>> option one, confront them now
Without wasting a second, Burnetstar leaped from the High Boulder, dust lightly meeting his paws as he landed neatly. The sound of this movement started Wasptail, and Mousepelt shifted ever so slightly as to shield his older mentor. The great ginger tabby crossed camp with strong steps, vivid green eyes hard and focused on the two medicine cats.
"What happened?" Burnetstar hissed, pushing up in their space. The dark ginger Wasptail shrunk down, and his gray apprentice took a step back as well.
"Noth-Nothing. Nothing a-at all." Wasptail's voice was hoarse. Mousepelt's yellow eyes were wide, but his mouth didn't open. Wasptail's the weaker one, he's the one I'm going to get information out of.
"You tell me right now. I'm sure you could still do your job with only one eye, what do you think, Mousepelt?" Burnetstar shoved Wasptail onto the ground, raised a paw. His claws slid out, arching menacingly over the small russet tom's head.
"Please— Don't!" Mousepelt took a step forward, but Burnetstar bat him away easily with a paw.
"If you want to see out of both eyes you tell me what happened." Wasptail shut his eyes tight, small whimpers escaping his muzzle, which he has clamped shut. "Have it your way then."
Burnetstar slowly dug his claws into Wasptail's brow, getting a pained cry in return. "Tell me now!" Wasptail let out another cry of pain. Burnetstar began to draw his claws down, closer and closer to the golden amber eye. Blood greeted his claws, leaving a trail of sticky red in their wake. "Say goodbye—,"
"Wait!!" Mousepelt tried to headbutt the muscled leader off, but Burnetstar held his footing without a problem. The HazeClan leader glanced over to the smaller gray and white tom, whose eyes were wide with fear. "Please stop. Don't hurt him anymore. I'll tell you everything."
"Mousepelt, don't!" Wasptail whispered. "Protect the clan, not me."
"He'll be protecting the clan by telling me." Burnetstar growled, stepping off of Wasptail. The medicine cat scrambled to his paws. "If you lie at all, I'll know, and an eye isn't the only thing Wasptail will loose." He bared his teeth. Mousepelt hung his head but nodded. "Let's go to the medicine den." He led the two away to the brush and rocks that walled in the den. The particular sharp scent of herbs clung to the air, what was usually comforting and sweet was now mixing unpleasantly with the fear scent coming from Wasptail. It was, thankfully, void of patients.
Mousepelt swallowed uneasily and took his place standing in front of his mentor.
"Alright." Mousepelt whispered hoarsely.
"Before you think about making something up, know that I will know." Burnetstar sat down, blocking the light that usually spilled in from entrance. "Mousepelt, how's your sister doing? I haven't had the chance to really speak to Quietsteam since I became leader, but I was think I really should get around to sharing tongues with your littermate." The leader's sharp green eyes glimmered in the shadows. Mousepelt was frozen in shock, and Burnetstar felt a satisfactory smile at the panic on the gray tom's face. That's right, Mousepelt. I know that you're weak for your kind-hearted sister. I know you'll do anything if I threatened her, even vaguely.
"I'm sorry, Wasptail...," Mousepelt chokes out, hanging his head. His eyes were shut tight with pain, and he lashed his tail. "I can't let him hurt her. I can't—!" He picked his head up, yellow-green eyes filled with pain. "There was an a prophecy." He said finally, his voice quavering slightly. Burnetstar raised his brows slightly, ears moving forward with interest. "We don't know what it really means, only that it's alluding to how to end your reign." Burnetstar felt his lip curl.
"Well?! Tell it..!" He half-stood in anticipation. Mousepelt swallowed, but took a deep breath.
"The kin of a mighty warrior has awakened. Even the faintest flame can strip away the darkness."
Burnetstar sat down, eyes narrowed with thought. Faintest flame... that could be any cat really. It could refer to a cat with some kind of fire in their name, or a cat with a firey personality, Igor nothing to with with a fire-y cat at all. It could be about— about just about anything! A low growl rumbled in his throat.
"Useless; StarClan is useless! Faintest flame, strip away the darkness... I may not know what it means, but more importantly, it's impossible for you to know what it means!" He stood up, turning around sharply. "I have things I have to do. You two better not tell another soul what you've told me, and if you do I'll make you regret it."
