Unlike Nightmare who was born from pure 'magic', Dream was born from a soul. Soul, not SOUL, not one of the things that follows the laws of the Multiverse they reside in.
A soul so young, barely a teen, with a future destined for great things.
But... That doesn't take away all the pain (and loneliness, and self-hatred, and many more things) the young soul has, and had experienced throughout his short life.
Despite brightening up his friends' days, he himself wallowed in darkness.
Always at the brunt of jokes and jabs.
Always being made fun of.
Always being rediculed.
Always expected to be deadlast.
All to appease the ones he called friends, who will never look at him the same way he does to them.
Maybe God answered his prayer. Or maybe some higher being up there finally noticed him and took pity on his pitiful death, he doesn't know. Because for the first time since the Third's death, he felt warmth.
"Kurama?..."
He called out absentmindedly to his ever-present companion, the so called manifestation of hatred and cruelty himself, who, ironically, is one of the very few who cares about this now dead young boy in the entire village hidden in the Leaf.
"Yes, kit?"
The Kyuubi was gentler than he would have liked, but he doesn't care about that now.
The stupid Uchiha had done it, like many of his predecessors.
"Will i ever get to see you again?"
He knew his Kit's soul would be gone to the afterlife soon, somewhere he could never ever reach, no matter how much he wanted to.
And another one of those few who genuinely cared about him is about to go there, and he can never follow the kid.
"... I don't know.." The mighty tailed beast answered, looking at the fading form of his favourite Jinchuuriki.
"If only you could be with me, this time on your own free will."
The child whispered as his body became mist-like.
"Goodbye, Kurama, and take care."
Such an impact from a young human on the great Kyuubi did not go unnoticed from the higher beings up there.
Besides, even if his life here has ended, doesn't mean another life couldn't start for him.
Even if Kurama couldn't go with him to the afterlife, doesn't mean he couldn't be with his Kit's reincarnation.
The higher beings decided.
Maybe a change of scenery would do good for them.
They could work something out with The Creator of the parallel multiverses.
That day, the mighty village of the Hidden Leaf lost it's Jinchuuriki, and the Bijuu was nowhere to be found.
Not a single trace of red Chakra.
"Now, you may all be wondering why i am gathering you all here." Tsunade said with a grimace, the tear marks on her cheeks have yet to fade, and the puffy eyes suggests she had been crying a lot.
"Uchiha Sasuke has been successfully retrieved-"
The mass of villagers cut her off with a loud cheer.
"-and Uzumaki Naruto has been officially labled Killed In Action."
At first, it was silent, then the villagers started cheering one by one, until it became deafening.
"The Monster's finally dead!"
"Uchiha-sama killed it!!"
"Serves it right for killing our loved ones!!"
"Uchiha-sama finished what the Fourth started."
Tsunade couldn't take it anymore. Her fists were clenched so tight it drew blood.
The rest of the Genin squad were horrified at the villagers, and Neji now understands why Naruto related to his pain.
Naruto had felt even worse.
The open hatred of the villagers made them sick, and Sakura felt horrible for how she treated Naruto before.
"SHUT UP!!!" Tsunade finally roared, using Chakra to enhance her voice.
"Now that Uzumaki Naruto is no longer alive, the S-class secret kept by the Third Hokage is no longer active."
The villagers murmured happily among themselves, thinking that now they could openly badmouth the fallen Jinchuuriki.
"Thirteen years ago, on October Tenth, a baby was born from Uzumaki Kushina, the previous Kyuubi Jinchuuriki, the night the Kyuubi was released. The Kyuubi was then sealed into that baby by his own father, the Fourth Hokage, Namikaze Minato, in hopes of his villagers viewing his son as a hero. Of course, it backfired. And now everyone knows of the Kyuubi Jinchuuriki named Uzumaki Namikaze Naruto."
All joy dissapeared, replaced by the feeling of dread and horror.
"Congratulations, you tortured and wronged the son of your hero. I hope you feel good about yourselves." Tsunade growled.
The whole village was silent, safe for the Konoha 12 (now 11)'s rage.
"How could you?! He was a child!!" Tenten yelled, clearly upset.
"Sasuke got the Curse Mark and left the village and you demand him back, and now Naruto sacrificed himself for your selfish demands and you laugh over his death?!" Many looked down in shame.
"I am ashamed to have called you my people."
"How disgraceful."
"Disgusting human beings they are."
"How fucking dare you!!"
"How the mighty have fallen, what a drag."
The clan heads shot venomous comments at the crowd, prompting in most of them collapsing to their knees.
Sasuke, who was at the local hospital, watched everything play out from the window.
He realized he knew nothing about Naruto at all.
Naruto had nothing to begin with, and his life was far worse than Sasuke's after the masacre.
Blinded by rage and thirst for revenge, he forgot the only family he had left: Itachi.
His brother would never say something like that.
And with regret came the guilt and self-loathing, and he wondered if Naruto, who, underneath that mask of happiness, felt like this all the time.
That day, the world lost it's future savior, and a new path was opened for all of them.
Elsewhere, under an apple tree, the Spirits of Positivity and Negativity came into existence.
