One of the first scenes in the film is Percy Jackson under water, he says that he's been under there for 16 minutes. 

I don't know about you but i know if my friend just sat there for 16 mins underwater I would freak out and call someone or even call a world record place. 

This scene also has little relevance to the rest of the film as all it shows is that he has an affiliation with water, which we discover anyway in the book during the first chapter! 

 i feel that the directors could have done something more with the scene and could have made it a bit more relevant to the plot of the movie.
