Chapter 11

Cortney was currently walking with Hagrid, Harry, Hermione, and Ron. They were heading to Hagrid's hut to celebrate. They were currently talking about the game. Ron was smiling till he saw Cortney.

" Hagrid, what is she doing here? " Ron asked gesturing to Cortney.

" Coming to have tea with us," Hagrid answered.

" But she's a Slytherin," Ron pointed out scrunching his nose. Cortney got in front of him. She bent down and untied his sure. Cortney then began to head back to the castle. Hagrid began laughing.

" Give her a chance Ron," Cortney is really nice," Hermione said.

" I agree with Hermione, she may be a Slytherin, but she's nice," Harry said. Ron rolled his eyes and soon he and Hermione began to talk about Snape.

*************

Cortney was heading back to the dormitory. She passed a class, she heard something beautiful, it was a bunch of people singing. She peeked in and saw a bunch of people singing. She saw Professor Flitwick conducting them. She closed the door and slowly sat next to it with her back to the door. She sat and listened to the sweet sound of music. At that moment she realized something. She realized that she's been so focused on changing people's opinions on her that she hasn't been the same. She hasn't played with drum sticks or sang at all. Cortney decided to go on her own adventure since it was Saturday. Cortney ran to her dorm and grabbed her bag containing her drumsticks and other things. She began wandering the hallways for an empty room. She passed a wall when all of a sudden a door appeared. Cortney opened and closed it as quietly as possible. ( The door disappeared on the other. What she saw took her breath away. The walls like the inside of the school and the ceiling were high up. Light flooded the room from the windows. In a corner was a piano, next to it was a guitar. There was already a chair for her to sit and play. Next to the guitar was a violin. In another corner was a set drum. One wall was a big wide mirror, with a bar in front of it. Cortney was so happy, that she put her stuff down and ran around the room. After a bit of smashing on the drums like a maniac, she decided to dance. Cortney plopped in a big disk thing and put the dial on it. It spun and began to play beautiful music. Her feet carried her, till she decided to do an aerial. When she landed, her angle snapped and she fell on her arm breaking it. Cortney cleaned up her stuff and quickly but quietly left the place. She began to head to the Hospital Wing when she got stopped by Seamus, Neville, and Dean.

" What happened to your arm? " Dean greeted.

" Hello to you too," Cortney greeted.

" Probably was doing something dangerous," Neville said suspiciously. Cortney thought about it.

" Yes, cause tripping down the stairs is dangerous," Cortney sassed/lied.

" So did you enjoy the Quidditch game? " Seamus asked they continued to the Hospital wing.

" Yes, I found it very interesting," Cortney said smiling. " Did you like it? " The three smiled big, Cortney took that as a yes.

" Wait, why did you find it interesting? You have seen a Quidditch game before right or at least heard it on the radio? " Seamus asked.

" Yeah, I'm pretty sure, the Malfoys would have taken you," Dean added. Cortney bit her lip and looked down.

" I wasn't interested then, I thought it was stupid," Cortney lied.

" Quidditch is anything but stupid," Seamus argued.

" In my defense, I was more interested in Muggle sports. I never told them, if I did I would've been kicked out the house and put into an orphanage," Cortney said. That last part hurt.

" What kind of Muggle sports? " Dean asked excitedly.

" Soccer, Volleyball, I didn't play them. But people I'm close with do," Cortney informed.

" I have another question for you? " Dean asked.

" Okay," Cortney said.

" He is wondering if you are staying for Christmas or going back with the Malfoys," Neville said bluntly.

" Oh, umm I'm not so sure," Cortney said looking down.

" All of us are going away," Dean said.

" Let me ask Dumbledore," Cortney. At that moment McGonagall came into view.

" Lemon Sherbet," McGonagall said as she passed. The four stopped in front of a giant eagle statue and it opened revealing stairs. Cortney went up as they protested. She knocked on the door. It opened magically.

" Hello, Ms. Lestrange," Dumbledore greeted.

" Hello, Headmaster Dumbledore, I was wondering, a-am I going home for Christmas or staying here? " Cortney asked.

" I think it's best you stay here. It's a long journey for your parents and I don't you going to the Malfoys either, I want to keep you away from the bad atmosphere, "Dumbledore said winking. He knew she meant going home to her brother and sisters.

" Thanks," Cortney said smiling before leaving. Cortney now continued walking with the boys.

" I will be staying here for the holidays," Cortney informed them.

" You can come to my house if you want, I'm sure my mum wouldn't mind an extra person," Dean said.

"It's fine, it's good to have changed," Cortney said smiling at him.

" Dean has a crush," Seamus teased.

" I was trying to be nice! " Dean protested. Cortney began giggling.

******

Cortney now sat in the Hospital Wing as Madame Lestrange fixed up her arm. Soon she walked away and the boys began talking more. But Cortney wasn't paying attention, she was thinking about Christmas. This year Cortney wouldn't be woken up by an excited Tristen. Or not make chocolate chip pancakes with her mom and sisters. She wouldn't sit next to her dad as he read How the Grinch stole Christmas. Or how she wouldn't be able to watch Christmas specials with them. No sledding or being with her friends. This will be a really big change for her.
