~Chapter 5~
We reached the large metal building which served as the main headquarters. It's where everyone in the Camdis Force and anyone important stay. The architecture was amazing! It must have taken a pure genius to build this place.
Anne explained there are only eight main members of the Force so they each get their own penthouse in the building. It takes up a whole floor, sometimes two depending on the style, which is why there are only twelve. If Kam and I chose to stay in Camdis and join them, we'd get our own. Anne explains that the Camdis Force is basically the police of Camdis and constantly go up to surface to spy, for their main goal is to take down the Starni and bring peace and equality. For their hard work, they get to live in the Headquarters as well as train here. But they are free to go anywhere in Camdis.
"And the lesser members?" Kam asks with curiosity.
"They have their own homes in Camdis. They don't go up to the surface and spy so their lives aren't in too much danger. All their spots are taken up so if you choose to join, you'll have to join the Majors. That's us. I know it's a lot to think about. You do put your life in great danger. But please consider it. You can come to tomorrow's meeting if you want." Anne tells us. I run my hand over the smooth leather seat's arm rest, thinking about my options.
"I'll be there." I say to Anne. Kam nods in agreement.
"Great! Okay I will see you both tomorrow then!" Anne walks off to her room and I take a better look around. I had expected very few windows from what I had seen from the outside but in her room Anne had at least three large windows on each wall. Her furniture was mostly all dark colors, with few bright decorations on the walls. I stand and walk to her kitchen. Once again, the room had a dark theme. Cabinets were dark oak and the countertops and bar table were black marble. Above her bar table were several multicolored lights. I run my hand along the smooth marble. On the far edge of the counter, I notice a small black box.
"What's this?" I say to no one in particular as I pick up the box. I take off the top and pick up a ring. Turning it over and over in my hand, I see a shiny red gem and the word Ironis engraved on the inside. This must have been her Sector Ring. I place Anne's ring back in the box and close it back up before placing it back on the table.
"You doing okay?" Kam asks, having walked in behind me.
"I'm fine. Just worried." I say, turning to look at him.
"There's nothing to worry about. At least not here. I find this place amazing! A sector full of people like us!"
"But we have families, Kam. Families up on the surface that have no clue where we are." I try to walk past him but he steps in my way and puts both hands on my shoulders. I look him in the eyes.
"Emmy, I know things aren't perfect right now. But trust me, everything will get better. Just don't worry about it so much." Kam smiles sincerely. I sigh. Why bother arguing?
"Okay, Kam. You're right. Thanks." Kam nods and let's go of my shoulders and I walk back to the living room.

The small girl opened her eyes and looked up at the picture of her father that hung on the wall. People dressed in black swarmed around her, looking for open seats. She looked down at her own black dress.
"Emeline. Come up here please." Her mother said to her. The girl walked up and stood next to her mother. One by one, people stepped up and would say something to her mother before handing her a single red rose. The girl would take the rose and add it to the vase on the table behind her.
Finally it was time for the goodbye. The small child took her mother's hand and together they walked to the coffin. Her father lay there, dressed nicely and cleaned up for this day. Her mother placed a single red rose just above his heart. The girl took out a lily out of the hidden pocket in her dress and held it carefully in her hand. Her mother turned away to address the crowd. But instead of doing the same like she was supposed to do, the child took the lily and placed it in her father's hand.
"Daniel Dalands. Loving husband and father. Has left this world on to a better life. He leaves his most prized possession to his daughter, Emeline." A male voice said from no exact location the girl could pinpoint. She turns and is handed a small envelope. Opening it slowly, the girl finds a shiny golden pocket watch.
A bright light fills the room, making the pocket watch glow, as the church bells let out a haunting yet beautiful ring.
Why'd you leave me here?
~*~
I slowly opened my eyes. Sunlight fills the room with a bright glow. I sit up on the couch and see Kam still asleep on the chair. Anne walks in the living room and smiles.
"Morning Em!" She says, taking a bite of one of the two apples she holds in her hands after tossing me one.
I catch the apple and say, "Morning Anne. When's the meeting?"
"Soon. In fact, you should go ahead and wake him up." She motions to Kam. I nod and stand as Anne walks back to the kitchen. I walk to the chair and look at Kam before poking his cheek. Heck, I don't know what else to do. Maybe shake him awake? Or at least call his name! But poke him?
"Kam! Get up." I say loudly. I hear a small groan and Kam opens one eye slowly, struggling to see against the bright sunlight that fills the room.
"Shhhh. I'm dead. So let me rest in peace." He closes his eye again. Anne walks out with a cup full of liquid. Before I can even open my mouth to ask what was in the cup, she tilts it right over Kam's head. Water splatters all over, mostly on Kameron's shocked and very much awake self. He stands up quickly and shoots a glare at Anne.
"What was that for?" he shouts.
Anne shrugs and says, "You wouldn't get up. And we have a meeting to get to."

After Kam finishes complaining, we all got ready. Now I'm standing in the elevator next to Kam and Anne. The silence is killing me so I begin to hum to myself. The elevator stops and once the doors are open, a tall boy with midnight black hair and grey eyes stepped inside. He was muscular and stared blankly ahead as the doors closed once again and the elevator resumed it's course to the fourth floor.
"Would you cut it out with the humming?" he suddenly asks. I stop and turn to him.
"Sorry it was just so silent and I-"
"I don't care. It just find it annoying." He interrupted sharply. Okay, now I'm upset. A plan forms in my head and I face forwards once again, trying not to crack a smile. After a few long moments of silence, I start humming as loud as possible.
"Kid! Shut up!" Mr. Meany shouts. I hum louder.
"Shut up you idiot!" he yells at me. I stop as I hear the elevator beep signaling we reached the fourth floor. "This ride is over."
I skip out the open doors and turn around to face the three.
"Thank you thank you! I love you all!" I say before walking down the hallway.
"Emmy! Wrong way!" I turn to see Anne and Kam waiting in front of the elevator. I walk to them and together we start walking down the hall. The right way this time.
"What got into you back there?" Kam asks me.
I shrug and reply, "He was rude." Kam laughs and shakes his head. Hey, I can be fun every now and then.
Anne leads us down the hall to a room with double doors. The room was filled with people who all looked so different from one another, minus two boys in a corner who were perfectly identical. Everyone stops and turns their heads in our direction.
"Anne who are these two?" a girl with snow white hair down to her waist asks.
"Are those the two new people to Camdis? Why are they here?" a muscular red headed boy with green eyes asks, walking up and examining Kam and I.
"They want to see if they're up to be a part of the Camdis Force." Anne says.
"Well in that case, they should get to know everyone, huh?" A boy at the head of the room says. He's tall and thin, which I didn't expect seeing as almost all the other guys are muscular. Anne nods and walks to the girl with white hair.
"This is Cassadi Snow. She's great at coming up with plans." Next, she points to the red head who examined Kam and I. "That's Henry Gron. He's overly curious but can make anyone smile."
"Those two over there are Flint and George Kahn. Identical twins yet opposite. Flint is loud and outgoing. George, not so much." As both of them turn to me and smile, I see Flint has green eyes and George has blue. Guess they're not completely identical.
Anne walks to a slightly muscular boy with black hair and says, "This is Ell. We don't know too much about him because he never told us. But he's our best spy." Ell turns and stares at me. Just stares. I can see one eye is blue and the other green.
A girl shorter than most of the people in the room with light brown hair and green tips stands from her chair. She loudly announces, "I am Kelly Green. I am the female trainer and it's very nice to meet you. I may be different but I embrace the traits of my sector, Aneses. Just because I am unlike my family, doesn't mean I should forget them and their ways."
"Yeah. What she said. About being Kelly." Anne sighs.
"So you are training Emmy? Who's training me?" Kam asks.
"I will be. I am the male trainer." Henry says.
"That is IF you two join. And I wasn't done introducing people!" Anne grumbles. She walks to the guy at the head of the room.
"Max Senar. Leader of the Camdis Force. Don't underestimate his strength if you want to live."
"I don't go around killing people, Anne." Max smirks.
"Well whatever."
"We need to get started so everyone take a seat." Max says.
"But wait," Fint speaks up grabbing everyone's attention. "I wanna know who the new two are."
"I'm Emeline. Just call me Emmy." I say when everyone stares at me.
"I'm Kam, Emmy's friend." Kam says. I guess we don't really know what to say and how to say it. But it seems to be fine with the others.
~*~
The meeting seems to just drag on and on, considering for the sake of Kam and I they gave all the rules and expectations and such. They went over their most recent mission and how it played out. Ell was sent to spy on some member of the Capitol and he got some good information. Cassadi failed to get close with a girl in a Starni family but did get some information out of her.
"Great. Okay, now on to our next mission. There was a girl recently found to be different but she was careless and got caught. The Capitol have captured her and are torturing her as we speak. Not only was she found different, but after recent events people claimed she was going crazy and committed multiple crimes over night. Which is shocking to see from a Deltan. Anyway, we need to rescue her and bring her here." Max explains.
"What's her name?" Cassadi asks him.
"Umm...." he looks down at a piece of paper before answering, "Izzy Welin."
My eyes widen. Izzy was different? Even more did crimes and went crazy? What makes it worse is that she got captured. My mind began racing, wondering what could possibly be happening to her right now.
Without really thinking, I stand and all eyes are on me.
"I want to join the Camdis Force and I want to take part in the rescue of Izzy Welin."

I've been training with Kelly for hours now. I didn't really expect the building's basement to be a full training center. The other members of the Force watched as Kam and I trained hour after hour.
I wasn't good with anything except sword fighting when we first started. But Kelly has been a great trainer and lesson by lesson, practice by practice, I got better with other things.
I hear someone walk up behind me as I'm punching a dummy repeatedly.
"Why'd you join so quickly?" I hear Max ask me.
"I know the girl we're saving."
"So that causes you to make such a quick decision?"
"Yes. I need to help save her. I need her safe." I reply, getting more than a little frustrated.
"I doubt you can train quick enough to be able to go though." I hear his footsteps start to walk farther. I stop punching and turn to him.
"Fine! I'll show you what I can do! Grab a sword." I walk to the table where swords are lined up. Looking over them all, I see none will do except my father's. I reach under the table where I kept it. Max walks over and grabs his choice. I don't bother looking at what it is before I walk to the square arena and step up.
"What do you think you're doing Emeline?" Ell shouts from the sidelines.
"Do you have a death wish?" George says loud enough for me to at least hear him clearly.
"Woohoo! Go Emmy!" Anne cheers. Kam even stopped his knife throwing to watch. Max stepped up and we both got into our positions. Kelly signals us to begin and almost automatically, the clang of our swords echoes through the room. I try to get a good hit to his arm but he blocks it. Cling after cling, I try to get a good opening but he continues to block.
I feel my arm begin to sting as I realize he managed to cut it. Now I'm officially angry and trying with all my might to get him. I get thrown back against the side of the arena.
"Are we done here?" Max asks me, his sword down at his side.
"Emeline! Remember, anger is your enemy in a fight!" Kelly shouts. I take a minute to breathe and calm down before standing. Max readies his sword and I run to him. Once again greeted by the clang of our swords as the meet. I'm quick to make another strike, only at the same time I balance on one leg as I kick the back of his leg. He loses balance and falls back. My sword stops above his neck.
"Maybe if you let me go on that mission, I'll let you live." I say. He smirks and moves the blade away.
"Very well. You will continue to train with Kelly. In two days, you and Kam will join us on the mission." He says, standing. I smile to myself.
"As for now, that's enough training for today. Everyone go to your floor and get ready. Group dinner tonight in honor of Emeline and Kam." Anne announces. Everyone begins to leave and I walk to grab my things. As I pick up my bag and make my way to the exit I think about Izzy. We are going to get her back.
I will save you Izzy.
I promise.
