Chapter 1- Stream and (Y\N)

Present Reader's Pov

"NO! LET HIM GO!" I scream at the people dragging away my only friend. I lunge at one, hoping he would be surprised and give Stream a chance to escape. My plan works, but only for a second. By the time Stream has taken three steps, I'm hit away. He yells, and jumps towards me. But they knock him out, and I snap.

"STOP!" I scream, and they do. So does everything else. Time has frozen in midair. I gasp. I'm unable to move, but I can think. So I do that. I think to the where I first had a hint that something was wrong.

Past Readers Pov
My 6 year old self sits on my grass bed I had made in the damp cave I live in. I wait for my only friend to come back. Finally, just as the sun sets, and as I finishes my gift for him, a little boy maybe a year older walks in.

"Stream-kun! You're back!" I call out happily.

"Did you miss me?" He asks the same question that he says everytime he comes back.

"Of course! Here, I made you something!"

I hand him an arrowhead on a silver chain.

"Oh wow (Y/N)! It's great! I'll keep it forever!" His smile warms my little face.

"Will we be friends forever Stream-kun?" My question makes him look away in embarrassment.

"I want to always be your friend (Y/N), forever and ever," my face heats up, and then I yawn.

"Stream-kun, I'm going to take a nap, okay? Wake me up if anything happens," laying down and closing my eyes, it isn't long until I'm fast asleep. But later that night I wake again. I sit on my bed and wonder why Stream looked away when I asked him that question. It was as if something was wrong. I look into the full moon, something that has always given me hope.

~Time skip~

A few months later, while I'm waiting for him to come back again, the sky becomes a beautiful blue, and a horde of butterflies fly by. I giggle and chase after them outside. But then they fly towards the nearby town, and I stop. I know I can't go there. One look in my eyes and they'll shun me, and I'll be picked on. I'll be beat, hit, just because people don't like what they don't understand.

That's how Stream found me, beaten and sobbing, on the ground, in the rain. The rain threatens again now, and I sit on the entrance of our cave. I haven't talked to anyone since we met. And he's not afraid of my eyes, because he's colorblind. One of my eyes is completely white, no pupils. The other looks like a normal (e/c) eye, but as if blood has been splattered against it. Red lines go down my eye, making it seem like blood was trickling down. It scares people. But nature and Stream don't care.

(A/N) imagine your eyes like the media, but with the corresponding eye color of yours for the blue.

~Time Skip~ Three years later

I watch as again Stream leaves. He's been increasingly nervous, but he hides it by being nice, too nice, to me. I absolutely hate it when he hides things from me. I want to know what's going on, I want to help him.

That night when he comes home I confront him about it.

"Stream. What's going on?" I ask boldly. He looks up, but averts his eyes.

"Nothing (Y/N), why?"

"You've been acting weird, why? Why won't you let me help you?" He again looks away. I slam my hand on a rock, "STREAM! I'M DONE WITH THIS! What is bothering you?"

Surprised at my tone he finally meets my eyes.

"(Y/N) if I could tell you I would. But I can't! This is an important matter that doesn't concern you!" My eyes widen.

"Who does it concern then? I'm all you have! If it doesn't concern me, then who els~

"LEAVE ME ALONE!" He shouts at me. My breath catches in my throat. I run outside, shoving away unwanted tears. The rain pours down harder than it has since the night Stream found me. Damn my magic power, uncontrolled. It brings rain if I'm feeling intense grief or even just a little bit of sadness. I keep running through it.

I sit under my favorite tree, the one that gives me comfort. In the distance I see two figures walking side by side. They can't see me, but I see them. One seems to have a cloak, but the other seems the opposite of prepared for cold weather. Before I could see any more of them, I hear a voice. It's Stream calling for me. But I don't want to deal with him, so I make myself sadder, making the rain impossible to walk in, so he has to turn back. I fall asleep hours later, after I've cried all my tears.

In the morning I find that I got a cold the night before. Stream had carried me inside from a mile away. I almost cried again when I realized, because I forgot how much he cares for me. This was three days before the men attacking. Stream told me about how he has been working for a group of shady people, the only way to support us. They found out about me, and decided that I.....no, my eyes would be worth money. He had to bear them threatening to kill me, to rip out my eyes. They're lazy, but still. He's been on guard, expecting them to come for me anyways.

~Time Skip~ 3 days.

"(Y/N)! Get inside! You have to hide!" I hear his shouts before I see him. Stream runs to me and pulls on my arm until I'm in the back of the cave. There's a deep hole, which is perfect for hiding in. I'm still weak from my cold. Shivering on the cold stone next to him, I hear footsteps.

"Come out little kiddos, we won't hurt you," a man's voice growls at us. Its hard to believe him with the menacing tone he holds in his voice.

They haven't seen me. I'm pushed down as far as I can. But Stream is on top...and the man can see him.

"You, boy, get up." He grumbles at my friend. Slowly Stream stands up and walks over to the cruel faced men.

"Where is she? Tell me kid! We made a deal!"

"I MADE NO SUCH DEAL WITH YOU SCREH! She's long gone, I already made her leave!" The black haired boy defends me bluntly. But instead of leaving, the man slaps him across the room. He hits the ground with a sickening thud, and my friend curls up in pain.

"Well then, she certainly won't notice if I do this, huh?" Then he kicks Stream in the stomach. He coughs out blood. I gasp, horrified.

"If you boys don't find her, at least we'll have a nice slave for Chiaki, won't we?" The other men laugh, and start to search the cave. My breath speeds up when one passes by me, but he doesn't seem to notice me.
They report back to the man, I can't hear them though.

"Ha! Not in the cave huh? Yah right! Watch this," my breath catches in my throat when I realize he is walking back to Stream. He picks him up by the hair with his left hand. Then he lifts Steam up in the air over his head. And lets go. Stream falls again, his leg cracking beneath him. This time he doesn't try to get up.

"You know guys, we don't need a weakling like her. Grab the boy and let's scram," The cruel man has one if his cronies pick up Stream by the hair again, and carry him towards the entrance.

"NO! NO! LET HIM GO!" I impulsively scream at the people dragging away my only friend. I lunge at one, hoping he would be surprised and give Stream a chance to escape. My plan works, but only for a second. I'm still too weak to cause any damage. I still haven't figured out my magic. By the time Stream has taken three hobbled steps, I'm hit away. He yells, in pain and in fury, and jumps towards me, to save me. But they knock him out, and I snap.

"STOP!" I scream, and they do. So does everything else. Time has frozen in midair. Stream lays in a mangled heap on the ground, bleeding from the leg and a wound on his head. The three henchman were heading to him. The other man had reached out to me. His calloused hand a foot from my face. I'm worried he could of crushed me if time hadn't stopped. Why did time stop?

Then, surprisingly, a shimmering figure appears in front of me. She has blonde hair, with white wings in her hair. She's wearing a white dress with pink and blue. Also, she's barefoot.

"You've really messed up time here (Y/N), but I'll be able to fix it," she says to me.

"Who...are you? My guardian angel?" Being young, my thought of course is a fantasy. Her laugh is like the ringing of bells.

"I guess you could say that, but I'm other things as well. My name is Mavis Vermillion. And you just used a forbidden spell," my eyes widen.

"Yes, you cast it out of pain, love, and fear. It shows me you're very powerful. But this part is going to be hard. I have to fix this, and to do that means taking you out of the timeline, and reinserting you about a week from now, when you are out of dangers way. It means leaving behind Stream," I cover my mouth with my hands.

"Do I have to?" I ask.

"Yes. I'm Sorry (Y/N), I know this'll be hard for you. But you have to live! So don't make this a big deal," she answers. I understand, but it is so unrealistic.

"Alright, there is time for mourning later." I decide. I want to get this over with.

The last thing I see is Stream's pained face.

A week later, same cave

Reader's Pov

I woke up right where I had been when time stopped. Still in shock I take in the empty cave. There's no sign of a fight, except for the small amount of dried blood staining the ground. I want to stay strong, I don't want to cry. I collapse and sob pathetically. Hours later I stop due to a voice I keep on hearing.

"Get up. (Y/N) you are strong and you can live. So get up, wipe your face, and listen to me," a now familiar voice says quietly. It sounds like she's taking through a piece of cloth.

"Mavis?" I ask my new friend.

"Yes, it's me. You've cried enough. Right now you need to take control of your life. Even though you're only 9~"

"Ten," I interrupt.

"Ten, it doesn't mean people are going to devote their lives to you. You have so much potential,"

"But what abou~"

"Learn how to use huntress magic first. Get food and sustenance. Live, and also you need to learn defense and if necessary, offense," I was so confused, how will I learn without a teacher?

"How will i~"

"I'll teach you, but you won't be able to see me,"

"Why not?"

"It's complicated,"

From that day until I turn 15 she teaches me everything about surviving alone. One day she tells me she has very important things to do in other places, but I could manage alone.
I remember that conversation.

*Flashback commence*

"Mavis, you're my best friend, you can't leave!"

"I'm sorry (Y/N), but I'm technically not real. You'll understand why later on in life. What you really need to do is make your own friends,"

"But you're my friend!" I screamed at her, hoping the threatening tears won't fall.

"Please (Y/N) don't make this harder than it already is!" I realize she's as sad as me. I take three deep breaths. In, out. In, out. In, out. And I'm composed, at least enough.

"I'm sorry for that Mavis. I will find friends! For you!"

"I'm sure we'll meet again (Y/N)," I feel a brush against my check, and she's gone.

*Flashback end*

Now, still same cave.

I don't leave the cave for another three years though, despite my promise to Mavis. I'm terrified, the only person I've ever really met is Stream. I...can't think of him though, he'll make this hard.

Finally comes the day I decide to set out, today. I'm tired of these fears. I'm eighteen years old, it's time to man up. Or woman up, whatever.

I pack my few possessions. The small amount of clothes I have, three books, a good supply of food. It'll last me at least a week.

Then I tie my (h/l), (h/c) hair in a sloppy ponytail, using an elastic type thread I made out of natural resources to keep it up.

Then I reach for my black cloak that had a hood deep enough to keep my eyes hidden. It twirls around when I pull it from the stone holding it on the wall.

Finally, the necklace. The only material thing left of him. The one I made all those years ago. A simple black arrowhead, an arrow pendant tied to the side. Held on a chain. It's the last thing I put on, and I keep it with me all the time when I leave the cave. It clasps on smoothly, still in great condition.

I hold it in the palm of my left hand and trace the grooves and indents with my right.

"This is it Stream. Can you see me? Of course you can't, but here I go, to explore this world," then quickly I walk away, leaving the closest thing I have to a home behind. I don't know where to go, so I head for the town near the cave. The one I've always been so afraid of since...

The streets are filled with people. They're jostling each other and shoving and surging all around me. I'm so overwhelmed!

"I can't do this Mavis," I whisper.

"Hey watch where you're going!" Someone crashes into me. It's a tall man with a cold face and stiff features. My hood falls off, revealing my eyes.

I instantly try to reach the hood with my hands, but I'm fumbling. I'm so nervous.

"What's wrong with you? Sheesh, weirdo," he grabs my chin and forces me to look him in the eyes, I fight his touch.

"What the!?" He shoves me away, fear in his eyes. I hit the ground hard. Other people notice my eyes, and start to gasp and whisper.

"What is that?"

"Is she a kind of monster?"

"Is she dangerous?"

"She's probably here to hurt us, let's drive her out!"

The words 'kick her out' or 'get the pitchforks' start circling faster and faster. I gasp, realizing they aren't kidding. I stand up with my stuff, and run.

Why can't I be normal? Why am I rejected?

Tears threaten for the second time today. I fight them back, but since I'm just blindly running, I don't see the tree. I crash face first into it and fall backwards. All the pent up tears start to trickle down my cheeks.

"Dang it, why now?" I mutter.

I realize there's a nice place to camp out for the night, I'll probably sleep and continue my quest for....whatever I'm looking for, tomorrow.
I set up my camp, cook my food, eat a lot, and go to sleep.

Hi friends! It's me, and if you're reading this...thank for being supportive! I'm hoping the way I wrote this has more time put into it than the last attempt. Enjoy!

Baka-chan Out! PEASH✌
