King's Landing:
Rhaenyra sat in her chambers, humming a melody, her mother used to hum to her, whenever she had difficulties to fall asleep! Her father Viserys and his council had a meeting, in which Rhaenyra was supposed to be present and refill each of their cups! But the young princess wasn't in the mood for attending any meeting, so soon after the death of her mother! King Viserys seemed to understand, but at the same time he kind of didn't...only Rhaenyra's best friend, Alicent Hightower seemed to understand, as she lost her own mother a few months ago...

Alicent:(*knocked on Rhaenyra's door*)"Nyra, may I come in?...(*no response*)...Rhaenyra? Are you even in your chambers?"
Rhaenyra:"Come in, Alicent!...(*the door opened and Alicent appeared*)...it's good to see you, Alicent!"
Alicent:(*she sighed*)"It's good to see you too, Nyra!...(*Rhaenyra slightly smiled*)...what are you doing here all alone?"
Rhaenyra:"Coming to terms with my mother's death!...(*she lowered her head*)...but somehow it doesn't work out so well!"
Alicent:(*she tilted her head*)"I just met my father, they are waiting for you in the council room!...(*Rhaenyra shook her head*)...consider it a privilege to hear what the adults are discussing there!"
Rhaenyra:"Next, should I also see it as a privilege to be allowed to fill up their cups?!...(*Alicent flinched*)...I'm sorry, Alicent. I didn't mean to snap at you..."
Alicent:(*she sat down besides Rhaenyra*)"It's okay, Nyra! I know what you're going through and that there's an emotional merry-go-round inside you!...(*she took Rhaenyra's hands into her own*)...and that is why I want you to know that I will always be there for you and always listen to you!"

They hugged and after a while, Alicent went back to her own chambers! Rhaenyra felt alone and useless...she didn't have any motivation to do anything! She even neglected her dragon Syrax and that broke her heart! But as much as she wanted to climb on her dragon and fly over King's Landing, she couldn't motivate herself to do so! Around noon, she left her chambers and walked towards her father's chambers! She wanted to apologise for not attending his meeting! But right before she could knock on his door, she heard voices from the throne room...

Ser Harrold Westerling:"How many times did your brother tell you that he would not tolerate your visit unless he specifically asked you to come?...(*Daemon rolled his eyes*)...why are you even here?"
Daemon:(*he grinned*)"Because I want to see my niece?...(*Ser Harrold Westerling raised an eyebrow*)...so where is Rhaenyra?"
Ser Harrold Westerling:"Even if I knew, I wouldn't tell you!...(*Daemon tilted his head*)...so can you please return to Dragonstone now?"
Rhaenyra:(*she entered the room*)"Uncle, you're really here!...(*Daemon lifted his head*)...tell me, what brings you to King's Landing?"
Daemon:"Nyra, I am actually here because of you!...(*Rhaenyra tilted her head*)...how are you? Are the days easier to bear now?"

Rhaenyra lowered her head and tears rolled down her cheeks! Daemon noticed and hugged his niece tight! Ser Harrold Westerling sighed and closed the doors, so that no one could see them! Daemon wasn't allowed to walk around the streets of King's Landing, nor was he allowed to walk around in the palace! After a little while, Rhaenyra detached from her uncle and lifted her head to look up at him! He warmly smiled at her and caressed both her cheeks with his thumbs...Rhaenyra felt safe when she was around him!

Rhaenyra:"I don't even have the motivation to climb Syrax and fly over King's Landing!...(*she sighed*)...and in spite of the fact that father sees how tired and broken I am, he wants me to take part in his stupid meetings and fill the cups of all those present..."
Daemon:(*he sighed*)"Viserys has always been like this!...(*Rhaenyra lowered her head*)...but even if it doesn't seem like it, he understands how you feel and what your mother's death has triggered in you!"
Rhaenyra:"But then why isn't he just there for me?!...(*Daemon shrugged his shoulders*)...the only one who is there for me is Alicent! And she has at least the same dark demons to fight..."
Daemon:(*he kissed her forehead*)"I am also always there for you, Nyra!...(*Rhaenyra slightly smiled at him*)...and I have a present for you!"

Rhaenyra's eyes widened, when she saw, that Daemon took out a necklace! The necklace was made out of Valyrian steel and it was the most beautiful thing, Rhaenyra has ever seen! Daemon was glad, that his niece seemed to like her present and he immediately put the chain on her! 5 months passed since their conversation and King Viserys was now married to Alicent! Rhaenyra's world fell apart once again and she couldn't believe, that her once best friend, was so cruel to her! But it only got worse, when Alicent was pregnant for the first time...the chances stood high, that it was going to be a boy! King Viserys didn't care about what gender his child would have, as he already made a decision, who he wanted to appoint his heir...

King Viserys:"Rhaenyra, how good that you are here!...(*Rhaenyra tilted her head*)...I have made an important decision!"
Rhaenyra:(*she sighed*)"And what is your oh-so-important decision, father?...(*King Viserys smiled*)...you scare me a little..."
King Viserys:"I have decided to make you my heir, Rhaenyra!...(*her eyes widened*)...you shall inherit the Iron Throne when I leave this earth!"
Rhaenyra:(*she took a deep breath*)"But, father, now that Aegon has been born, wouldn't it make more sense to make him the heir and, while he is not yet of age, put an adult representative on the throne?...(*King Viserys shook his head*)...Alicent will curse you for this..."
King Viserys:"Then let her curse me, I know who I want as my heir and that is you and not Aegon!...(*Rhaenyra slightly smiled*)...I will invite all the greater Lords, they shall pledge their allegiance to you tomorrow!"

Rhaenyra nodded and was soon dismissed! The next day, all the greater Lords came to King's Landing and swore their allegiance to Rhaenyra! Alicent was disappointed, that the King appointed his daughter his heir and not his first born son! A big discussion caused mistrust and anger, and Rhaenyra wanted it all to stop! As another 5 months passed and Alicent again was pregnant, Rhaenyra forced herself to spent some time with her brother Aegon! And even if she didn't want to admit it, she loved Aegon! Rumour had it, that Daemon visited King's Landing again and this time, him and Rhaenyra, did something, for what King Viserys would never forgive them: Daemon and Rhaenyra slept with each other! And the result was, Rhaenyra being pregnant...she was scared and she didn't know what to do, so she told Alicent about it...

Rhaenyra:"Alicent, you can hate me now or think it's disgusting, but I just have to tell someone!...(*Alicent tilted her head*)...Daemon was here a few months ago and I haven't had my bleeding in a while...I'm pregnant, Alicent!"
Alicent:(*her eyes widened*)"Oh, Rhaenyra!...(*they hugged*)...I could never hate you or find you disgusting! We will get through this together, I promise you!"
Rhaenyra:"Thank you, Alicent! You are the best!...(*Alicent kissed Rhaenyra's forehead*)...but I'm so scared to tell my father..."
Alicent:(*she brushed Rhaenyra's hair back behind her ear*)"He will be angry for some time, but then he will love his grandchild, you will see!...(*tears rolled down Rhaenyra's cheeks*)...you will not have to go through this pregnancy alone!"
Rhaenyra:"I love you, sister!...(*they smiled at each other*)...maybe our children will become best friends like we are!"

Alicent gave it a thought and soon the two girls laughed! A few days passed, until Rhaenyra finally told King Viserys about her pregnancy! At first King Viserys was angry, just like Alicent said it to Rhaenyra, but after a while he calmed down again and pulled Rhaenyra into a tight hug! He was proud of her, even though Daemon would be the father! He loved them both deeply and he was excited to meet their little wonder...and so was everyone else in the palace! Everyone expect for one: Otto Hightower! He saw the unborn child as a threat and he tried to manipulate King Viserys to see it the same way, but how could he see his grandchild as a threat? Alicent stood by Rhaenyra's side and that didn't change, until the moment Rhaenyra was close to giving birth...
