CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT: LET'S DO THIS

Lara was standing in the guestroom when suddenly the door closed behind her which cause her to turn around to look to see Five.

"We need to talk" he said "There is nothing to talk about" she said.

"Okay, what is wrong with you. Before the bar you were ready to help but it was like after we left you acted like you didn't care if I got hurt or not" Five said as he lifted his arms before he lower them again.

"Did I say something or do something to you?" he asked "No" she said as she shook her head "Then what happen?" he asked "I don't want to talk about it. Beside it's not your business" she said "It is, 'cause I was very close in getting killed by my other self" he said "Now you are being dramatic. Beside I don't think it's a good idea you know" she said "Why not?" he asked.

"Listen, just because we slept together doesn't mean we are boyfriend and girlfriend now" she said "I know that. But I care about you" he said "Yeah, right" she said sarcastically.

"What the hell happen to you? You are not like that" he said "You don't know anything about me" she said "That's because you wouldn't let anyone in. I know that someone have broken your heart and therefore you are afraid to get to close to people. That guy, the father of your twins, broke your heart and he is the reason you find it difficult to trust people, but I'm not him" Five said and she let out a chuckled.

"What is that supposed to mean?" he asked "I don't want to talk about it" she said "Why not?" he asked "I don't want to talk about it, just leave me alone okay" she said before she walked towards the door but he put his hand on the door, closing it again.

"Let me out" she said as she glance at him "No, not until you tell me what happen back there" he said "Let me out" she said "No" he said "Move away" she threated "Or else, what are you gonna to do?" he asked as he raise a brow.

Then suddenly she threw a fist at him, hitting him right in the face causing him to let out a grunt before he stumble back, holding his hands to his nose.

"Move away, that was all I ask. Don't treat me like some girl that is obsessed with you or that I'm your sex doll, 'cause I'm not. Just leave me alone. It's not that hard and also stay away from my kids" she said before she walked out of the bedroom.

Five removed his hands from his nose to see blood on his fingers.

Lara walked out of the bedroom before entering the living room to see Mitch and Andy sitting on the couch "Is everything okay mom?" Mitch asked and Lara looked over her shoulder to see Five standing in the bathroom, wiping his bloody nose with some tissue.

The two glance at each other before Lara looked away "Everything is fine. I think we just need to focus on a way of getting home" Lara said.

Five threw the last bloody tissues in the trash before he put his hands on the sink while he looked himself in the mirror. He didn't understand why Lara was acting like that. And he also found it weird that what just happen just got him more attracted and interested in her, and if he has to admit it, he was actually slowly falling in love with her.

"GUYS, GET DOWN HERE" they heard Luther shouting from downstairs.

Everyone but Klaus was standing in front of the television in Elliott's store listening to what the reporter on the news was saying.

Five was standing with his back leaning against the railing by the end of the stairs. His hands was crossed in front of his chest and his right leg was cross over his left.

Luther was standing on Five's right side and Vanya was standing on Luther's right side as Allison was standing on the stairs with her arms leaning on the railing while Diego had his right arm rested on the railing by the foot of the stairs as Lara, Mitch and Andy was standing next to Vanya 

"Authorities are asking for help identifying several persons of interest at Dealey Plaza at the time of the assassination. The FBI believes that may have been acting in concert with alleged shooter, Lee Harvey Oswald" The reporter said as he was holding up a picture of Lee Harvey Oswald.

He put down the picture before holding up another one, that was a mugshot of Vanya.

"Vanya Hargreeves, wanted in connection with the deaths of serveral FBI agents inside the federal building at Dealey Plaza" he said before the picture changed to a mugshot of Diego.

"A Cuban exile know only as Diego..." the reporter said "Cuban?" Diego asked quietly "...Who recently escaped from the Hobrook Sanitarium" the reporter said.

The picture changed to a mugshot of Luther standing next to Jack Ruby "A bare-knuckle boxer with suspected Mafia ties who fight under the alias 'King Kong'" the reporter said and Luther rolled his eyes before looking off to the side.

When the picture changed to a mugshot of Allison, she rolled her eyes.

"Allison Chestnut, a Negro radical responsible for instigating and organizing the recent riots at Stadtler's lunch counter" the reporter said and Allison glanced around the room before looking back at the TV.

The picture changed to a stained glass window of Klaus. "And finally, Klaus, the controversial cult leader and know tax evader." The reporter said.

"The FIB is asking the public to be on the lookout for this unidentified young girl and this unidentified boy" The reporter said as he held up a mugshot of Lara and Five that was looking over the fence at the grass knoll.

"Who they believe are both being held hostage by the suspected terrorist network..." the reporter said and Five nodded "Well, it's true. I do feel like I'm being held hostage most days" he said "Yeah. Well, we got ourself into this whole apocalypse mess. Beside you brought this whole doomsday things with you and if we ever get out of here, we're going to end up on unsolved mysteries cases but at least we're not being hunted down" Lara said.

"The FIB is asking the public to be on the lookout for the twins name Mitch and Andy" The reporter said as he held up a mugshot of Mitch and Andy walking into the FBI building "Who they believe are both being held hostage by the suspected terrorist network..." the reporter said.

"God, I hate that photo" Diego said "They're saying I instigated the riot? That's unbelievable" Allison said with a scoff "Look, the good news is that we restored the timeline and we stopped doomsday. So--" Luther said "Yeah, a bunch of real goddamn heroes. We let Kennedy die" Diego said "Yeah, and now we're officially the most wanted people in the world. The FBI is after us, the Dallas police, the Secret Service. It's only a matter of time before they hunt us down here" Allison said as Klaus walked down the stairs behind her.

"Well, where are we supposed to go?" Vanya asked as Klaus walked down the last two stairs before walking in front of them "I have this yurt just outside Reykjavik. We could totally lay low there. Folks there are a little weird, but lovely. Welcoming---" Klaus said but Five cut him off "Hey, numbnuts" he said and Klaus turned around to look at him "Hiding's not gonna make a difference here. The Commission will hunt us down wherever and whenever we go" he said

"He's right. They'll never stop" Diego said causing Five to turn to him and he furrowed his brows before he shook his head.

"I'm sorry, since when are you an expert on The Commission?" he asked "Since I got back from there" Diego said "What?" Five asked "Yeah, they headhunted me, offered me a job. Full time with benefits which I had to turn down" Diego said "They headhunted you..." Five said before he let out a fake laugh "The village idiot" he said with a chuckled "What, am I not allowed to be headhunted. Only the almighty Five needs to be in demand?" Diego said while the others rolled their eyes "Why are you acting like it's good to be headhunted?" Lara asked.

"Diego, you're not Commission material, all right? Got an obstinate nature to ya" Five said "Who do you think it was that figured out Vanya was the one that causes doomsday and stopped it? Me" Diego said "Hey!" Klaus said.

"That's who" Diego said before he walked up in front of Five and leaned towards him while Five tilted his head, watching him in amusement.

"I figured it all out on the Infinite Switchboard" Diego said "You were on the Infinite Switchboard?" Five asked "Hell, yeah. I made that machine my bitch" Diego said out loud "Y'all need to recognize I got shit going on y'all don't even know about" he said as he looked around at the others.

"Oh, sorry. You've got things going on?" Allison asked "This isn't helpful" Luther said as Vanya walked upstairs.

"Look, I met the Résistance in their secret lair. All right? I went through orientation and I passed and I stopped doomsday. At least I wasn't busy playing with myself..." Diego said, pointing at Five.

"Oh, sorry. You've got things going on?" Allison asked "This isn't helpful" Luther said as Vanya walked upstairs.

"FYI, Five was actually trying to get a briefcase to get you guys out of here" Lara said.

"I wasn't playing with myself" Five said "No, cause you have you Lara for that" Diego said "Gross" Lara said as she fade a face in disgust.

"Wait I thought you and Five were---" "No" Lara said cutting Klaus off.

"How is your girlfriend Diego by the way. The one that drug you and kidnapped?" Lara asked "Hey" Diego said as he snapped his head at her "Okay, leave Lara out of this" Five said.

"Can you dispense with the dick-measuring for five minutes?" Allison asked annoyed "Unless you can literally 'cause Ben and I--" Klaus said but Luther cut him off "We don't have time for this. The Feds could be here any minute" he said "That's what I've been saying" Allison said "I'm agreeing" Luther said "Okay, calm down, Hairy--" "Hey, it's King Kong. And I'm sick of your ass, okay" Luther said, cutting Five off.

"Diego, how did you get back?" Lara asked "A briefcase" Diego answered "And you didn't think to I don't know, bring it back with you, which mean that there technically might still be doomsday because we are still here. Now that we have this thing going on, we could have an impact on the future. This could create an alternate timeline. So don't act like you were the one that saved the world because you are not the only one here. So don't blame Five for something like that, if you do you will regret it" Lara said "Like you can hurt me" Diego said "She actually can, don't believe me, ask Luther" Five said and Diego looked at Luther "She can, she hurt both Fives. So we better not provoke her" Luther said "Are you scared of her?" Diego asked "No" Luther said as he shook his head "But I have feeling that you should be cause she look protective now" he said "I'm not scared of her, beside Five can stop her" Diego said "I actually can't" Five said.

"Yeah, okay, you win" Diego said "Guys, we need to move, okay? That is more important here. That is our only option" Luther said "We need to box those window and stay here" Diego said "I don't think that is gonna stop them" Andy said "It wouldn't" Five said as Vanya walked down to them "I'm leaving" she said and they all turned around to look at her.

"What? To go where?" Allison asked her "Sissy's farm. Something's wrong with Harlan, and I need to help him" Vanya said "Vanya, we need to stick together, okay? Now more than ever" Luther said as he took a step towards her "That's why I'm telling you this" Vanya said as she took a step forward "Whatever's going on with Harlan, I think I might've caused it" she said "How?" Luther asked and Vanya let out a sigh.

"He drowned, and, uh, somehow I was able to bring him back to life. And now it's like we're connected" she said "Wh...What does that even mean?" Diego asked "I don't know. I can't explain, but....I know that he need my help. I need your help, too. I'm scared. And the first time in my life, I don't wanna do it alone. I want my family by my side" Vanya said as she glanced at Lara, Mitch, Andy and the others.

Diego crossed his arms before taking a step forward "Look, I'm sorry. We have other priorities right now" he said "Diego's right. For once. We need to make our stand here and now" Five said.

 Vanya looked at Allison who looked at the floor to avoid her gaze, Vanya then turned to Klaus who looked away.

"Okay. I guess I'll see you when I see you" she said before she walked out of the door and into her car.

Then Klaus got up and followed after her.

"Shouldn't you guys help her, Vanya is your sister, and in a family you help and protect each other, no matter what" Mitch said "Come on guys, who cares if The Commission and the police are after us, are we really going to let that stop us, no. You guys are heroes and a family, now is time to act like one. We're going to fight this out together" Andy said 

"Vanya is family and you will do anything for your family. She need our help now. Family comes first. Family is the first priority, that's what we were taught. You didn't come this far just just to give up. If we are all gonna die, we might as do something good instead of just sitting on our assess. We need to help Vanya. People are stronger together therefore we're gonna help Vanya, so you guys can either say here if you want. I'm not gonna force you to come. Don't come just because you feel guilt, come because you love your sister and you want to help her. Family isn't always about blood, it's about love and loyalty. And if you guys are not gonna help, then we are gonna help" Lara said before her and the twins turned around and left.

"Well, I'm in, let's go" Diego said before him and Allison left.

Vanya put her keys in the car, but then the front door opened "So, so, so...." Klaus said as he step into the car before sitting down next to Vanya.

"Ben, huh? Gone forever. Isn't he?" he asked and she nodded "He traded his life for mine...while he saved the world in process" she said "Pfft. Show-off" he said before he looked forward "But did he...say anything about...me?" he asked as he look back at her and she nodded "He wanted me to tell you that he was too scared to go to the light. It wasn't you that made him stay" she said "Oh, that little shit-heel" he said as he let out a chuckled "All these years and I thought it was my fault, that he didn't take his ticket to heaven" he said with a smile before he let out a small laugh.

His face then dropped before he turned back to look forward.

"Look, I'm sorry, but...you should get out cause I need to--" she said but he cut her off "Oh, no, I'm coming with. I can't let you face the unknown alone, right?" he said.

Then the back doors opened and Diego got in behind Klaus while Allison got in behind Vanya.

"Got room for two more?" Allison asked "What about The Commission?" Vanya asked as she turned to look at the two in the back.

"Well, might as well do some good before we die horribly" Diego said "Whoo-hoo!" Klaus said with his hands in the air.

Then Lara and the twins came over to the car "Mitch, Andy, Lara. You three don't have to" Vanya said "Yes we do" Mitch said "You owe me Vanya, bringing my sons in danger. 'Cause I know they will help you and I can't let them fight for themself, I might not have superpowers, but I can help" Lara said and Vanya smiled.

Five then opened the door on Klaus' side before he leaned down to look at Vanya.

"Five, you...you don't have to---" Vanya said "I know. You owe me one, sis" he said, smiling to her.

Five then looked at Klaus "Children ride in the back" he said "Okay" Klaus said and crawled on the back seat between Diego and Allison "Whoa!" Allison said as Klaus sat down in the back seat "Oh, Christ" Allison said.

Five then sat then sat down on the front seat "There is not enough space for you guys" Vanya said "Lara can sit on Five's lap" Klaus said and Five blush a little bit before he looked at Lara "Don't flatter yourself asshole, never going to happen. Beside" Lara said before she pulled up some carkeys "Good we have another car" she said as she looked at the second car in the alleyway.

 "Guys, I don't know what to say" Vanya said as she was looking at them.

"Let's do this" Andy said "We will take the other car" Lara said before her and the  twins walked over to the other car.

Then the trunk of the car opened with a squeaked noise and dropped with a loud thud. The car squeaked as Luther climbed inside the back making the car shook and the back of the car bent down making it hit the ground.

Luther slammed the trunk door shut before he looked at the others "Anyone makes a fat joke, and I'm outta here" he said and they all smiled before Vanya turned on the engine and drove away with car Lara and the twins was sitting in, right behind them.

As soon as the family arrived at the farm, they could hear wind whistling, energy crackling, sizzling and lighting crashes.

There was a yellow house and a green bar off to the side. The long driveway that lead up to the barn and the house was covered in show.

They could see that a huge cloud was over the barn and the whole farm area was covered in snow and you could see that the snow was coming from the big cloud above the barn.

"I think it's a little bit early for Christmas" Andy said "It is" Lara said before she glanced at her sons.

"Boys" she said and the two looked at her "No matter what happen, you two stay out of fight and watch out for each other. You stay safe okay. I can't lose you two" Lara said "You wouldn't mom" Mitch said "And we promise to be careful" Andy said.

Energy kept crackling from the inside of the barn which was glowing and flashing green. Lightning hit the barn again, making a crackling noise.

Vanya slowed down in front of the bar as another lighting hit the barn again.

As soon as the two cars stopped, Lara and the others all got out of the car before Lara, Mitch and Andy ran up to the twins

"You think whatever's going on inside is causing the cold front?" Diego asked "Well, the correlation is high" Five said as they all looked at the barn while stepping closer to it.

Then a blonde woman rushed out of the barn with a rifle before she aimed at the family causing Five's reflex and instinct to kick in and he move in front of Lara, Mitch and Andy to protect them.

"Sissy! Sissy!" Vanya said "Get back! All of you, just get the hell back" Sissy warned and Klaus raised his hands up as Sissy ran down a small hill before stopping with the rifle pointed at the others.

"Sissy! Hey! Hey! What's wrong?" Vanya asked as she took a step towards Sissy "Carl" Sissy said quietly while panting as Vanya had her hand out to Sissy "What did he do you?" Vanya asked.

"He's..." Sissy said, her breath was shaken "He's dead" she said and Vanya put her hand down "Harlan tossed him aside like a rag doll, same way you sent those policemen flyin' What did you do to him?" Sissy asked and Vanya shook her head "No--" "What the hell did you do to my son?" Sissy asked.

"Don't have time for this" Diego said and took a step forward but then Sissy pointed the rifle at him causing him to stop "Where you think you're going?" she asked "To help your son" Diego said as he put his hand out towards Sissy while Luther walked towards him.

"Look, Sissy, I found my family" Vanya said and Sissy looked at her "These are my brothers, my brother's girlfriend and her kids" Vanya said "I'm not his girlfriend" Lara said annoying. 

 "Ma'am" Luther said with a smile as he waved at Sissy.

Sissy lowered the rifle before looking back at Vanya "Were you lyin' to me the whole time?" she asked "Of course not" Vanya said as she took another step towards Sissy "Look, I didn't know who I was. But I do now. And we are not monsters that they say we are. We did not killed the president. We are not terrorists. We're not here to hurt anyone" Vanya said "Then...who are you?" Sissy asked "The only one who can help Harlan" Vanya said.

"Sissy" Lara said as she stepped around Five "Lara--" Five said as he tried to grab her but she push his hand away.

"Sissy, I know you want to protect your son and I understand you. Any mother would do anything they can to protect their child" Lara said and Sissy looked at her "Any real parent would" Lara said as she glance at her sons "I will do anything to protect my sons too" she said before she looked back at Sissy.

"I risk my own kids' safety coming here to help Vanya cause she want to help Harlan. So from one mother to another, let us help" Lara said.

Sissy looked at Mitch and Andy who tilted their heads a little bit.

She nodded and they all rushed to the barn.

The sound of energy crackling got louder as Vanya opened the door to the barn.

Energy resonating was rushing as they enter and they saw Harlan suspended in midair surrounded by blue and golden energy wave spinning around him.

"Harlan" Vanya shouted as the boy was floating in the middle of a blue and orange energy storm while his body was shaking violently.

"Harlan, it's Vanya!" Vanya shouted again, trying to get him to react and to wake up from whatever type of trance he was in. He kept gasping while his body was jerking around as he was being held in midair.

"Look, Harlan, I know you're really scared, but I can help you!" Vanya shouted loudly as everyone was standing beside her.

"I need you to listen to me, okay? Can you do that?" Vanya shouted but he kept gasping.

"Let's us do this" Andy said before him and Mitch was about to step forward but then Lara put her hand on Andy's shoulder while Five put his hand on Mitch's shoulder "No" they said.

"We don't know how it will affect you guys" Lara said "They are right. It's my fault, my powers. So let me do this" Vanya said before she looked at Sissy who nodded and Vanya looked forward before her eyes changed into an icy blue color as her skin turned pale and the sound of high-pitched tone resonates was heard. She then took a deep breath before she walked through the energy and into the circle while Harlan kept grunting.

When Vanya stepped into the circle Lara let out a gasp before she grabbed Five's wrist tight which cause him to look at her and he let out a smile before he looked back at Vanya 

"Careful" Five said as Vanya stepped closer to Harlan.

Then Klaus heard an energy whooshes sound nearby, so he walked towards the other end of the barn.

He furrowed his brows as he saw The Handler and Lila standing farther out on the plot of the land.

"Harlan? I don't know if you can hear me..." Vanya shouted.

"Uh...guys?" Klaus said and they turned to Klaus "What?" Diego asked as he turned his head towards him before the siblings walked over to him.

"Ah, shit" Diego said "What, who are they?" Klaus asked "One's The Handler and the other's Diego's girlfriend" Five said "Lila" Diego said "What?" Klaus asked as he turned around to face Diego "That's my ex-girlfriend" Diego said "You know what? Doesn't matter. They both look angry" Luther said "Yeah" Klaus said "Our brother has that effect on people" Allison said "Tell me about it" Lara said which cause Five to glance at her.

"I'm gonna go find out what they want. You guys stay with Vanya and the kid" Five said "I'm coming with you. Come on" Diego said "Us too" Andy and Mitch said but Lara stop them "Nope, you boys stay here" she said "But--" "No but, you two stay here" Lara said "Fine" the twins said with a sigh.

Then suddenly Lara felt Five's lips on her cheek before he turned around and follow Diego walked out on the field.

Lara turned her head to see her sons, Allison, Luther and Klaus looking at her with a smile "Not a word" she said to them.

"I wonder what they want?" Lara said as she narrowed her eyes at The Handler, like she could recognize her from somewhere.
