Telling Stories
Back too square one. He was there. Pale skin. Black hair. This time, his military uniform was neat. And there was no glass between us either. I ran towards him. Wrapping my arms around him. I felt him return the grimacing hug.
"You don't know how long I've waited to do this." He mumbled. Then, we weren't hugging anymore. Another glass stood in the way. I looked at it. I wasn't wearing my type of clothes. I was back in my red coat, black jacket. Braided golden hair. I looked at the glass. I pushed my hands on the glass. I tried to break it. Roy looked at me sadly.
"I miss you." He muttered. I looked at him.
"I've come so far...." I whimpered sadly. "I won't let a stupid piece of glass become an obstucle!" I declared. I tried kicking it, hitting it, using my alchemy even. It never worked. Not even a crack. Or a scratch. I slid down onto my knees in sadness. I was still leaning against the glass. Roy bent down onto my level.
"Ed....its okay. You'll be okay. I'll be okay. Just don't give up yet okay?" he asked. I looked at him, tears forming in my eyes as I nodded.
"Okay. I promise." He smiled.
"Ed listen...I need to tell you something." Roy said.
"Eh? What is it?" I replied.
"I-"
"Brother! You're going to be late!" Al exclaimed. I yelped and sat up quickly.
"What the...?!" I exclaimed.
"Brother. Are you alright?" He asked. I sighed and nodded.
"Yeah. Just another stupid dream." I replied. He nodded.
"Well you better get up soon. Or else you'll be late." Al explained. I nodded again and stood up. In my amount of clothes, I came across a white button up shirt, a green V vest and brown pants. I grumbled as I grabbed them. I threw them on and tied my hair up into a pony tail. I then walked out of my room and walked into the kitchen.
"Wow little brother. Didn't know you could make breakfast." I joked, leaning against the door frame with my arms crossed. A playful smile was plastered on my face. Al smiled back and nodded.
"Yeah. Secretly, I've been getting lessons from Winry. I wanna help out around here. And stop you from wrecking your auto mail every time you want food." He admitted. I looked at him.
"Geez. You could've said it nicer." I mumbled. We then sat down and ate.
After we were done, I had to leave in order to get to the book store by twelve.
"I'll be back soon Al!" I called as I went out the door. I then walked on the curb. Luckily, Al and I lived sort of close to the book store. As I got closer, I saw Mustang standing there. I walked over to him. He turned to face me.
"Hey Ed." He greeted.
"Hey." I replied.
"So, where you waiting to long or...?" I trailed off. He shook his head.
"No. I ended up arriving about four minutes ago." He replied. I nodded.
"What now?" I asked. He shrugged.
"We could always walk around town." He suggested. I nodded.
"Sure." I agreed.
We then walked around town for a bit. Mustang and I told small stories from our childhood. Sometimes, we would laugh or smile.
"Sounds like you had it easy." He said, as we sat down at a small cafe. I couldn't help but stiffen a bit.
"Yeah....I guess...." I muttered. I looked sadly at the table we were sitting at.
"Sorry. That was rude. I barely know what happened." He apologized. I shook my head and smiled at him.
"It's fine! Anyways, what do you wanna do after here? It's starting to get kind of late." I questioned. He sat and thought for a moment.
"Maybe we could go back to my place and watch a movie?" He asked. I nodded.
"Sure. Lets do that then." I agreed.
After we left the cafe, we headed to Mustang's place. We never actually watched the movie though.
"Hey Ed?" He asked.
"What's up?" I replied.
"Why do you have metal limbs exactly?" He asked. I sighed.
"This story's a rough one. Get ready." I stated. He nodded.
"Okay. I'm ready." He replied. I nodded this time. I began to tell Mustang about my world. The alchemy. The military. My role. What happened to Al. I even told him about his counter part.
"So...in your world I'm a Colonel....?" He asked. I nodded.
"Yeah. A pretty smart and sarcastic one at that." I explained. He nodded.
"We also had code names. Mine was Fullmetal. His was Flame, but I never used that. It was always either Colonel Bastard or Mustang." I added. Mustang laughed a bit.
"Interesting nick name there." He said. I couldn't help but laugh myself.
"Al always teased me about it. Either that or got mad at me for not respecting my superior." I chuckled. It felt.....nice to talk about this with someone. I then moved on to explain how exactly I got here. And then, I explained how Al got here too. Mustang seemed...intrigued and confused at the same time. After I was completely done explaining, I looked at him.
"Alright. You can call me crazy and say I belong in a mental hospital now." I sighed. Mustang shook his head.
"No you don't. I actually believe you." He said. I raised an eye brow.
"Wha....? How?" I asked.
"I don't know it just....how you explained it all. You were wearing this bright smile. Like you loved talking about your world." He replied. I nodded.
"And another thing Ed." He said.
"Hm?" I hummed.
"How it seems to me, you were in love with this Colonel Mustang. Am I correct?" He asked. I looked at him.
"Um." I muttered. He chuckled. "I-I guess." I admitted. Is that why I couldn't help but miss him so much? He nodded.
"Okay. Then this would be okay." He muttered. He put his hand on my cheek. I blushed as we softly locked lips.
