Different Perspective
I basked in the sun's warm rays when I felt it touched my bare shoulder. Me and David have agreed to spend a day out in the beach since we have longed been wanting to take a time out from our busy schedules.
"Hey, Love.", he said with a wink when I reached him by the seashore. I was about to say something when he suddenly knelt down and pulled out a red box. I knew at that moment that it isn't any ordinary day.
My eyes welled up with tears not with happiness but with deep sadness. I saw a few meters behind him the man whom I love so dearly.
It was disappointing and surprising when he understood how I felt that time because he gave me a sad smile and stood up, meeting my eyes.
"I-I'm sorry." I said through my tears. "But I love Flint. I'm really, really sor-ry." I sniffed and he gave me a hug to console me.
"I love you and I want you to be happy." David said, giving me one last kiss before letting me go.
That became the time when Flint approached me and let me cry with him. For a friendship lost and for the true love I had found.
It took me and David more than five years before we could finally look at each other's eyes again without awkwardness and with acceptance of our fate.
It was our different perspectives that made my relationship with Flint stronger while our similarities made it otherwise for me and David.
In life, we may not always end up with the person we care about. But God will always lead us to the one who we deserve to have.
