Nanomadia (SFW)

TW: Angsty/Sad!

Title: ~Grey~

Living in a world with soulmates exist is exhilarating. You live every moment of every day waiting for that touch that will send electricity down your spine. The touch that will brighten your world from the moment skin touches skin. The moment when the world isn’t the same colors of grey, black, and white.

A person is born without the sight of color. It’s only when you touch your soulmate for the first time will the world brighten, into spontaneous bouts of color, colors that your not used to, and neither is your soulmate.

It was amazing - no, better than amazing - when Lomadia first shook hands with Nano. The grass was suddenly a bright green, and the darker grey splotches on Nano’s face turned a bright purple. The sky was blue, the sun was yellow, her owl hat was brown. Nano was equally blown away, awing at all the colors neither had ever seen before.

Their story began right there. They got to know each other better, they moved in together, it was perfect. The colors instantly brightened their world, and it just made it better waking up every morning to see the colors of each other’s eyes. To marvel at the beautiful purple marks that tainted Nano’s skin, to which Lomadia had taken a liking to.. To pet the soft brown feathers of the owls. To comb through each other’s hair.

And it was alright. For a few years, things were alright.

Then the fatal accident. Something had happened, Lomadia was sure of that. She was talking to Nilesy, suggesting plans for their island, when the green on the trees faded. She felt her stomach flip and her heart skip a beat. The sky lost it’s color, the sun faded to white, the sea was nothing but a grey abyss.

Nilesy had noticed her sudden panic, and asked what was wrong. Lomadia didn’t reply immediately, but when she did, Nilesy felt his own stomach flip.

"I can’t see color anymore."

As it turned out, Nano had fallen to an accident while with Lalna. Lomadia didn’t catch it all, her heart breaking, pulling grass out of the ground to search for that green. She squinted at the sky, waiting for the blue to appear or the sun to grow yellow again. She had to turn away when her eyes started to hurt.

Lomadia stared at the purple fabric that they had put on all the pillows, since Lom liked it so much(and Nano didn’t mind it either). All she could see was a dark grey.

It had been a year. No color returned at all. The purple pillows had been torn apart and thrown out. The pictures ripped and burned. Anything resembling purple destroyed. Or, at least what Lomadia had been sure was purple. It hurt, that she couldn’t even see her and Nano’s favorite color.

Everything

Was

Just

A

Dull

Grey.
