Cortney spent another summer at the Malfoy's Manor, this time her mother was there. Her father was caught at the Ministry and sent back to Azkaban prison. She was now currently sitting at a small rounded table with her mother. They both had a cup of tea.

" Cortney darling," her mum said.

" Yes mum," Cortney said looking at her.

" We have been in this house together for a few months now," her mum began. " I think it's time I got to know my daughter a little more".

" What do you want to know? " Cortney asking grabbing her mum's hand. This was strange for her, to be touching and talking to her biological mother.

" Who have you dated? Favorite subjects? Worse subjects ? " her mum asked. " Anything, to get to know my little girl, after being away from her for fifteen years".

" I did pretty well in Charms, Transfiguration, Defense Against Dark Arts, and Potions. But I am not the greatest at Herbology and Astronomy," Cortney explained.

" Your father wasn't very good at those subjects either," her mum said grabbing her daughter's hand that was on her own.

" I am a excellent dueler. The best in my year! " Cortney chimed.

" I am glad that one of your talents was passed down to her," said a voice. They looked over and saw the Dark Lord.

" My lord," Bellatrix said bowing her head. Cortney mimicked her mother's moves.

" Stand," the Dark Lord ordered. Both of them stood. He circled them both. " Step forward Cortney". They heard a hissing. Cortney turned her head and saw a snake slithering into the room. " This Nagini". Cortney stepped forward like she was supposed to. " Would you like to become a Death Eater ?"

" You can be like me," her mum said rolling up her sleeve and revealing the mark on her arm. 

" She can also not get the mark and be like me," Aunt Nacrissa said standing at the doorway.

" I appreciate your advice to this girl, but the decision lies with her," Voldemort said moving closer to Cortney. Cortney thought about it.

" I'll just be like my aunt. I am always rolling my sleeves up in school. It is probably best the whole school doesn't see the mark. I can be a secret follower," Cortney decided.

" Cortney, it can be a mother-daughter thing," her mum urged.

" Mum I love you and all, but I already look pretty similar to you," Cortney said.

" It's alright Bellatrix," Voldemort said. " She has made her decision. None of you will be punished". With that, the Dark Lord vanished along with the snake. Cortney collapsed into her chair.

" That was a bit tense," Cortney breathed.

" You did great," Aunt Nacrissa said.

" I got into many fights with Theodore Notts, but this was a new level of tense," Cortney stated.

" How did your relationship with the Nott boy go? " Her mum asked.

" Terrible, he cheated," Cortney blurted out. Her mum patted her hair. This was most of Cortney's summer. Getting to know her mother and Death Eaters coming to the house. Her cousin Draco became a Death Eater and was given a dark task.
