Chapter 4: Negativity

*Virgil POV*

Something had Princey and Logan riled up. I could feel it.

I smirked to myself as I relaxed in my room, listening to Evanescence while I tried to decide how best to tell my Host that it was a bad idea to go to a party coming up.

After a moment, though, the feeling that I had got a bit annoying, and I turned off my music, sighing.

"What are they doing now?" I grumbled as I got up and walked out to find them.

*************

When I finally found them, they were at the gate, along with Patton.

This was a bit of a surprise, as I knew Patton had been baking cookies a while ago, and I knew that usually took a while.

"What's going on?" I asked as I walked up.

That was when I noticed the group of girls standing there.
They all looked different, but all of them had the same worried look on their faces, as if they were afraid they'd done something wrong.

Roman, Logan, and Patton all turned to face me, equal expressions of confusion and concern on their faces.

"We're not sure, kiddo," Patton replied carefully, "But we're trying to figure it out."

I sighed, running a hand through my hair as I surveyed the group.

Then my eyes landed on a girl wearing red-tinted sunglasses, black lipstick, and a dark moon-phase jacket.

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say she would be the Nervous aspect of the group. All Nervous aspects are usually dark in clothing, makeup, and attitude.

And this girl looked like (I hated to use Princey's words on this) "the embodiment of a dark and stormy night".

So, I walked over to her, and she glanced up.

"I'm Virgil," I said, deciding to keep things brief.

"Azalea," the girl replied, "I represent Mood."

"Are you the Nervous of the group?" I asked, surprise in my voice.

When she nodded, I asked another question:
"Then why Mood? Wouldn't that be better for an Emotional?"

"Ordinarily, yes," Azalea replied, "but our Host realized that her Curiosity was better suited for Emotional. Besides, I'm negative most of the time."

"And when you aren't?" I asked.

Barely a second after I'd asked that question, a bright glow surrounded Azalea, completely blocking her from view.

When it cleared up, I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one who gasped.

Azalea's outfit had completely transformed. Now, her sunglasses had white frames, her lipstick was white, and she wore a white leather jacket.

My mouth dropped open, and my eyes felt like they were going to pop out of my head.
I was quite positive that I'd never been this surprised in all of my life.

"That happens," Azalea said calmly.
