Chapter 3

As Maggie slept she dreamt of a plant and a dog, it was strange she had never had a dream like it before. She woke up before the others, she got up and opened her trunk. She pulled out a canvas and the easel, she quickly set them up before getting her paint out. She started to paint the outline just as the other girls started to wake up.

" Why are you up so early?" Lisa asked as she sat up.

" To paint," Maggie answered.

" Got inspiration this early in the year?" Sue Li asked.

" Yeah," Maggie breathed.

" Well stop painting and get ready for breakfast," Isobel ordered as she rolled her eyes. Soon they were all down at the Great Hall, they had just received their timetables for the year.

" Today we have potions as our first class," Mandy stated.

" I heard that the potions master is cruel," Maggie gave her opinion.

" As a student, you will always be on his bad side," A girl warned. She had blonde hair and blue eyes. " I am Penelope Goldwater, your perfect.

" Cause that is reassuring," Pavarti commented.

Maggie currently sat in her first potions class, she sat next to Mandy as they patiently waited for their Professor to show up. There was a door slam, signaling that someone has entered the room, outworked a middle-aged man with greasy black hair.

" You are here to learn the subtle science and exact potion-making. As there is foolish wand-waving here, many of you will hardly believe this is magic. I don't expect you will really understand the beauty of the softly simmering cauldron with its shimmering fumes, the delicate power of liquids that creep through human veins, bewitching the mind, ensnaring the senses...I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, even stopper of death-if if you aren't as big a bunch of dunderheads I usually have to teach," Snape said in his speech of introduction. " Today you will produce a simple Cure for Boils Potion. Know that I expect perfection. And know that there will be severe consequences for failing to meet my expectations. Let us begin." The students all began working on their potions, Snape would walk around, examine and give his unwanted opinion. They working when something exploded, everyone jumped and looked at two girls from Hufflepuff looking dazzled and torn up.

" IDIOTS!" Snape screeched at the two girls. " Ms. Abbott and Ms. Bones clean up and go to the hospital wing, you two have clearly not filled my expectations." Hours later they now at lunch, Maggie was working on a drawing as she ate.

" What are you drawing?" Anthony Goldstein asked as he bit into an apple.

" Something I saw in my dream last night," Maggie answered.

" What did you dream about?" Anthony asked.

" Plants and a dog," Maggie answered. " I know it sounds boring."

" It is borning," Anthony agreed before turning to talk to Terry Boot and Michael Corner.

" I will see you guys in the class, I need drop something off at the dorm," Maggie stated as she stood up.

" We will try our best to save you a seat," Isobel said.

" Thanks," Maggie breathed before she left the table.

" Hey Maggie," Neville greeted walking up to her.

" Hello Neville," Maggie greeted. " How did your first few classes go?"

" Not the best," Neville admitted. " How about yours?"

" I am enjoying them actually," Maggie admitted. "

" Will you still paint Trevor?" Neville asked.

" Of course," Maggie answered. " I just want to get through the first week of classes or so."

" Fair enough, Neville agreed.

A few days later Maggie was running late to her first class of  McGonagall's transfiguration's class. She got a bit distracted with her painting, she going at full speed, when she ran into someone knocking them both down.

" My cardigan!" a girl screeched. Maggie looked up to see Hermione staring at her angrily, there was a blue paint handprint on Hermione's cardigan.

" I am so sorry," Maggie apologized as she got up and offered her a hand.

" Get away from me!" Hermione screeched as she got up on her own. " You did enough damage." She angrily stomped away, Maggie sighed and ran to class. She got in on the last bell, she saw most of the seats were taken, so plopped herself down on one of the only three of spots.

" Trying to join the blue man group?" a voice asked.

" What?" Maggie asked in confusion as she looked at the person sitting next to her.  It was a Hufflepuff boy, he had dark curly hair and dark brown eyes.

" The music group," Justin answered his own question, Maggie gave him a weird look.

" Sorry, I guess I just have never heard of them," Maggie apologized.

" Typical Pureblood," the boy sighed.

" No, I love the muggle world, I love their literacy and art, but I have not got the chance to hear what sounds they produce," Maggie insisted.

" In that case, I shall be the one to introduce them to you," the boy insisted. " I am Justin-Finch Fletchy." He held out his hand.

" Maggie Diggory," Maggie introduced herself as she held at her hand. They both looked at the paint that was still on her hands. " Maybe we can save that for later." Justin just laughed.

" You have paint on your glasses," Justin laughed more.

" Oh Merlin," Maggie sighed as she took off her glasses and took out her wand. " Scourify." The glasses were now paint-free.

" How did you know that?" Justin asked in amazement.

" My older brother Cedric's textbooks," Maggie answered. " I would read them and reread them when he brought them home." She looked over to see Justin staring at her. " I know it's really nerdy."

" I think it's brilliant," Justin complimented, Maggie gave him a smile and the class began. They were to transform a match into a silver needle, Maggie was able to transform it on the second try. McGonagall was highly impressed, Maggie then was allowed to go around helping others in the classroom.
