Chapter 1
“I´m not mad because you are working, I´m mad because you´re late…again.” Magnus voice was loud but he didn’t want to shout because he didn’t want their children to hear them but it seemed like he was the only one who cared about that. “AND WHY AM I WORKING? I´M WORKING LATE TO GIVE YOU AND THE CHILDREN A GOOD LIFE.” Alec shouted back not willing to repeat the same argument over and over again. He and Magnus were married now for 10 years and had two wonderful children with the age of 6 and 10 but the last two years their marriage was going through a really rough time. “Your only giving them a life without a dad…you know what…you´re just like him…you´re just like your own father. Go and leave to work…maybe one day you will leave me and children just like he did.” Magnus spat out in pure anger but he was tired of being in a marriage with a man that was actually married to his work. He knew saying Alec was just like his dad was a low blow but it seemed to do its job because guilt run over Alecs face. Roberts, Alecs dad, left his mom when he was 15 but nothing really changed since Robert was barely at home anyway. The reason he left his mother? He started an affair with his secretary. Even his dad wasn’t at home a lot before he left it still hurt when he left them to start new with his affair and on this one day Alec promised he would never be like that. He promised to be the best dad and husband someone could imagine but seeing the pain in Magnus eyes told him he was failing badly. “I wouldn’t never…I could never leave you.” Alec answered after he let the words sink in for a few moments and Magnus took a deep breath not believing Alec anymore. There were so many nights he waited for Alec to come home but he sometimes didn’t show up until 2 or 3am and went right away to sleep. They didn’t talk anymore and even they shared one apartment they saw each other rarely. Magnus wanted nothing more than the old times back when Alec would make time for him randomly showing up with flowers at his work but the last time he got flowers were on their 7th anniversary. “I love you and I just want you to have a good life. You love me too and we can figure it all out.” For Alec this was always so easy said but in the end nothing ever changed and again Magnus was left alone with all his worries. “I fell in love with a man who surprised me and showed me affection. I loved a man who came home early to spend time with our children but if I love this man in front of me is something I wouldn’t know an answer but right now I would say no.” Magnus was tired of the same argument they had almost every day and he saw no use in continuing all this. They spend many beautiful years together but in the last few months Magnus wasn’t sure if there was still love between them or if they were together because breaking up would be complicated and he was afraid to hurt his children. He also was heartbroken because he still loved Alec but Alec seemed to get more distant over the last years he didn’t know if this was still worth it. Maybe it was time to give up and admit that they failed before they got into an ugly divorce but even thinking about not having Alec by his side anymore broke Magnus from the inside. Magnus walked in the room of their two amazing sons who were luckily still sleeping and didn’t get bothered by their parents fight or at least Magnus thought so but then he heard the voice of his older son echoing in the room. “Papa?” Rafe asked startling Magnus a little who got pale when he only thought about Rafe hearing their loud argument but he shrugged it off not wanting his son to see how upset he was. “Yes, Sweet Pea?” Magnus answered walking over to the bed of his son sitting down on the edge of it and running his hand through Rafes hair while the young boy looked worried at his Papa. “Will Daddy really leave us?” Rafe asked and for a moment Magnus was thinking about wether he should tell his son what he really thought or if he should lie. Usually Magnus always knew that everything was alright no matter how ugly their arguments got but this time he had no idea how they should fix it. “I don’t know…but I promise you we will always love you. You can always count on him…you dad and I just aren't good for each other anymore and the love is fading. But the love he has for you two will never fade.” Magnus wrapped his arms around his son because admitting that Alec and his marriage was dying was hard and hurt like hell…//tbc first chapter of the one shot.
