TW: Two short people xD

Title: ~Swingset~

Honeydew stared with a confused expression at the sight in front of him: a mess of whirling, twisting metal and rubber rising up from a sea of tiny rocks. He stood frozen on the grass, unsure on whether to follow his friend.  Kim, however, was already making her way ahead, rocks crunching beneath her feet before stopping halfway to look back at her companion.

“What’s the matter?” she asked, “You’ve been to a playground before, right?” Her eyebrows shot up at Honeydew’s puzzled face and placed her hands on her hips, “You have got to be kidding me.  Did you do anything fun as a child?”

“What do you mean? I had loads of fun as a kid!” Honeydew retorted, his expression quickly snapped to that of annoyance, “One of the best memories of my life was digging secret hideout holes with my friends. Now there’s some real fun.” He then smiled to himself, lost in thought.

“Yeah, digging holes… that classifies as fun.” Nano scoffed as she walked back to Honeydew and grabbed his hand, “C’mon, you have not lived until you’ve tried the swing set.”

His face burned slightly from their touch, but luckily Kim was dragging him along behind her and didn’t notice as she guided him across the playground. His flustered brain was relieved when her hand suddenly slipped from his and she dashed towards the nearest swing and hopped on.

“All you gotta do is sit on one, then swing your legs back and forth to go higher. It’s really easy!” Kim encouraged her friend who was beginning to look unsure of the whole idea.

“But are you sure this is really…um… dwarf-friendly?” Honeydew asked after walking up to the swing beside Kim and discovering the seat came up to his chin. She suppressed a laugh as she rose from her swing to help Honeydew clamber onto his. “I don’t see why not! You’ve got legs, don’tcha?” She returned to her seat and began kicking her legs back and forth, “Just follow what I do and you’ll be fine!”

Honeydew mirrored her movements as best he could, and soon he began to gain momentum. His hands gripped the chains tighter and sweat formed between his fingers as he rose higher and higher from the ground. Feelings of vertigo and fear coursed through him each time he dove towards the rocks then flung into the open blue of the sky, but more than anything else he felt an exhilarating burst of freedom as the wind rushed around him. “Oh god Kim was right…this is a fucking blast.” He thought to himself.

He turned his gaze towards Nano who was swinging in perfect harmony with her friend. Her eyes were closed as she tilted her head up towards the sky, smiling peacefully with the wind tossing her dark hair around. The sun bounced off her flux-stained skin causing her to practically glow. Honeydew felt his stomach flutter, but this time he was sure it wasn’t from the vertigo.

She felt the dwarf looking at her and furrowed her brow as she met his gaze, “Um… what’re you staring at? Are you okay?” She asked, tilting her head in concern.

Honeydew blushed then returned to looking ahead of him before mumbling, “Yeah, I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been more okay….”
