Chapter 1

* Picture is Maggie

It was a snowy February evening around the Diggory's house. Amos Diggory was playing in the snow with the couple's son Cedric when heard his wife cry out.

"Amos! " his wife cried. " The baby is coming!"

" We got to go, Cedric," Amos said.

"Why daddy?" Cedric asked confused.

"You have a baby sister on the way," Amos said, the little boy's face lit up.

" What are you going to call her?" Cedric asked.

" That is a surprise," Amos smiled. Hours later the baby finally arrived on February 13th on a Friday.

" Ceddy, come hold your baby sister," his mother wished.

" What is her name?" Cedric asked as waddled up to his mother.

" Maggie Jane Diggory," his mother answered.

" She looks like a potato," Cedric commented.

" She's a newborn," Amos laughed. " She is your baby sister."

" For how long?" Cedric asked.

" Forever," his mom laughed.

As Maggie grew older, she gained quite a fascination with art. She loved to draw, paint, and make things out of clay. Her favorite was painting, she loved getting paint all over her old clothes. Maggie has light brown hair that is usually in a braid and grey eyes. She wears square glasses and has chiseled features. When Cedric started going to Hogwarts she gets more excited, cause that means she was close to going. Whenever Cedric brought home his old school books, Maggie would read them and then reread them. Her favorite hobbies are painting and reading. She loved it so much that she went into the muggle world several times and read their books. Maggie adored her brother the most out of her whole family, she wanted to be like him at Hogwarts. Cedric always told her that she should not be like someone else, but her own person.

On platform, 9 & 3/4, Maggie was getting ready to board the train. She was on her way to Hogwarts for her very first year, she was excited to make friends and find more items to paint.

" What house do you think you will get?" her mother asked.

" Hufflepuff of course," her dad boomed.

" Well, actually I am hoping for Ravenclaw," Maggie admitted. " I heard that a lot of creative and intelligent people go to that house."

" If that is what you want, then we wish you the best," her dad said. " As long as it makes you happy."

" Even if it breaks family tradition?" Maggie questioned.

" We will support you no matter what," her mother laughed before kissing the top of her head. " Go the train will leave without you."

" I love you!" Maggie called as she hurried onto the train. She quickly found a train and looked out the window. She waved at them as the train started to move, she sat down as soon as they were out of sight. The door opened; she looked over to see a girl about her age.

" Can I sit here please? " the girl asked. " Everywhere else is full."

" Of course," Maggie answered. The other girl smiled in relief and put her stuff up before sitting down across from Maggie. " So, what is your name?"

" Mandy Brocklehurst," the girl answered. " You?"

" Maggie Diggory," Maggie answered.

" Is it short for anything?" Mandy asked.

" No, just Maggie," Maggie responded. " You?"

" Just Mandy," Mandy responded. " You like to read?" She gestured to a book that was falling out of Maggie's bag.

" Yeah, it's one of my favorite activities," Maggie answered as she snatched the book before it fell. " Do you?"

" It's like having another world form in your head, it's fascinating," Mandy answered. " What are you reading?"

" Animal Farm by George Orwell," Maggie answered.

" That's what muggles read," Mandy informed. " Are you a muggle-born?"

" Pureblood," Maggie corrected. " But I like to go into the muggle world and read their books, there are just so many."

" Better than the ones in the wizarding world?" Mandy asked.

" Most definitely," Maggie answered.

" How so?" Mandy demanded.

" Well, they do not have actual magic, but they create magic through pen and paper, with their imaginations," Maggie explained.  " Well the fiction ones anyways, but still books are amazing, they can tell so many life stories. I love learning about the muggle way of life."

"So you are not against muggle-borns?" Mandy asked. " Or other blood types."

" Merlin no," Maggie laughed. " Do you like to read?"

" Not as much as you do," Mandy answered.  " Do you have a favorite?"

" The Princess Bride," Maggie answered. They got interrupted by a knock on the door, revealing Cedric.

" Mags, you almost forgot your money," Cedric stated as he gave her a bag. " How do you expect to get a treat from the trolley?"

" Sorry," Maggie apologized. " Did the trolley pass your room yet?" Maggie asked.

" Soon," Cedric answered. " I better get back before I miss it." With that her brother left the compartment; Maggie looked over to see Mandy practically drooling.

" Close your mouth," Maggie ordered.

" Sorry," Mandy blushed. " Who is that?"

" My older brother Cedric," Maggie answered.

" He is so pretty," Mandy gushed causing Maggie to roll her eyes.

" So what else do you like to do?" Maggie asked trying to change the subject.

" Learning, space, alone time," Mandy listed.

" I like those things as well," Maggie answered. " I love to paint."

" Do you draw?" Mandy asked.

" Yes," Maggie confirmed.

" Draw me," Mandy demanded.

" Okay," Maggie demanded. For the rest of the ride Maggie drew Mandy, she did not stop drawing until they reached Hogwarts, she did not even stop for the trolley that passed by. Once they got off the train, they heard whisperings.

" What is everyone whispering about?" Mandy asked.

" Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts," A boy answered as he passed by the two girls.

" Harry Potter!" Maggie silently gasped.

" RIGHT THIS WAY FIRST YEARS! THIS WAY PLEASE! COME ON NOW! FIRST YEARS DON'T BE SHY! HURRY UP!"  A deep loud-voiced shouted." COME ON TO THE BOATS!' They followed the voice till they found a tall hairy fan waving around a lantern. Mandy and Maggie got into a boat with two other girls. Once the boats started towards the castle, Maggie looked at the water and saw the night sky in the reflection.

" It's beautiful," Maggie cooed.

" I think the word you are looking for is magnificent," Mandy corrected, Maggie looked up, her eyes widening at the sight of the castle of Hogwarts. The boats stopped and the group of first years made their way up steps till they reached a large door. Hagrid gave a firm knock, for it to open, revealing a elder witch in green with a pointy hat. She led them into the castle and into the reception hall, she took a few steps up the stairs and faced them.

" Welcome to Hogwarts," the lady greeted. " Now, in a few moments, you'll pass through these doors and join your classmates. But before you can take your seats, you must be sorted into your houses. There are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Now, while you're here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you points, any rule-breaking....and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup." There was a croaking sound, everyone looked to see a toad at the lady's feet.

" TREVOR!" a boy shouted. He rushed forward and grabbed the creature, he was a bit plump, with dark brown hair. He looked up to see the lady giving him a stern look, he quickly tried in with the crowd again, as best as he could. Maggie blinked, at that moment she felt like she captured the moment perfectly.

" The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily, I suggest you smarten yourselves up as much as you can while waiting," she continued as she glanced at everyone. " I shall return when we are ready for you, please wait here." She then left the room, with a swoosh of her cloak she was out of sight and behind closed doors. Maggie turned around and walked toward the toad boy.

" Where are you going?" Mandy demanded as she grabbed her arm.

" To talk to the boy with the toad," Maggie answered.

" He's weird," Mandy said in disgust.

" I want to be his friend," Maggie insisted as she pulled her arm away and walked over to the boy. " Hello."

" Hello," the boy greeted her shyly.

" You named your toad Trevor?" Maggie asked, he just nodded. " Can I hold him?"

" He's kind of jumpy," the boy warned as he handed her the toad. " I'm Neville Longbottom."

" Maggie Diggory," Maggie introduced herself as she carefully held the toad. " He's so bumpy, brown, black eyes."

" Why are you describing him?" Neville asked.

" Cause I might paint a picture of him later," Maggie answered as she handed him back. Neville was about to say something until a snobby voice filled everyone's ears.

" So it's true," a boy said. They looked to see a boy with extremely greasy platinum blonde hair, slicked back. He had two large boys behind him as they walked over to a boy with messy jet-black hair and round glasses.  " What they were saying on the train. Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts."

" Harry Potter!"Maggie and Neville gasped at each other with wide eyes.

" This is Crabbe and Goyle," the blonde boy said as he gestured to the two large boys behind him. " And I'm Malfoy. Draco Malfoy." He turned his attention to a redhead boy. " Think my name is funny do you...No need to ask for yours. Red hair, and a hand-me-down-robe, you must be a Weasley," Malfoy sneered.

"You're the one with chicken grease in your hair," Maggie stood up for Ron; everyone laughed at Draco, causing him to blush in embarrassment.

" Some wizard families are better than others Potter," Draco said as he glared at Maggie before looking at Harry. "Don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort, therefore I can help you out." He stuck a hand out at Harry who stared at the hand before looking back up at Draco.

" I think I can tell the wrong sort for myself thanks," Harry denied the request, Draco's face turned poker straight. The elder lady had returned, she tapped on Draco's shoulder with some parchment; he looked at her before walking away.

" We're ready for you now," the lady smiled before leading them into the great hall.
