Leo S: Why is it so sad
Eli: Why is it the James Bond Spectre theme song
In the morning...
Leo's POV
Despair. It was all I felt as I sat inside my room, staring at a picture of Alana and I, at a fun fair. My hair was messed up, and she was hugging a huge teddy bear I won for her a few years ago, when we were 15, careless, happy go lucky, free. That was our first date, when we went to the funfair in the middle of Slugterra. I still remembered after all these years. I touched Alana's smiling face in the picture, which represented just a second, a second frozen in time.
"Leo, are you ok?" I heard someone ask, and I recognized the voice. It was Jason, his blond hair cropped short, his dark purple shirt with SPQR's symbol on it, his years of service branded on his wrist. His electric blue eyes twinkled with the lighting, and his face made him look like he was prepared for hours of comforting. I replied solemnly,
"I'm fine, Jason, I just miss her." A sad smile creeped up to my lips as I remembered us. She wouldn't want me to be sad forever. She would want me to move on from her death. But it gets harder everyday, and I still would do anything just to run my hands into her hazel brown hair, to feel her in my embrace, and everyday, no matter how busy I am, I'm always in here, looking at the same photo, and I break down and cry, begging for just one more kiss, one more breath, one more word, one more look at her beautiful cyan blue eyes. Her smile was etched in my mind, her memories keeping me going. I looked at the tattoo of her last words, on my right wrist, which were written in cyan blue, to honor Alana.
Stay strong, Leo.
Those words kept me going, those words spoken by her lips were the only reason I was still upright, that I wasn't insane, unlike the immortal camper a few doors away from me.
"You sure, Leo? You look pretty shaken up." He closed the door and sat next to me on my blue bed. He wiped a tear away from my cheek, which I didn't realize until now, then he told me,
"Why don't you go to me if you need someone there for you? I'm always gonna be there for you, I owe you both that much." I put the picture on my bedside desk and asked curiously,
"Why do you even owe me?" He hung his head low in shame as he uttered,
"I let you fall into Tartarus, when I swore on the River Styx to protect you, but you never hated me. Your brother did, until you came back from the Underworld as a Warrior of Hades. Ally made sure I wouldn't go into the Fields of Punishment for what I did, but the Fates gave me a twisted, cruel punishment of their own." He said that last sentence with pure hatred and resent, and I questioned,
"What was the punishment?" His electric blue eyes looked away from my sky blue ones, and his face was written with all his hidden guilt, his bottled up anger, his locked away secret.
"You can tell me, Jason, but if you can't share it, it's ok. I won't force you." All of a sudden, he looked into my eyes and forced out,
"My punishment...I lost you, so they made us lose the war. They cut Eli and Alana's life when they should have lived much longer, and they..." Fresh tears sprung out from his eyes, which I never expected as he choked,
"They killed Piper in front of my eyes." He buried his face in his hand and sobbed uncontrollably, his sobs shaking his entire body, and each sob more broken and shattered than the next. I scooted nearer to him, and wrapped my arms around him, like how a guy would do for his brother. He hugged me back, and it was just like that for a while: Jason in my embrace, his heart thumping against my chest as he shook with sobs that slowly died down, and his arms around me. When he finally moved away, his eyes were red and puffy, and his nose was similar to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. He told me,
"Leo, the real reason why Alana and Eli died, why Piper died, why we lost the war, it's because I broke my promise. I'm.....I'm so sorry..." He sniffed, and tears welled up in his eyes. Him. He was the reason she's gone. He's the reason Alana's dead. He's the reason we lost. But surprisingly, I didn't feel resentment or hate towards Jason. I only felt pity. I knew that somewhere in my heart, Alana was advising me, telling me what to do, who to like and who to hate. That she was never really gone.l
"Jason, it's okay. Alana....I'm not over her, and surely, you're not over Piper. I forgive you for their deaths. Alana wouldn't want me to hate you because of her. She would hate that, and I want to make her proud. You should do that too. Make Piper proud, because she's always there with you, as long as you remember her. Trust me, I know. I always feel like Alana's here with me. And she'll be telling me to forgive and forget everyone except for the Blakks." We chuckled at that, and I thought I saw a flicker of a smile on his lips, but he avoided my gaze and said,
"It's much easier for both of us to hate me. You actually loved Alana and Eli. I killed off the last two people you could ever love, and you're forgiving me. I don't deserve it." I was taken aback when he said this, and as he turned away, I saw the immense guilt Jason held. Alana and Eli's death wasn't his fault. It wasn't. And he was wrong about who I loved. I loved Ally, as a sister.
"Jason, that's not true. If there's one thing you don't deserve, it's seeing Piper die. And I can still love Ally, as a sister. And you could love Thalia as a sister. You didn't lose her, didn't you?" I asked, and he replied solemnly,
"I even don't know if she's alive." On that depressing note, he stood up and left. Just seconds after that, Ally burst in, panting, a wide grin on her face.
"Guess what, lover boy. Crystine survived, and she has something to say about Alana." Immediately, my senses sharpened, and my concentration increased by at least a thousand as I dashed to Ally and shook her as I asked,
"Where is Crystine?!" She pushed me off her and responded,
"Lover boy, calm down, geez! She's in the infirmary." I hastily made an apology and bolted for the infirmary. I burst in, and I saw a wide awake Crystine, getting her arm put in a sling.
"Leo, you survived!" She exclaimed with relief, and I smiled as I plopped down into a seat beaide her. Even though I wasn't really close to Crystine anymore, I was glad she was alive. We needed more survivors.
"Yeah, I know, so did you. Is it true? Is Alana alive?!" I asked, and she looked into my eyes as she replied,
"Alana's dying. Last time I saw her, she's at the Lightwell with the few remaining Shadow Clan members, and they're trying to nurse her back to health, but nothing seems to help. She needs you, Leo." I gasped. Alana was dying. She needed me. There was still hope for Slugterra. I could image her beautiful face, beaded with sweat, ghastly pale, her shivering form lying down on the Lightwell as she did years before, the dark energy sapping her energy, the light energy from the Lightwell sustaining her.
"We have to heal Slugterra." I annouced and I was about to walk away when Crystine said,
"Wait. Leo." I turned back to her, who was pale.
"Tell Kayla I'm here, I bet she's been worried sick." I smiled and responded,
"I was gonna do that." Then I left. I made my way to the Hades Cabin and knocked in the door.
"Coming!" I heard Nico exclaim and a few seconds later, he answered the door, only his jeans on. His bare chest was pale and he was lean, like he exercised, but ate too little. I could almost see his ribs. He blushed into a furious shade if crimson red when he saw me, and stammered,
"Oh, u-um hi Leo." He let me in and started digging through his closet for a shirt. I commented,
"You should eat more, you know, it'll do you some good." He found and shirt and put it on.
"Eh, why are you even here?" He asked, and I told him,
"Crystine survived, she wants to see Kayla-" His obsidian black eyes widened as he grabbed my shouders, and as he looked into my eyes and dug his fingers into my shoulder blades, he asked me desperately,
"WHERE IS CRYSTINE?" I pushed him off my and massaged my shoulders. Dam, he should cut his nails. I responded,
"In the infirmary, she wants to see Kayla." I saw red soak through my shoulder and I pulled my shirt just a bit, to look at the wound. Bloody, red, fingernail marked dug into my skin, making wounds. Nico gaspdd ad he saw them and ran to me.
"Oh gods, Leo, I'm so sorry, I think I have some medicine and nectar around here, wait a minute..." He made me sit down on the leather couch, and opened every single cabinet, looking for some nectar and ambrosia.
"Nico, you don't have to, really, it's not a big deal, it's not like I've got gutted by a Dark Ice dagger." I saw him cring, but I ignored it. He took out a bottle of nectar and a bag of ambrosia.
"Lie down and take off your shirt." He commanded, and I protested,
"I'm fine, Nico." He closed the cabinet and said,
"Just let me help you, the infirmary would make you stay in there for days and bandage your shoulders and give you restrictions and all that. And we have to defend camp from monsters. This is much easier." I reluntically lied down and took off my Camp Half Blood shirt. I realised I had 5 wounds on each shoulder, not just one. Nico took a stool and sat next to the couch, his cheeks coloured scarlet red as he gently poured the nectar on my shoulders. Please don't let him be gay again or this would be so wrong.
Striker: I know the feeling
Percy: Same here
Nico: Shut up.
I waited for Nico to finish. I would have just thanked him and ran out of there when he was done, but I saw Kayla come downstairs. Her vibrant red, straight hair was tied up in a ponytail, and her leaf green eyes shone brightly and reminded me painfully of Alana. I have to go to Slugterra. I have to find her.
"You guys wanna get a room?" She asked, and Nico groaned with irritation.
"Kayla, before I try to kill you, can you please shut your mouth?" He asked, politeness forced through his gritted teeth. He quickly finished up healing my wounds, and I sat up. As I grabbed my shirt, I informed Kayla,
"Crystine survived, she got back early with Anthony. She's resting up in the infirmary." Before I could exit, Kayla, who was half my height, exclaimed,
"BLOODY HELL, SHE'S ALIVE?!" Without hesitation, she bolted out of the door, and to the infirmary. I awkwardly thanked Nico and exited the Hades cabin.
Anthony's POV
"He went to Slugterra? He actually dared to go there seven times despite his blood type?" A deep, bass like voice from my left asked with curiosity, amazement and shock. I wanted to call him a pussy, but I could hardly muster the strength to open my eyes.
"Looking for survivors, and his sister." A familiar female voice answered from the right, and I immediately recognized the voice. It belonged to my nurse, Empira.
"Why?" The male's voice asked with disbelief. Empira's voice responded in her obnoxious tone,
"His sister is his only family, and he's obsessed with finding her, don't you know that by now?" If I had enough energy, I would scare the shit out of Empira and laugh as she tried to straighten out her blond hair as I see the shock in her blue eyes. The deep, male voice blantly pointed out,
"I don't blame him. I know how it's like to lose family." His voice was suddenly sad, and full of hurt. Empira sounded like she was gonna say more when I finally mustered the strength to move my eyelids just a little, because they were too heavy.
"Anthony? Are you awake?" Empira asked with concern, a tone she could only pull off with me for some reason. The male voice asked,
"You ok?" I tried to say something, but all of a sudden, my head pounded and I groaned.
"Anthony, stay awake, I got something..." I heard fumbling, a slug being loaded into a blaster and the sound of a blaster firing. I felt myself get hit, and newfound energy coursed through my veins. I opened my eyes and my headache was gone. I saw Empira with her blond hair tied in a ponytail, already putting down her raven black blaster and walking to me, her dark blue eyes behind glasses.
"Nice to meet you, Anthony Héroe." I heard the male voice greet from my left, and I turned to see the man with the deep voice. He had chocolate brown hair and brown eyes, fair skin, and he had the build of a soldier and a strict hair cut. I asked,
"Who are you?" I asked, and he answered,
"Avies, from Camp Jupiter. I'm in the Second Cohort, and I'm a son of Apollo. I'm just here because she needs to train me, or that's what she said." I turned to Empira and smirked, and she sighed with exasperation,
"Anthony, you have the mind of a 2 year old!" I tried to sit up and tell her that I was actually 25, but nausea overcame me and a migraine started to form in my head. She quickly pushed me back down and ordered,
"Don't move, you haven't gained enough strength. You still have a high fever. Ambrosia and nectar just increases your temperature." She looked inside the cabinets and searched for Apollo's special made fever medicine. Being in Slugterra gives me fevers with really high temperatures, due to the whole of Slugterra being ghouled and everything, and I'm always stuck in the infirmary after each visit to Slugterra. That's how I met Empira. She's like my personal nurse, every time after I come back from searching, she nurses me back to my normal state. It's always her, not any other person.
"She's always nursing you back to health?" Avies asked me, and I muttered,
"Yes." I groaned again, nausea threatening to spill from my mouth, a migraine pounding in my skull. I closed my eyes, trying to shut out the light. I heard high heels walk towards me, and as I moaned she spoke softly,
"Shhh, Anthony, I have the medicine, shhhh..." I opened my eyes, and saw Empira pouring some of the medicine into a table spoon, and despite my immense headache, I snapped,
"Empira, you've done enough, bandaging my wounds and everything, can I at least feed myself?" She looked like she was about to baby me with her soft tone, and I was right. She told me,
"Anthony, your energy levels are lower than usual-" I already knew how much to take at one time, so using the bit of energy I had, I pushed her away from my bedside table, held the medicine in place so it didn't fall off the spoon as I made a snatch for it and ate the horrid medicine. Before Empira could stop me, I took another table spoon and gulped down a glass of water. By the time she was on my bedside, I was already falling asleep.
"You gotta admit, Empira, he's fast." Avies's words were the last thing I heard as my eyes closed and I was plunged into a deep and peaceful sleep. Wait, scratch out peaceful.
I was sitting down on a familiar couch, although I didn't know why it felt familiar. I looked around, and I saw baby blue wall paper with multicolored hand prints put there by paint. One was the hand on a man, which was in bright yellow, another a woman, who's hand print was sea green. Two more hand prints were shown, one purple, one orange. The orange hand print was smaller than the purple one, but not by much. Lastly, there was the hand print of a baby, who couldn't be more than 3 years old. Her hand print was in sapphire blue. All of the hand prints had the same look to it: old, forgotten, just like the rest of this house. I walked over to the 5 hand prints. I traced the baby's hand print, and a flood of memories came back to me: me teaching my baby sister how to walk, how to talk, playing with her, laughing as she laughed. I remembered the amount of love I felt. Then I remembered. This was my home, before my life turned to complete hell. The place where I raised Ally for the first two years of her life.
"Anthony, my dear boy." I hear a watery, yet beautiful and painstakingly familiar voice greet, and joy filled up my body as I turned around and saw my mother, her arms outstretched, her face lifting my heart with joy as I ran into her arms and wrapped mine around her slender figure. In her arms, I felt like a little boy again, and I thought of the good times I had as a child, when I played robot Slugformers with Aquito, as Ally fell asleep on my Nemo soft toy while we watched a movie at home in our living room.
"Mom, I miss you, I miss you so much.." I trailed off and hugged her tighter. She smiled and hugged me back, just slightly tighter. When we finally parted, she stroked my cheek and gave me her proud smile, a smile she gave Luna, Ally and I when we achived something important, like me winning my running competition, Ally learning to walk, Luna getting the highest grade in the entire class. She told me,
"Anthony, wake up. Allyson is here." At that very moment, I felt myself being pulled away from my mother, and she gave me her proud smile as she mouthed the words,
"I love you." I desperately tried to fight the wind that was pushing me away from my dear mother.
I woke up with a start, immediately sitting up. Leo was standing by the curtain, his signature smile plastered on his face. He asked me,
"You okay, Anty?" I nodded, feeling much better. He chuckled and told me,
"Empira was pissed." I chuckled, and his smile widened as he said,
"Happy birthday, Anty. I forgot my present back in my cabin, but I brought the Authors' present." I saw some shadows swirl up for a few seconds, and after it ended, my dear, younger sister was standing in front of my bed, a small present in her left hand, and a birthday cake in her right.
"Happy birthday, Ant Man!" She exclaimed, and my heart lifted with happiness.
"Ally...you're alive!" Just seeing her fueled me with new energy, and I got out of bed and hugged her, tears of joy springing freely from my eyes as she put the cake and her present on the table. She wrapped her arms around me, and patted my back as I tried to stop sobbing with happiness, which was kinda embarassing, but I didn't care. All I cared about was my sister, and that she was alive, that she was ok, and that she was here, in my arms.
"Ally...I missed you so much...oh gods I love you..." I managed to utter as I pulled her close to me, muttering thanks to the gods for bringing her to me safely.
And that moment, everything was perfect.
Leo S: It's been a while since Ally gave us a nice ending
Anthony: I think this is my favorite ending so far
Ally: Oh hoe you ain't see nuthin yet
Then Ally's eyes rolled up to the back of her head as she collapsed into my arms, and her body turned cold.
Anthony: ALLY CAN YOU NOT
Ally: I cannot not, but I can knot, or can I not knot? Maybe I cannot not knot :D
Anthony: -.-
Leo S: You ruined a perfectly happy ending
Ally: :)
Leo S: How could you
Ally: It's my job :D
