Shintaro (Brethren) was originally "altered" by Tartarus, and his claws were sharp enough to cut through metal. 

For a long time, this was a part of his general plot as a person. He had a past with Tartarus, and he was altered in several ways, including the claws. This continued throughout several attempts my series, but it slowly faded back and I haven't used it since. Honestly, the idea of him hating Tartarus the way Linda does just... satisfies me XD.
