{1} The Boy

***

So one moment, I was laying in my warm and comfortable bed. This had to be one of the best night sleep that I have had in a long time. You know what they say, nothing lasts for long. My sister, Annabeth Chase, came into my room and woke me up. Why you may ask? To ask Chiron if she could go on a quest. This was a question that she has asked a lot and she has always been given the same answer. 'No.'

I even told her when she rushed me out of the Athena cabin that Chiron was only going to tell her the same answer again. The only thing she had said to me was, "It still doesn't hurt to ask." She makes it seem like she hasn't asked him a thousand times already. If you can't tell, Annabeth isn't the type of person to take 'No' for an answer. She will keep pushing until you give her the answer that she wants to hear.

So here we were sitting in the Big House and talking to Chiron. I had zoned out of the conversation and was looking outside of the window. It was a very rainy night and there was lightning every once in a while. Nothing really seemed out of the usual... that was until I saw it. The outline of a figure was walking towards us and it looked like they were carrying someone else. I stood up which caught Chiron and Annabeth's attention.

"What is it, Iria?" Annabeth asked me. Her eyebrows were furrowed which is what she usually did when she was confused. I didn't answer her question and didn't look at her and Chiron's questioning looks. I rushed outside to the front porch and tried to get a closer look at the figures. The porch light was on which was attracting all of the bugs. Some flew around my face and I swatted them away. I heard footsteps behind me and I knew that Annabeth and Chiron have joined me.

The figures kept on getting closer and closer until they finally got to the porch and collapsed. The three of us looked down at the figures and I finally was able to see what the person looked like. It was a boy who looked to be the same age as Annabeth and me. He had dark hair and sea-green eyes, he also looked like he had been crying. The other person who had been with him was Grover.

Annabeth spoke, "He's the one. He must be."

I looked over at her in confusion, "Is that really what you're focusing on right now?"

"Silence, Annabeth, Anastasia," Chiron told us, staring down at the boy as well. I glared at him slightly when he called me by my first name. Iria was my middle name and I went by that mostly. Mostly because it was shorter and it wasn't a mouth full like Anastasia was. "He's still conscious. Bring him inside." He ordered. And just like that, the boy had passed out and Annabeth and I worked together to bring him inside.

Percy's POV:

I had weird dreams full of barnyard animals. Most of them wanted to kill me. The rest wanted food.

I must've woken up several times, but what I heard and saw made no sense, so I just passed out again. I remember lying in a soft bed, being spoon-fed something that tasted like buttered popcorn, only it was pudding. The girl with curly blonde hair hovered over me, smirking as she scraped drips off my chin with the spoon.

When she saw my eyes open, she asked, "What will happen at the summer solstice?" Just then, another girl with blonde hair walked in. To say that she wasn't pretty was a lie. Her hair was wavy and she had piercing blue eyes. She had on a black leather jacket and a pair of jeans.

She raised her eyebrows at the girl who was feeding me, "You could've at least waited until he wasn't disoriented to ask him that." The girl jumped and turned to look back at her.

"He must know something," The girl said. The pretty girl rolled her eyes and walked over. The girl started to ask me more questions, "What's going on? What was stolen? We've only got a few weeks!"

"Don't pressure him." The pretty girl said, looking at my expression.

"I'm sorry," I mumbled, "I don't..."

Somebody knocked on the door, and the girl quickly filled my mouth with pudding.

Iria's POV:

It was awhile after Annabeth asking the boy a bunch of questions. She and I were with Chiron and Mr. D outside on the porch. They were playing a game of cards and Annabeth and I were leaning against the railing, watching them. I heard footsteps and I looked to the corner of my eye to see Grover and the boy walking towards us. The boy was mostly looking at Mr. D.

Grover spoke to him quietly, but I still heard him, "That's Mr. D," He had mumbled to the boy. "He's the camp director. Be polite," Grover looked over at Annabeth and me so I acted like I wasn't looking at them. "The girls are Annabeth and Anastasia. Anastasia is the one in the leather jacket. Also, don't call her Anastasia. She doesn't like to be called that. She goes by Iria," I saw the boy look at me with curious eyes. "They're just campers, but they've been here longer than just anybody. The two of them arrived at the same time. And you already know Chiron..."

I looked away from them and focused on the game in front of me. It was interrupted when the boy called out suddenly, "Mr. Brunner!" I looked at him in confusion. Who was Mr. Brunner? I'm pretty sure I've heard that name before.

I leaned closer to Annabeth, "Who's Mr. Brunner?"

She sighed, "Remember, Chiron told us that he went undercover as a teacher called Mr. Brunner." I thought for a moment and then remembered what she was referring to. In all honesty, I wasn't really paying that much attention.

Chiron turned and looked at the boy with a smile, "Ah, good, Percy," Well, now I can put a name to the face, "Now we have four for pinochle." He offered him a chair to the right side of Mr. D.

Mr. D, being who he is, sighed and looked bored, "Oh. I suppose I must say it. Welcome to Camp Halfblood. There. Now, don't expect me to be glad to see you."

Percy, now sitting beside him, looked uncomfortable and started scooting away from him, "Uh, thanks." He said, a little awkwardly.

"Annabeth, Iria," Chiron called out. Oh, so now he says my middle name. After all the times, I tried to get him to say my middle name and he says it now. Annabeth came forward and dragged me with her, "These young ladies nursed you back to health, Percy," I gave him a slight wave. Chiron turned to address us, "Why don't you two go check on Percy's bunk. We'll be putting him in cabin eleven for now."

"Sure, Chiron," Annabeth said.

"Got it," I also said. I gave the boy one last long glance and noticed the minotaur horn in his hands. I looked up to meet his eyes and he obviously wasn't expecting what I said next, "You drool when you sleep. Did you know that?" Then, I grabbed Annabeth's wrist and went off to do what Chiron had said.

We ended up in front of the Hermes cabin and I knocked on the door. Luke was the one to answer the door and Annabeth instantly froze up. I smirked to myself at her reaction. You see, Annabeth had a crush on Luke, even though she won't admit it. Luke smiled at us, "What do you guys need?"

Before I could say anything, Annabeth cut me off and walked to stand slightly in front of me, "Chiron wanted to know if the new kid's bunk was ready." I think that a place on the floor was the correct term. Hermes, cabin eleven, was the cabin where the Hermes kids, obviously, and the unclaimed kids stayed. There were a lot of unclaimed kids and most of them took up the bunks. This resulted in some people sleeping in sleeping bags on the floor. Luke told us that it was already ready so Annabeth and I waited until Chiron and Percy showed up.
