Betty Angel was far from the ethereal being that descended from heaven, dressed in white and wearing a golden halo as a crown.
She would more accurately describe herself as a creature that had dragged itself from the fiery pits of hell. Fingernails cracked and bloodied, skin clawed with scratches, knees cut and bruised from crawling across broken glass, nailed spikes and hot coals; all in an attempt to reach the light. Instead, dressed in black, matching the colour of her heart and the darkest desires of her soul. And, of course, with some mischievous red horns resting on her head, for Betty was someone who danced with the devil for fun.
She also had an incredibly overactive imagination.
The cracked fingernails? A broken acrylic from cheerleading practice. The scratches? Courtesy of her cat Ringo. Knees cut from glass? She had drunkenly fallen into the drinks table at a party last week. And the devil horns? Well, those were from her last Halloween costume.
But the point was: Betty Angel could never live up to her name.
To put it simply, Angel was simply not in her nature. And that, she had learned, was okay. Betty had spent most of her life trying to represent her family name, to reach the high expectations that weighed on her shoulders, and to live up to her siblings, who were far more accomplished at the ages of thirteen and fourteen than Betty ever would be.
To tell the truth, she did have a black heart (well, according to her string of past lovers anyway). The black soul thing she thought was taking it a little too far, but the label had come from a bitter ex, who'd reacted particularly badly to their breakup in freshman year and never let it go since.
Alas, he was in a long line of many who had been fooled by those endearing brown doe eyes, the perfectly straight-toothed smile and the effortless charm. Living up to the girl next-door act had served her well...
For a while.
Because Betty was not a nice girl. Betty Angel was a bitch.
And nobody knew that more than Eddie Munson.

Parting is such sweet sorrow.
A/N
Cannot even put into words how excited I am for this!! Eddie has my whole heart and I have zero self control so here we are.
This will be connected to my Steve Harrington story Head Over Heels. You don't have to read it first, but I'd love if you did! I'll be updating them both at a similar time as I write series 4.
Thanks for reading <3
