Thank you for the many years you raised me

Making sure I had everything that I needed

Giving me a place to lay my head

And putting food in my stomach

For we never knew how much that meant

Until you get out and have to fend for yourself

The blanket coverage called love in which I was surrounded

Makes me appreciate the sacrifices you made more

As now I'm an adult and I have to do on my own

And realize what it's like to take care of a home

You possibly risked your future to be a wonderful parent

I can't imagine your challenges as you were being my caregiver

So I'd like to take this time out to thank you

For being the parent you was that raised me to be strong
