Chapter 36

It was now Christmas break, mostly everyone has left besides her Animagus friends, some people from each house. Including the Weasleys and Harry. She has been spending a lot of time in the library. Right now she was sitting in the Quidditch stands, she was deep in thought.

" Cortney! " De'lexi said excitedly running up to her.

" Want to mess around in the Forest? " Milan asked sitting next to her.

" It would be so much fun! We have a low chance of getting caught," Joey said.

"Let's do it," Cortney said looking at them. They snuck into the Hufflepuff locker room, nobody was there. They changed into their animal forms and raced towards the Forest. They played around, the Coyote kept pushing the fox over playfully, which would lead to a playful wrestling match. All of a sudden the four heard a deep growl. They looked around and saw a large black dog in the distance. The four backed away in fear of the dog. Cortney looked into the eyes of the dog, they looked familiar. The dog started to advance towards them, they stepped out of the forest, turned into their regular forms, and raced all the way back to the castle.

" That was so scary! " De'lexi huffed.

" It was not that scary," Milan puffed.

" Easy for you to say! " Joey argued. " You're not a small meal, like De'lexi and I".

" He has a point," Cortney stated.

" Is that the big black dog, Professor Trelawny talked about," Joey questioned.

" Maybe," De'lexi replied. " I will do some research on it".

" Cort, could you possibly ask Hermione," Milan suggested.

" She hates Divination," Cortney pointed out. When in reality she and Hermione were not on speaking terms. " You could always ask her too she is in your house".

" She has a point," Joey spoke. A day or two later, Cortney was up late. She sat in her dorm with a candlelit and The Daily Prophet on it. She also had a page about Animagus on her desk. She stared at Sirius Black for a long time and then thought back to the dog's eyes. She spent hours reading about Animagus.

" Found it! I think " Cortney said out loud to herself. Soon she began to read what she found out loud to herself. " Each Animagus has an identity in one's animals that is caused by something on their human body. On the day, students would be returning back from break. That morning Cortney entered the Great Hall and saw Ron and Harry sitting with each other. Cortney walked over and sat next to Harry.

" What are you doing here !? " Ron shot.

" I am here to purposely annoy you," Cortney sassed, a minute later mail was here. Ellie dropped off her mail before flying off with food, On the Daily Prophet once again was Sirius Black. Cortney took the opportunity to look closely at him.

" Why are you staring at a murder? " Harry asked.

" He's not a murder, I do not believe he is," Cortney argued. An adult figure soon hoovered over them.

" What's is all the commotion about? " Professor Lupin asked.

" Cortney doesn't think Sirius is a murder," Ron blurted. Lupin looked at her oddly.

"Just because you two are cousins, well second cousins anyways, does not mean you try to take their side," Lupin advised. " Family is not always right".

" I am not doing it just because he is my cousin," Cortney revealed. " I just feel like there is more to it. I feel like it was a shallow trial, nobody went into depth. I mean like look at his eyes". She held up Sirius Black's picture on The Daily Prophet.

" What do his eyes have to do with anything? " Harry asked.

" Eyes can say more than the whole picture itself," Cortney said. " They can hold so much emotion in them".

" Ms. Lestrange, everything you say sounds highly intelligent, remember to stay on the light side though. You are too young for this type of stuff," Lupin said before walking away.

" I think you should listen to Professor Lupin," Harry said with rude eyes.

" Watch me not," Cortney said furiously before getting up and walking away.
