Hiro deserved far better to. He needed it after how many times he barely avoided death.
File 2:
Subject 2 is being expose to trying to control it. We developed a much more controllable variant of "IT" into their system. we observed thst they seem to handle it just as well as our first subject. Even hours later after recieving "IT", they still have far more control over it then Subject one ever did. Our tests have provided much more promising results with this one. Though it seems that subject to has been becoming more and more robotic like than they should. This result greatly angered the director to the point that subject two was re cobtained and ordered never to be tested again. The director claimed that they wanted troopers that could still hold emotions and were not bend on the mission alone. Thst the subjects were still living creatures that should still be able to live ordinary lives after the mission. Due to this, subject two never went into testing again and their emotional stste could never be returned to normal. The results we seek were found but the effects on the subject itself seem to need more work.
Subject two was labelled as a failure. The organization also replaced the director after that. Claiming that they were much to soft on the subjects. Sympathize with them.
Despite Subject two sounding much like Koi, Mei started to believe the figure with Puppetmon could be them. Like Koi, they were able to manipulate the mist the way that they wanted. Yet they showed little emotion or personality just as the file described Subject two.
This only meant that children were the subjects being talked about in these reports. Does that meant that Koi and Zilda were also exposed to the "Dark Mist"? Who in their right mind would do this to children?
Mei was glad that Shiramon wasn't around to learn this. She would have gone ballistic from hearding this. Knowing personal how it feels to be forced to become something that one had never desired to be.
Mei could feel her own anger spike. The orginization just replaced a man that was only sympathizing with these kinds. Just for that action alone they were replaced. Made it clear that anyone who felt pity on the children would be replaced by one's who weren't the faintest of heart.
Truly it was becoming as sick as what HE did to Shiramon and the other Sin Code Digimon.
File Three:
Subject Three weak body is becoming a major set back to our plans. Their emotions are constantly interfering with the tests. Injecting "IT" into their system became even more of a challenge. They had far more will power to resist us. The only way to force them to comply was by threatening them. What the threats were was never revealed, though to completely make Subject Three obey us must be extremely grave to their heart. Subject Three could not handle "IT" as well as the others had before them. Their body apparently rejected it. Making efforts to expel it. The new director ordered them to be terminated. They claimed that one who showed the most promise had now become the project most disappointing setback. The higher ups thankifully refused that request. Thus, Subject Three was sent to their room to never be disturb until the higher-ups approved otherwise. Days later it seem that "IT" had been much more brutal to their body and subject three pased away. The body was study that such unfortunate consqueses would not come up again. That was the start of making the necessary medicines for the remaining subjects to handle "IT" better. We labeled Subject Three death an accidental hospital error. Though her vitals state that her body had died but her brain did not. Could be her soul? More tests are being conducted.
Mei heart snapped at what file three had just told her. They had killed a subject yet still went through with more testing. Forcing the innocent child to do tests when it was clear that their bodies could not handle it.
Just what mission was so important that it would cause them to sacrifice a life of a child like a chess player sacrifices a pawn to proceed with a move.
Mei forced herself to take a breather. If this was upseting her than imagine Hiro reasction? He probably trigger Gulus from reading this alone. Ruli couldn't stomach such things. Kiyo would have several Integer Overflows just by this alone. Her detective friend would be sick to their stomach. Not resting till all those involved would be put to justice.
As for Mei herself.....
She felt that she would go to jail for what she would do to those involved. It would be a jail sentence that she would gladly serve to. That was the amount of mercy she had for those people.
No reason or mission was worth a child losing their life.
File Four:
Subject Four can use "IT" substance properties to cause those around them to be influenced to their thoughts. Many of our security guards had been turned against us in the blink of an eye, just by being around the Subject. Some of use concerned their actions as a means of fighting us back for all we put them through. We could not say that we didn't forsee this happening. We were toying with life after all. Subject Four never has been seen getting angry or sad. That was want scared us scientists. We couldn't predicted what they were thinking behind that smiling mask thar they wore on a regular basis. The director themselves couldbe seen fearing the power that we had given Subject Four to prepare for "Incidents". We had made them our own "Chosen" as we did to the other subjects. Subject Four only flaw would be their easy to trust attitude. Their age could be a factor that influences such actions but We think of it as another one of their mind games. We put them in their room. Constantly monitored by cameras. Only willing to talk to us if we enter it's room. The Higher ups made the decision that Subject Four would only be used as a last resort for the "Incidents"
Subject Four tends to sing songs or touch a victim to gain their control over them.
Normal Mei doesn't take sides during cases such as this. It was childish and highly frown upon when taking a case. One must remain neutral to both side if one's judgement does not want to be clouded.
This was different. Mei almost could feel herself smile a bit from hearing that this orginization was fearing one of the innocent childred thst they had forced into their plans was now their most regretted mistake. They see the very danger thst they decided to create was a mistake.
Though since their were about six more files, they clearly failed to learn their lessons. Pity.
Mei looked at the remaining files. Debating whether or not that she should wait for the others to continue. With a few moments of thought and a lot more tea.
Mei decided that she should complete what she had started. The others would get mad but she was willing to take that risk.
They should know by now how Mei did things her way when it came to learning new information. It's how she got pictures of Hiro in that maid outfit when he got taken by a Rosemon. Hah, good times. Good times.
File Five:
Subject Five has "IT" in their blood stream for roughly twenty four hours. They seem not to befeected by it. That how it would appear to the un trained mind. Our janitor paid dearly for such a mistake. Subject Five had use "IT" to created a dark illusion that broke the janitor mind to the point where he could only speak in gibberish. Subject Five is the youngest of our subjects and needs to be kept entertained to prevent future mind shatter cases. They seem to obey us and run tests as instructed. Though they do tend to shatter minds of on site personal if they made them upset. Once one of our scientist gave them a teddy bear for good behavior. The scientist mind was reduce to that of an infant an hour later. Reversing effects caused by Subject Five have been prove to be difficulted but not impossible. They are used for " Incident revolving strong minded enemies". Though since being given a "Pet", they been most calm and rarely cause mind shatterings as they use to. At first we were all relieved. Though we were foolishly blinded by the realty of what control "Pet" had over Subject Five. They were the ones who now decided if someone gets their mind shattered. They were highly protective of Subject Five. Even going as far as parent them. During testing, the subject and "Pet" are separated. This does cause more difficulty. How much influence that the "Pet" hold over Subject Five has yet to be determined.
Mei made a mental note that if they were ever to face the child that was Subject Five than they would have to use extreme caution.
Just how young of a child did they grant such a fearwd power.
Mei would have to discuss strageties on how to handle such a threat whenever they would face them.
Mei already grew exchausted from hearing such in human activities before on childrens. She had only gone through half of the file reports and she felt sick.
Something that was shocking to admit since it took alot to make her feel that disgusted. Even when she witnessed Shiramon kill digimon never even fazed her. That was surely saying something.
Mei noticed that it was already late. The others would be back the following morning. She had to finish the last remaining reports before even considering going to bed.
Welp Doctor Mummymon would have a field day on looking into how see is so efficient with so little sleep.
File Six:
Subject Six seems to use "IT" properties to upgrade or enhance those that are influenced by a simple touch. They can modify their fellow subjects and their "Pet" as well. Their power does have a time limit of ten minutes for each subject. They also can motify no more than three people at a time. Once the ten minutes are up, they have to have a rest period of five minutes before they can attempt to modify another being. Subject Six is easily intimidated that just by raising our voice us enough to make the child obey orders. They seem to be quiet and soft spoken. Never really talking to anyone except to the fellow subjects and it's "Pet" The modufications that Subject Six creates with "IT" can only be used by the being it was given to. Furthermore, Subject Six has a limit to what they can modify. They can only create and modify what they consider enough for the being to handle. Anyone who demands more than what Subject Six can provide them are given two minutes till "IT" slowly consumes them. Subject Six has no control over this state. Subject Six is to remain calm at all times, any other emotion interference will cause their power to go out of their control and will cause harm to their psyche. There was only been one case of that occuring so far.
One that enhances not only the digimon but the powers of the other children as well. Quite intriguing. The first two Subjects didn't seem to be given such abilities. Though later subjects were able to turn the "Dark Mist" into their own supernatural abilities. That meant that these tests were to give them an edge on whatever "Incidents" the orginization was prepping them for.
Still no clue or hint to what the "Dark Mist" was or where it came from. The digital world was the most likely choice since the powers that the subjects were recieving were much like abilities that digimon had. Could that imply that the "Dark Mist" contained properties of different digimon? Though if that were true, than why give the children digimon in the first place?
Mei still had more questions then answers. The files solved a few of her worries, yet they seem to also give birth to new ones as well. Mei would make sure that their detective friend would learn of this too. They had far better resources to get more answers from the files than Mei could.
Well she could but that would involve breaking the law. Something she refused to do. Even she had a sense of standards and judgement on those matters.
File Seven:
Subject Seven only seems to be sleeping since we gave them "IT". They seem to be in a deep slumber since methods of awakening them have been unsuccessfully. However studies show that they are actually storing up massive amounts of power than imaginable. We are still testing them Even their "Pet" remained asleep. Futher tests need to be conducted to try to reveal the strength limit of the Subject power.
Mei frown a bit on the lack of information on this subject? What?! The Subject is constantly asleep and it barely gets any report at all?!
This is an insult to the child and writers everywhere. Mei had half a mind to track down the writer of these reports and serve them justice.
They were so lucky that the babies could not be left alone. That writer has caught the luckiest break of their entire life!
Just as lucky as the detective got spared from accidently eating all of Mei limited edition sweets that one only gets from a sweet shop in Switzerland every ten years. They were lucky she was sick that day.
Subject Seven:
Subject Seven seems to use "IT" to make copies of themselves to confuse enemies. Each copy has their own unique personality. Subject Seven is the only one with DID. They have exactly six different personas. Seems to have a unique bond with their "Pet", all the personas can unlock a new power for their "Pet". Only three of powers have been witnessed so far.
Okay. So a child with Multiple personal disorder was able to give their digimon partner six new powers which is unlocked by each persona. Mei could see them becoming friends with their detective pal. Subject Seven may not be as bad as the others if they come across them.
They would probably be adopted by the detective mentor if they could be found.
Though what is the deal with the reports getting shorter? Could be due to the lack of the findings. Another possibly is that the children are just hiding there abilities from the people at the orginization.
Still no hints about the "Dark Mist" origins or what the "Incidents" that the children were being trained for.
Subject Eight:
Subject Eight has is highly athletic and can use "IT" to go toe to toe with the "creatures" themselves. Their eyes seem to be able to locate any weak points in the bodies of their enemies. They are the only ones who constantly causes problems for us. They need to have ten of our guards to restraint them. Though Subject Eight is highly athletic, they lack a cool head. They tend to rush into things and it results in them getting injured. Nothing thst their "pet" can not fix.
Mei beg to differ that a child could match her in a battle of strength. Enhanced by mist or not, Mei has never lost a physicsl battle.
Even that time she had to break her arm in order to safe Kiyo from a crazied Mermaimon that wanted to make him theirs. Jellymon had recruited her to help her rescue her "Darling". She won a battle despite Mermaimon having the advantage in the water.
Only two more file reports to go. If there was ever a need for aspirin, now would be the time. A very much needed time for aspirin to coil the major migraine that caused her mind to pound her head like a drum. She considered hiring an assistant for these kinds of things.
File Nine:
Subject Nine can mutate the "creatures" into monstrous forms of themselves. The monstrous versions of the "creature " then mercilessly rampage on whatever enemy that Subject Nine sicks on them. Clearly the most creative of the subjects. They do have to be greatly threatened to use their powers. Guards have to use force on them to make them even use their power. They are emotional scarred for what they do with that power.
Mei wanted to personally beat everyone in that orginization if they were still around that is.
The dates on the file dated back to fifty years in the past. Cowards. Using death as a scapegoat. They were lucky that Mei wasn't around back then.
Mei didn't know what was sadder. The poor effort done to these last few reports or the orginization making these kids into troopers. She wanted to puke at the pathetic excuse of penmanship. Even grade schoolers had better skills that whoever wrote these reports.
Mei couldn't been as angry in this writing than ever. Not even when she read that horrible worded fan letter to the Sun Novelist.
Might as well finish reading last report. Mei would need the rest of the night to calm herself from going into the Wrath Sin Code rage.
File Ten:
The leader and most powerful of all ou-
The rest of the file was covered in ink. Completely unreadable.
Mei had a hunch that the leader was Koi. At least few answers were discovered.
What more secrets will be reveal? What purpose were they given the "Dark mist"? What was the orginization true mission? What are the "incidents?" Who are the "chosen"? More shall soon be reveal!
