Perma-death isn't on, you can be brought back by having an inside source kill the cam account from the 'void room' or kill them from the outside. In this case X simply respawned. Hope this wasn't confusing.

What's the point of making something, only to have it destroyed? Is this what happens to something I hold dear? Love it only to have it be ripped away?

Ren spawned into hermitcraft and his head swam. Memories flooded back to him and he felt a stab of guilt for leaving renthebob. Voices came closer as he looked up. 'Scar' stood over him with Xisuma beside him. Panic erupted inside Ren as the flashback of 'Scar' killing him. He tackled Xisuma to the ground and growled when 'Scar' came close. "X, give. Me. Your. Sword." Ren spat. X looked confused but complied and gave Ren his sword. Ren lunged at 'Scar' and tried to slit his throat. 'Scar' blocked and swept Ren's feet from under him. Ren fell on the ground but rolled out of the way when 'Scar's' blade stabbed the ground where Ren's head had been. The wolf hybrid got up and into a fighting position again. Ren unsheathed his claw and dug them into the ground. Gripping the sword tighter he swung and managed to cut 'Scar's' upper arm. 'Scar' hissed and switched arms. Xisuma just stood there, dumbfounded. Ren jumped to 'Scar's' backside and cut his Achilles' tendon. 'Scar' screamed in pain and dropped his sword. Ren said goodbye and turned his sword around. Bashing 'Scar's' head in, a ding pinged and Scar spawned into the server. "Ow. Ren," Scar took a deep breath in, "THAT HURT LIKE-" he was cut off by Ren covering his mouth with his hand. "X, we have some explaining to do." Scar said. "Please start from the beginning." X said and the trio of hermits sat down and begun to talk.
