CHAPTER EIGHTEEN: HARGREEVES GATHERING

Lara, Mitch, Andy, Five and Diego were all standing in the kitchen with Luther in a robe while he was making some scrambled eggs for breakfast as they were all talking about what happen at the gala last night.

"No, no, no, I don't understand. They keep following me" Diego said as Five was standing leaning against a wall with one hand in his pocket and my other hand was holding a yellow mug while Lara was standing with her back next to Five while Mitch and Andy was sitting next to each other eating breakfast. 

"Wait, who?" Luther asked not looking up from pan in front of him "Those Dutch sociopaths" Diego said "They're Swedish, you idiot" Five said and Lara giggled.

"Who are you laughing at?" Diego asked "You ya moron" Lara said "Five, you better get your girlfriend before I take a knife to her throat" Diego said "Eww, what the fuck" Lara said as she made a face in disgust.

"She's not my girlfriend and from what's worth, you deserved it" Five said "That's what I thought" Lara said "Watch your mouth" Diego said "Just shut up already, we have worse problems here. Those people are hired guns paid to eradicate us before we do any more damage to this timeline" Five said and Diego turned to Five "Yeah, but why now? I mean, I was..." he said snapping his fingers "Fine for three months until you showed up" he said, pointing a finger at him.

"I was here for a year and no one messed with me" Luther said, looking at Five while Diego put his arms out "Shouldn't you guys be thanking Five instead of blaming him since we all alive because of him?" Mitch asked "They should, they are just ungrateful and selfish" Lara said "Since when did you care?" Diego asked "Since now" Lara said "Is there something going on between you and Five?" Diego asked "We also want to know that" Andy said while Mitch nodded since he couldn't speak 'cause he had his mouth full.

"Listen. Even if it was my fault, which it isn't, we only have six days before the end of the world, and the closest anyone's gotten to Dad was that driveway at the consulate" Five said.

"Well" Luther said before he let out a sigh "That's not exactly ture" he said and they looked over at him.

"What do you mean?" Five asked "I saw him" Luther said before he began to tell the story about after he landed in the alley, he took a bus and went a long way to the academy. How he got inside and people were in the living room, gathered in circle around Reginald. How he told Reginald that he was his son. But Reginald said that Luther wasn't his son. Luther then explained to Reginald how he had adopted seven children in 1989. Luther had then tried to convinced Reginald by telling him that he knew about the base on the moon and Reginald's experiments with monkeys. Reginald had then humiliated him.

"That's pathetic" Diego said as Luther sat down at the table where Diego was sitting "Yeah, well, at least he didn't shank my ass" Luther said as he began eating the scrambled eggs "No, bro, he shanked your heart" Diego said from his seat that was across from where the twins were sitting.

Then Five walked over to Lara before turned he grabbed her hand and lifted it up "What are you doing?" she asked but he didn't answer as he grabbed a white rag that was laying close by with his free hand before he lick the tip and started cleaning her knuckles that had small bruises.

"You don't need to" she said "I know. It's just you already have hickeys and scratchs marks on your body, and it was a pretty wild round last night, so I'm just cleaning the bruises, that's the last I can do after last night. Sorry if I hurt you" Five whispered so only Lara could hear.

Right here, Lara saw Five's kind and caring side.

"It's okay. I left hickeys and scratchs marks on your body too" she said "I'm impress that you can walk without a limp" he said "I'm impress your body is not sore" she said "It is, a little bit. Especially after the first round" he said and she chuckled as he let go of her hand.

 Then Elliott walked into the kitchen "Is that my bathrobe?" he asked as he was looking at Luther "No" Luther said with his mouth full as he was looking at Elliott.

"Look, who cares what he shanked? He knows something about time travel" Five said "Um...Wait, why don't you just do your thing and, uh, time trave us out?" Elliott asked and Five let out a scoffed "Anyone care to explain" he said "First time he tried, he got lost in the apocalypse" Luther said as he stared at Five who walked over to the sink

"Second time, he ended up without hair on his balls" Diego said "I could have gone my whole life without knowing that and now I think it's stuck to my mind, so thank you Diego" Lara said sarcastically before she let out a chuckled.

Five glanced at you before he rolled his eyes "Last time I tried, I scattered my family across three years in Dallas, Texas, possibly triggering a doomsday" he said as he poured himself a cup of coffee before he turned to Elliott "Anymore questions, Elliott?" he asked and Elliott shook his head "Uh, no" he said.

"And also, you're not funny Lara" Five said "Oh yeah, why don't you go jerk off in the bathroom with the shrimpy you have?" she asked "Why? You want to see it or something?" he asked as he gave her a flirting look.

"I'm gonna puke" Diego said "In your dreams you little preppy boy" she said "Good now, shut the hell up" Five said.

"Can we get back on topic now?" Luther asked "Yes please" Andy and Mitch said.

"You're missing the big picture. Dad is the ringleader of a sinister cabal that's planning to kill the president" Diego said "A cabal?" Luther asked "Ignore him" Five said before he turned around to his brothers "Look, the way I see it, we only have one option" he said "Oh, yeah? And what's that?" Luther asked "It's time to get the Umbrella Academy back together" Five answered.

"Hell, yeah. Family meeting" Diego said "Okay then, can one of you get Allison, please?" Luther asked before eating another spoonful with eggs.

"You two still a thing?" Diego asked, looking at Luther who tilted his head and Diego leaned forward "Do we need to talk?" he asked "No, she's married" Luther said "Woah. Dude, that's rough" Diego said "I can handle it" Luther said and chuckled before eating another spoonful with eggs "That must hurt for you" Lara said "Well, all you have to worry about is Five getting married to a mannequin" Luther said and Lara rolled her eyes.

"I don't get what you see in him" Diego said "And I don't get what you see in Lila" Lara said as she looked at Diego "But sometimes people do things others don't understand" she said and Five let out a chuckled.

"I'll get her" Five said before he looked at Luther "Can you get Vanya without, uh, squeezing her to death?" he said "I'll try" Luther said and Five looked at Lara and the twins "You three stay here" Five said "I better go with you, just in case" Lara said as she walked over to Five before she looked at Mitch and Andy who was about to get up "No, you boys stay here" Lara said "But--" "No, buts. Back soon" Lara said and Five grabbed her wrist before blinking away.

"So there is definitely something going on between those two" Diego said "Definitely" Luther said "Wait, so there is something going on between Five and our mom" Andy said as the twins looked at the two "Yeah. Haven't you two paid attentive?" Diego asked "We are only 14, not very good with something like this" Mitch said "But we had a feeling that they already like each other when they met. We have tried to put them together" Andy said "So you two wouldn't mind Five becoming your step-dad?" Diego asked "Nope, we like him" Mitch said "I don't get that" Diego said.

Lila entered The Handler's hotel room before she slammed the door shut.

"Did you set me up?" she asked angry as she looked at The Handler "Sweetie, really?" The Handler said "Those Nordic shitwits? You said they were Commission. You said they were on our side. Well, I was in the process of executing our mission, my mission that you gave me, and they got in the way" Lila said "Oh, my" The Handler said "And now my cover's blown. Five wants to kill me, there is no way to get the twins over to our side and I don't know what the hell it is you're after" Lila said.

The Handler looked up at Lila "Did you bring me what I asked for?" she asked and Lila took out Diego's knife from her dress before she threw it on the table "Here. Diego's knife" she said.

"Sit" The Handler said as she picked up the knife "No" Lila said "Yes, you're bleeding, and all that rage is bad for your complexion. Sit" The Handler said as she put the knife back on the table.

"Fine, but I'm not done being mad at you" Lila said as she sat down on the couch next to The Handler "You're right" The Handler said as she got up and she picked up a small bottle with alcohol before she sat down next to Lila "I have been lying to you" she said before she poured some alcohol on the cut on Lila's arm "Commission...has no idea...that we're here" she said "So, what are we doing here?" Lila asked as The Handler started cleaning her cut with a rag "We are...making something right...that has been wrong for a very, very long time" she said before she got up and grabbed a bandage "Just about done with your riddles, Mum" Lila said as The Handler walked back to the couch and sat down next Lila before she covered Lila's cut.

"Oh, are you just about done now? You're done a couple missions, now you know everything? Huh? Is that it? Huh? Big Lila, all in charge, not trusting her mother, her mother who yanked her out of that horrid little slum, her mother who rescued her from those gin-addled, neglectful parents, her mother who taught her how to live, how to love, how to survive?" The Handler asked "You just said you lied" Lila said "You lied to them and they lied to me and everybody lies to everyone else. Grow up, buttercup" The Handler said before she slapped the bandage on Lila's arm "Ow" Lila said and The Handler sighed.

"If I thought you needed to know the truth, I would've told you the truth, but you didn't, and so I didn't, and everything worked out just fine" The Handler said "No, it hasn't. I lost Five and the twin" Lila said "Are they dead?" The Handler asked "No. But he kicked me out of his merry little band" Lila answered.

Lila then noticed something on The Handler's forehead "Uhg. Your wound is weeping" she said "Oh" The Handler said as Lila gave her a tissue "Oh, my dear, that...that's not a problem at all" The Handler said as she hold the tissue to her forehead "Why no?" Lila asked "Well, because..." The Handler said as she got up before walking over to a table "I have a very busy scheduled for us" she said with a smile.

"So info about the four" The Handler said "Well, Lara and Five are growing closer but they will not admit and the twins are also getting closer to Five" Lila explain "So they still don't know?" The Handler asked "No" Lila said as she shook her head.

Both Lara and Five arrived at Allison's house "How are you doing?" he asked "Fine" she said "Do you need me to supported you?" he asked "Fuck off Five" she said "They are already suspect something, they have since day one. I think they're suspicions after seeing us in the same room together" he said as they walked up to the house before Five knocked on the door.

"But just so you know. Us sleeping together have nothing with us being all boyfriend and girlfriend stuff" he said "Fine by me" she said.

Then the door swung open to reveal Allison "Five. Hi" she with a smile before she looked at Lara "I'm Lara. We meet at the theater. I'm Mitch's and Andy's mom" Lara said "Ah, yeah, I do remember you. Come in" she said with a smile.

"We don't have time Allison. We need to go somewhere else right now" Five said. 

"Klaus!" Allison called out "What?" Klaus' voice came from the kitchen.

"It's Five" Allison said and Klaus almost stumbled over the door next to Allison while "Five hi" Klaus said "Hi Klaus" Five said and Klaus looked at Lara.

"I can see that you have gotten a girlfriend" he said which cause Five's and Lara's eyes to widened as they glance at each other before they shook their heads.

"No. No" they both said "I'm Lara. We met at the theater. I'm Andy's and Mitch's mom" she said "Ahh. Now I remember" Klaus said before he glance between Lara and Five "So have you two have sex?" he asked causing their eyes to widened "No" they both said "But you are at least a couple" Klaus said "Not a couple. I don't even know if we are friends" Lara said "Acquaintances" Five said as he had put hands in his pocket.

"Let's just go. We are wasting time" he said.

Some Jell-O that Elliott had made was standing on the coffee table as Mitch, Andy, Diego, Luther and Vanya were all sitting in the living around the coffee table while Elliott was talking about Jell-O.

"Y'all know, Jell-O used to be delicacy. You know, in order to make it, you gotta boil down a whole mess of hooves...you know, horse, cows, pigs, it doesn't matter. But not everybody has a mess of hooves just lying around. It wasn't until, uh...a couple of sassy New Yorkers figured out how to dry it out so that the rest of us could have a...a chance to enjoy this ambrosia" Elliott said "If we have some, will you shut up?" Diego asked "Maybe" Elliott said before he picked up a spoon and a bowl for Diego "Here" he said, scooping up a large portion for him causing Luther to make a weird face in disgust "I'm not eating that" Mitch said "Me either" Andy said as the twins made a face in disgust.

"How are you feeling?" Luther asked as he turned to look at Vanya, trying to get his attention away from the food.

"Pretty shitty, to be honest" Vanya said "Where would you say you are on a scale from one to....ending all life on this planet?" Diego asked as he was flipping his knife with his hand.

"Really Diego?" Mitch asked "Really?" Vanya asked, looking at him and Luther leaned forward a bit "Diego, put the knife away, you idiot. She's fine" he said "The last time I saw this one. She had me suspended midair, sucking the life out of me with energy tentacles" he said before he pointed his knife at Luther "I think I'm allowed a little time to process" he said as he leaned forward.

"Oh, I would love to see an energy tentacle" Elliott said "I don't remember what I did, but I'm sorry...if...if that means anything" Vanya said "It does" Diego said as he placed his arm back down on the armchair "Just going through a lot right now. There's this...girl that I like. I thought she liked me, but turns out that she's..." 

 Then the sound of a door opening and the sound of Allison letting out a laugh.

"Oh, thank God" Luther said before they all got up "Is anyone here? Hello?" Allison said as they all walked over to the railing "Le petit mort, le petit mort" Klaus said "What? You don't speak French" Allison said "It's 'the little death'" Klaus said.

Mitch, Andy, Diego, Vanya, Luther and Elliott all walked over to the railing before they looked down to see Five and Lara with Klaus and Allison.

"Oh, wow. Look at this old stuff" Klaus said before the three looked up to see Diego, Vanya, Luther, Mitch, Andy and Elliott at the top of the stairs by the railing.

"Oh, wow. I know this is impossible, but...did we all get sexier?" Klaus asked and waved up at them.

"Vanya" Allison said, looking up at Vanya "I can't believe I have a sister" Vanya said with a smile before she, Diego, Mitch, Andy and Luther all walked down the stairs, meeting the four.

"Hey, Mitch and Andy" Klaus said "Hi" they said "Woah, you two have gotten older. You almost looks like adult" Klaus said "Still four years till we are adults" Mitch said "We were here for a year" Andy said.

"I missed you" Allison said, looking at Vanya "Thank God someone did" Vanya said before she chuckled softly and Allison chuckled before Vanya put her arms out, taking a step forward before the two hugged each other.

Klaus put his hands on Diego's face while Diego put his hand on the side of Klaus' neck "Oh, you are drunk" Diego said "Yeah. No, just a little...just a few..." Klaus said before he turned to Allison and Vanya who was still hugging "Oh, that's so sweet" Klaus said as he walked over to them "No. Jesus" Allison said while Vanya giggled as he wrapped his arms around them.

"Hi" Vanya said "Hey, Vanny" Klaus said and kissed her on the top of her head.

Five then looked at Klaus "Klaus. Is Ben here?" he asked "Oh, uh...no. No, unfortunately, ghosts can't time travel" Klaus said "Are you kidding me?" Ben said over in a corner which cause Andy and Mitch to flinch when they heard Ben's voice.

"Did you hear that?" Mitch whispered to his brother "I did" Andy said as the two glanced around, trying to find out who said that.

"All right, then. Let's get down to business" Five said "So, Vanny, what's new?" Klaus asked as he followed Vanya upstairs.

"Hey, Diego" Allison said, looking at Diego who just turn to her "Can't say hi to nobody?" she asked "Hi, Allison" Diego said annoyed before he walked upstairs "What was that?" Allison said "Hi, Allison!" Diego said louder "Thank you!" she said.

As Lara was about to go towards the stairs she turned around to see Mitch and Andy looking around "You boys okay?" she asked and they looked back at her "Yeah, we are fine" Andy said "Just thought we heard something" Mitch said before the two took another glance around but there was nothing, so they just follow after Lara up the stairs.

"They could hear me" Ben said, with the sound of hope and happiness that there was someone other than Klaus that could hear him.
