(Tai's and Kari's apartment)

Tai was cleaning the bottom of his shoes with a brush.

Kari: I saw you in a new light today.

Tai: What now?

Kari: because the Joe. Not that he didn't come, you said he was "unable" to.

Kari smiled at him.

Kari: Joe might be seeking a solution. Tai, why not talk to Joe?

Tai: Leave it be.

Kari: Tai...

Tai: There are some things he doesn't want to face now.

Kari: Doesn't want to face? Like that he's one of the digidestined?

Tai: If I talk to him, then he might have to face that.

Kari: You too?

Tai: What?

He stops brushing his shoes.

Kari: There's something you don't want to face. Is that why you can't talk to Matt?

Tai: (mumbling) Just go to sleep already.

(Joe's apartment)

Joe was writing in his notebook as he stared at an open textbook. He put down his pencil and picked up the picture of him and his friends in the digital world.

Joe started to cry somewhat.

Gomamon: Joe?

Gomamon walked in with a bowl of soup on top of his head.

Joe turned on his chair to face him.

Joe: You want something?

Gomamon: Here you go, your midnight snack! I put an egg in it!

Joe: You're always so kind.

Joe takes the bowl from him.

Gomamon: There's so little I can do. I'm here whenever you need me, whatever I can do to...

Joe: Gomamon!

Gomamon grows quiet.

Joe begins to shake.

Joe: I'm sorry.

The seal looks down sadly.

Gomamon: Joe, don't let your ramen get cold!

Gomamon walks out of the room.

Joe falls to his knees. He slams his fists against his knees angrily. Tears streamed down his face.

(Next day, Joe's apartment)

Joe woke up in his bed to see Gomamon wasn't sleeping in his tiny bed that Joe had made for him.

Joe: Gomamon?

He puts on his glasses and jumped out of bed.

He picks up his phone. He sees a text from Gomamon and sighs in relief. But he frowns when he reads the message.

Gomamon: (text) Thanks for everything...

(Izzy's office)

Food was layed out on the giant table in the office.

Tentomon: Is that so? Well then Gomamon you should live here for a while.

Gomamon was eating a bowl of rice.

Gomamon: Huh? It's really okay?

Tentomon: When Izzy hears the situation, he's sure to say the same thing. There are more meetings here recently, so if you assist preparing snacks and tea, it would be a real help 

Gomamon: (throws a fin in the air) I'll do it!

Izzy runs into the office.

Gomamon: Hey, I'm here.

Tentomon: What are you so worked up about, Izzy?

Izzy was typing on his computer quickly.

Izzy: There's something urgent I need to investigate.

Tentomon: What is it?

Izzy: An email. It came to my inbox last night, sender unknown. I thought it might be spam, but it was clean of viruses when I checked it.

Tentomon looked at the screen.

Tentomon: DigiCode!

Gomamon: How come?

Izzy: Somehow, it's the same text as in the traces of the digital world.

Tentomon: Could it be some type of prank?

Izzy: Possibly. But there's no harm in checking.

The email reads

"Those who desire true power must know the darkness, and go beyond."

Izzy: And even if it is a prank, we need to ascertain who sent it and why.

(Maki's office)

Maki sat at her desk drinking a cup of coffee. She looked at her computer screen to read the same email Izzy received.

Maki: (on phone) Yes. The digimon in question is under control through its partner.

A portal opens up at the school and a figure stepped out from it.

Maki: Nonetheless, someone might try to take advantage of the opportunity. We must continue to be vigilant. Okay.

She hangs up.

Daigo: Himekawa.

Daigo walks over with a peice of paper in his hand.

Daigo: here's the latest data from the research the lab has predicted locations of distortions.

He places it in front of her and points out a location 

Daigo: it shows that... We need to increase our security level in this area beginning tomorrow.

Maki: (nods) I see. Request headquarters to increase security. Especially in crowded areas.

Daigo: In fact...unfortunately, tomorrow is the first day of the school festival.

Maki's eyes grew wide.

(Festival)

Daigo and Maki walked around to see people dressed up in costumes and setting up booths.

Daigo: Security personnel have been increased. They have permission to evacuate the school in an emergency.

Maki: What about the kids?

Daigo: How could I tell them? I want them to have fun today. Before the digimon, they were first kids.

Mimi walks up to a door with a sign reading "Daters" a closed note was next to it. She frowns. She was about to run away but stops when Meiko and I rushed out wearing the outfits.

Meiko: Mimi! You came!

Me: (cheerfully) What's up!? Ready to do this?

Mimi: You guys! Your wearing the outfit!

Meiko: (shy) W...well since we already, made it.

Mimi: That's no reason to...

Meiko: (blushing) I just... wanted to wear it!

I smiled at Meiko.

Me: She convinced me to wear it. At first I thought I would be the only one.

Mimi looked shocked.

Meiko: Since we went to dress stores and worked on the design together...I mean the design was really yours. Finding fabric, sewing it...it was Sora at the sewing machine. As you said, I felt happy 

Mimi started to smile.

Me: I feel happy too. We can all have fun doing this together.

Meiko: (nods) I thought about your cafe making everyone happy...it would be possible in this outfit. So...

Mimi: (hugs her) Meimei! Thank you.

Meiko: M...Mimi!

Mimi: I was right. You look so cute!

I put a hand on my hip and pouted 

Me: What about me?

Mimi had a teasing grin on her face as she looked at me.

Mimi: (teasing) So-so.

Me: Don't make me hurt you.

Mimi and I share a laugh. I felt good, I think both Mimi and I needed to deal with stress.

Mimi: I shouldn't have said I wouldn't wear the outfit...

Meiko and I: About that..

I held out another outfit in my hand towards Mimi.

Mimi's eyes began to brighten.

Mimi opens the door to the room.

Mimi: We're here!

Mimi now wore the outfit.

Mimi, Meiko and I stood in the room. The three of us were the only girls in the room wearing the outfit. While all the other girls worr their school uniforms with a blue apron over it.

They gave us all ackward stares.

Mimi laughs.

Mimi: I know we'd be the only ones.

Meiko: M...maybe we should...

Me: Have fun?

Mimi: Yes! We dress as we please. People can say what they want.

(Izzy's office)

Izzy: Those who desire true power must know the darkness, and go beyond. Go beyond the darkness? What on earth could it mean?

All the digimon were eating food in front of him.

Digimon: Yummy!

Labramon was eating away happily from a chip bag.

Cupimon sat on top of Labramon's head. The little angel digimon was eating a cookie.

Agumon: Palmon, are your wounds okay?

Palmon: I'm fine, I'm fine.

Tentomon: You did really great. Try this too.

He held out a tray of donuts.

Palmon: Okay.

Patamon: And this too.

Patamon held out a box of cinnamon sticks.

Palmon: Okay!

Meicoomon: Aye!

Bearmon: Ogremon was a tough digimon. Even with four digimon going up against him at once.

Biyomon: You three were amazing too!

Cupimon: Thanks.

Palmon: Yeah! Without your guys help. I don't know what I would do.

Labramon looked down at the ground sadly. The dog digimon stopped eating.

Gatomon: (to Meicoomon) I heard you did great.

Patamon: Stunning!

Gabumon: Yeah! What awesome courage.

Meicoomon: Thank you, guys.

Leomon had his eyes closed as he sat in a chair with his arms crossed over his chest.

Gomamon ate a chocolate bar.

Izzy felt his phone buzz.

Joe: (text) Is Gomamon with any of you?

Izzy: Gomamon?

Gomamon: Yes?

Izzy: It's Joe, he's asking if you're here.

Gomamon: Joe?

Izzy: You came without telling him?

Gomamon:. ...yeah.

Izzy: Okay, I'll let him know you're here.

Gomamon started to flop his fins around.

Gomamon: Don't tell him!

Izzy: Joe will worry.

Gomamon: Please.

Izzy: But...

Tentomon: Just let it be, Izzy. Gomamon has a lot going on himself. Can we let him have his way for now?

Izzy: Okay.

Tentomon: (To Gomamon) Is it really okay?

Gomamon:...Yeah.

(Joe's apartment)

Joe stared at his phone.

Kari: (text) Gomamon's not here. Is everything okay?

Matt: (text) Not here. What happened?

Izzy: (text) Not here. But I'm sure Gomamon's okay.

Joe looked down sadly.

Joe: Where the heck is he?

Fireworks go off in the air.

Meiko: (holding onto a table) I...I can't. I can't do this!

Mimi: What are you saying?

Me: You were so exited about this earlier.

Mimi: (nods, the two of us begin tugging her up to her feet) You want to make everyone happy, right?

Random girl: Opening time!

She opens the door.

All of us: (cheerfully) Good morning!

Mimi and I help Meiko to her feet.

Mimi: C'mon, you say it too!

Mimi and I stared at her with smiles.

Meiko: Good m...achoo!

A boys sweatdropped.

Mimi and I laugh.

Mimi: What a cool greating.

Me: Looks like your attracting guest. Keep up the good work Meiko.

Meiko: I said, I can't do it!

Mimi: You'll be fine! Good morning!

(Daigo and Maki)

Daigo: Want some Yakishba?

Maki: I'm fine.

Daigo: They have chicken too.

Maki: I don't want any.

Daigo: I wrote the sign by the school gate.

Maki: Why should I care? I just can't take the automosphere of school festivals.

Daigo: You said the same thing in high school. Even though you koved lively events like festivals in elementary school.

Maki: We can't always stay children. That's what I learned. I thought so much. But no matter how much i thought, I had no answer. I really struggled. That was high school.

Daigo: You mean you were struggling to grow up? But there was nothing childish about you.

Maki looks off around the school and gasps as she sees the dgimon emperor standing on the roof of the building.

Maki: (shocked) Ken Ichijouji?

Daigo: Something wrong?

Maki: It's nothing.

Ken disappears from sight.

(Daters resturant)

Me: Here you go!

I set a pancake platter in front of a boy. The boy smiled at me and thanked me.

Daigo walked in with Maki.

Luna: Looks like you guys had the same idea.

Maki turn her head to see Luna and Cassie standing behind them.

Cassie: Hey.

Daigo: Hello there. (Daigo turns to Mimi) Table for four please!

Meiko walked over.

Cassie and Luna eyes grew wide when they notice what kind of outfit their sister was wearing. Meiko was trying her best to look away from them.

Meiko: I...I'd lead you to y...your seats.

Maki laughs. Luna and Cassie join her as well.

Meiko: I...I'm sorry.

Mimi runs over and puts an arm around Meiko's shoulder.

Mimi: But her baseful style is actually getting her lots of fans.

Meiko: S...stop it!

Meiko sat Daigo, Maki, and her sisters down at a table.

Maki: Where's Meicoomon?

Meiko: At Izzy's office with the other digimon.

Maki: I see.

Daigo: Just the digimon there?

Meiko: (shakes her head) No izzy is there too.

Cassie looks down at the table sadly.

Daigo: Izumi didn't come either?

Meiko: No, apparently he's researching something.

Mimi: Even today's the first day of the school festival!

I walked over next to her.

Me: Yeah! Mr. Genius should try to take a day off.

Classy music begins to play.

Mimi and I exchange exicited grins, while all color drains from Meiko's face.

Meiko: (scared) It's started.

Maki: (confused) started?

Daigo: What has?

Luna: Is something wrong?

Mimi: C'mon Meimei, Sky, showtime!

Me: Let's do our best.

Mimi and I pulled Meiko to the front of the room.

Meiko: I...I can't. I told you, i just can't!

Mimi: No chance. Just give in to it!

Me: And have fun.

The three of us grab pom poms

We started to dance with people clapping.

Random guy: Got to love those three.

Meiko: I...I....I...can't!

Daigo: They're good together.

Luna: I wonder what Joe would say if he could see this.

Cassie smiled slightly and held up her phone. She pointed the camera at Skylar and took a picture. She then sent the image to Joe.

(Joe's apartment)

Joe felt his phone buzz.

Cassie: (text, subject extremely important)

Joe open the picture to see to see Skylar with a cheerleaders outfit on. His face turned dark red.

Cassie turned to her sister and started to laugh.

Cassie: Looks like Joe is on his way.

Maki held up her phone and took a picture of Cassie when she wasn't looking. She then sent it to Izzy.

(Izzy's office)

Izzy's phone buzzed.

Izzy open the pic.

Izzy: Himekawa?

Cassie's picture was shown. Cassie wore a bright purple vest, and a light purple skirt. She had a small lotus flower on the top of her long black hair. She held a hand over her mouth as she laughed.

Izzy started to blush.

Tentomon: Izzy, did you get another important email?

Tentomon looked at the picture.

Tentomon: Uh-oh.

Mimi's phone buzz.

Mimi: Izzy says he's on his way.

Me: That's cool. I wounder how long it will take him to get here.

Daigo: Himekawa, what did you do?

Maki: You said it earlier, you want them to be kids rather than the digimon partners....at least today. I simply agreed.

Meiko: But what will Meico and the others do?

Mimi: They'll just stay at Izzy's office.

Me: Yeah, Leomon will keep watch over them.

Luna rubs her face.

Luna: I still have a feeling like something is going to go wrong.

Daigo: (gets up) Maybe I'll go check, just im case.

Maki: You are an employee here, so you can stay here and watch. I'll go have a look 

Daigo: Thank you ma'am.

She waves and walks off.

(Izzy's office)

Agumon: The school festival is the one at Tai's school, right?

Gabumon: Matt's band is playing at it too.

Labramon: I wonder how our partners are doing.

Cupimon: Their probably having a blast.

Agumon: We should go too!

Tentomon: But Izzy isn't even here.

All the digimon begin to stare at Leomon.

Leomon stared back at them with confused looks.

Patamon: Leomon! Take us there.

Leomon: Me?!

All the digimon surronded him.

Digimon: Please! Please! Take us! Take us! Pretty please!

Meicoomon walked over to the front of Leomon.

Meicoomon: Leomon.

Leomon down at the cat digimon.

Meicoomon's eyes sparkled.

Leomon looked like he was having a hard time keeping his cool. He was going to break.

Meicoomon: Take us there!

Leomon's heart beated out of his chest.

(School)

Matt's band was playing on stage.

Students cheered for them.

T.K.: The band is just for the school festival but aren't they cool?

Kari: What were they called?

T.k.: World on the knife.

Kari sweatdropped.

A portal open up at the back of the school.

Izzy walked into  Daters wearing a purple tux.

Mimi: Oh! Izzy. Hey!

Me: Welcome to Daters!

Izzy waved at the two of us and he then looked over to where Cassie and Luna sat.

Cassie turned to him and waved. Izzy blushed.

Mimi: What's with the outfit?

I grab Mimi's shoulder and whispered in her ear.

Mimi: (squealing) I approve!

Izzy: (confused) Approve what?

Mimi: (can't control her excitement) So...table for one?

Izzy started to blush.

Izzy: Uh...actually. I was going to see, If I could sit next to Cassie...and ah Luna.

T.K.: Then count us in as well.

Izzy: T.K. and Kari.

Kari: May we sit with you as well.

Izzy: Absolutely.

Mimi: Come on in! Lead these three to your sisters! Meimei, show them to their seats.

Meiko: (rushing over) Y..yes. This way, please.

Random girl: Who's that girl?

Random girl 2: She's so cute!

The three of them sat next to Cassie and Luna.

T.K.: Meiko, that outfit really suits you.

Cassie: Yeah. Sis are you going to wear it more often?

Meiko: Wha? I...I'm not...that's...

T.K. holds up his phone.

T.K.: Let me take your picture (takes picture of her sneezing)  so cute.

Mimi: T.K. What about me, huh? Me!

T.K.: It's cute on you too!

Mimi: Too? What do you mean, too?

(Front of school)

Leomon walked in wearing a huge gray coat, a red hat, and a surgical mask. He held a dog lease which was attach to Labramon's collar. The other digimon were holding onto Leomon's coat.

Leomon: We're here guys. Just stay still and don't move...

Agumon sniffs the air.

Agumon: So many great smells.

Labramon: Their making me hungry.

Palmon: I want to go to Mimi's cafe.

Bearmon: Shouldn't we all stay together though?

Leomon: (nods) We must behave.

Meicoomon: Leomon.

Leomon looked over at Meicoomon. Her eyes started to sparkle once more.

Meicoomon: I want to go!

Leomon's heart started to beat out of his chest.

The digimon ran off.

Leomon: Don't go around on your own!

Leomon was walking around, looking for any signs of the other digimon.

Leomon: Where did they go?

Maki held a bag as she walked up to Izzy's office. She clicked the doorbell button but no one answered.

(Festival)

All the digimon were hiding underneath a table.

A student nearby was cooking ramen on a small stove nearby.

Patamon: What smeels?

Me: I want to eat now. My stomach is killing me.

Biyomon: You can't, not without money.

Agumon: Do you have any money?

Tentomon: No money. Flat broke.

Cupimon nods.

Cupimon: Aye! I have no money either.

Palmon: And with all this food!

Bearmon: Maybe it's for the best.

Random guy wearing a girl's outfit: Step right up for the creepy-cute costume contest! The winner can eat anything served at the school festival for free!

Agumon: For free?

Gabumon: It means you don't need money.

Digimon: That's it!

(Contest)

Random guy: Thank you for a great performance. Please give them another round of applause!

Tai watches the event.

Tai: Wow so many people. He starts walking off.

Random guy: Now for entry number 20, Goma-chin!

Tai looks over.

Gomamon stood on top of Palmon's head. They had drapped a table cloth around his waste to cover up Palmon.

Tai: (shocked) Gomamon?

Random guy: The next entry is the very cute Meico!

Meicoomon stood on stage with her arms held out.

Meicoomon: I'm Meicoo!

Tons of people cheered.

(Riding bike down sidewalk)

Joe felt his phone buzz.

Tai: (text) Gomamon is at the school.

Joe looked down happily. He started to pedal faster.

(Hallway)

Matt held his guitar.

Tai ran over to him.

Tai: Matt  glad I found you. Agumon and the others seem to be here.

Matt: The digimon?

Tai: Seems like they entered the creepy-cute costume contest. I have a pratice game. Do you think you could go check on them?

Matt: Got it.

He puts down his guitar.

Tau started to walk off but Matt walks in front of him.

Matt: You still haven't answered my question. Why was Omnimon's fusion broken up?

Tai: Isn't it enough that Aplhamon was defeated?

Tai begins to walk again but Matt holds out his hand.

Matt: I don't know when Omnimon broke up, I want to know why. At this time, between us two, within you, there were doubts. Isn't that why?

Tai pushes Matt out of the way.

Matt: Tai!

Tai runs off.
