Chapter 3
So, it was class time. Unfortunately, I don't have first period with any of my friends, but that's fine. It's nice to stay focused and get work done without having to worry about distracting myself with conversation. Not that teachers allow that, anyway.
But this day was going to be different for me. And I wouldn't know, until this very moment.
__________
"Good morning, class." The teacher said with a smile. "Today we're going to start the day with an introduction."
'An introduction?' Jackie thought to herself. 'A new student perhaps?'
At that moment, the door opened and a teenage girl with long black hair walked through. Her eyes were greener than a forest and her outfit consisted of a dark green crop top, a forest green mini jacket, grey pants, and black heeled boots.
"This is Chelsea Hunter." The teacher said. "Everyone, give her a warm welcome."
"Welcome, Chelsea." The class all said at once.
"She's hot!" A random teenage boy said from the the back of the class, causing everyone to laugh.
"Now, let's keep it appropriate." The teacher said. "Chelsea, why don't you take a seat?"
"Thank you, ma'am." Chelsea said as she went to the first empty seat she saw.
And that empty seat just so happened to be next to Jackie.
'O. . . M. . . G! The new girl is sitting next to me!' Jackie thought to herself. 'What do I do? Do I introduce myself to her?'
"Now, everyone turn to page 69 in your textbooks." The teacher said.
"Nice!" The same teenage boy from before shouted from the back, making everyone laugh again.
"Okay, real mature." The teacher said, rolling her eyes. "Just read the chapter and then turn to a partner and discuss what you read."
With that said, the teacher sat back at her desk as everyone immediately began to talk amongst each other. Was it about the text? Of course not. No one cares about the schoolwork, they just want to talk. That's just high school. But the teacher didn't seem to care.
Jackie began to feel extra nervous with the new girl sitting next to her. She didn't know what to say or do in this situation.
__________
I may be popular, but that doesn't mean I'm perfect. Even I get nervous around others that I don't know. But what was I supposed to do? I didn't want to make a fool of myself in front of the new girl.
___________
"Hi, I'm Chelsea, as you heard." Chelsea said, turning to Jackie. "Can I be your partner for the reading?"
Jackie blushed as she tensed up, not knowing what to do.
"Sorry, I'm very social." Chelsea said. "I like to talk to people. If you're uncomfortable, then-"
"Oh no, you're fine." Chelsea said. "It's just that. . . you're so pretty."
"Oh. . . well, thank you." Chelsea said, blushing a bit. "You're quite pretty yourself."
"I'm Jackie." Jackie said, introducing herself. "Jackie Moon."
"Well, it's nice to meet you, Jackie." Chelsea said with a smile. "I'll trust that we'll get along just fine."
"Y-Yeah. . . I sure hope so." Jackie said.
"Do you have any friends?" Jackie asked. "Not meaning that in a rude way, I'm just curious."
"Yeah, I have a whole friend group." Jackie said. "Maybe I can introduce you to them at lunch."
"That would be grand." Chelsea said with a smile.
"Cool." Jackie said. "Anyway, we should probably catch you up on the material."
"Sure." Chelsea said, scooting her desk closer to Jackie.
The two of them spent class reading and discussing (which is what they're supposed to do). It was clear that they were possibly going to become good friends.
. . . . .
After a few more classes, it was lunchtime. Jackie was walking around with Chelsea and had just finished giving her a mini tour of the school.
"So, that's it." Jackie said. "Roosevelt High at it's finest. You like it?"
"I guess so." Chelsea said. "It's a pretty nice school, if I do say so myself."
"So. . . wanna get some lunch?" Jackie asked. "The cafeteria is this way."
"Actually, my mother packed me a lunch." Chelsea said. "She doesn't believe in paying the school for their shitty food."
"Oh. . . right. Me too." Jackie said, with a nervous chuckle. "I just thought that. . . nevermind."
"So, where are your friends at?" Chelsea asked.
"Follow me." Jackie said. "We usually hang out around the outdoor table area."
Jackie then led Chelsea over to where her friends were hanging out. It was by the same place as always.
"Hey, guys." Jackie said.
"Sup, JK!" Zoey said with a friendly smile. "Who's your new friend?"
"This is Chelsea." Jackie said. "She's new here. She was in my first period class."
"Hi." Chelsea said with a wave.
"Well well well. . . how are you, cutie?" Tristan said with a flirtatious smirk. "Name's Tristan. But people call me King T."
"No, they don't." Harmony said.
"Stop acting like hot shit, Tristan." Ryan said, playfully punching his arm. "Just be cool."
"Uh. . . hi?" Chelsea said. "It's nice to meet the friends of my textbook partner."
"Hey, any friend of Jackie's is a friend of ours." Zoey said. "Right, guys?"
"Hell yeah." Michael said. "I'm Michael Morningstar Jr. Son of archangel himself."
"I'm Zoey Kurogane." Zoey said. "Welcome to the group, Chelz. Uh. . . can I call you Chelz?"
"Uh. . . sure." Chelsea said.
"This is my brother, Marshall Caldera." Zoey said. "And over there is Harmony Casperan. And the beefcakes over there are Ryan, Tristan, and Alex."
"Hello." Ryan said with a wave. "I'm Ryan. Tristan introduced himself already."
Alex just smiled and waved.
"It's so good to meet you all." Chelsea said. "I hope I can bring good things to the group."
"Don't worry your pretty face, Chelz." Zoey said. "As long as Sarah and Grayson like you, you're welcome to stay with us as long as you want."
"Who are they?" Chelsea asked.
"Oh, they're our other friends." Jackie said. "But they're out of school."
"Yeah, they're basically the parents of the group." Alex said. "Whatever they say goes."
"Except they don't like Ryan." Harmony said. "But we keep having him around anyway."
"Cause I'm Jackie's boyfriend." Ryan said. "I kind of have to be there."
"They don't like Tristan, either." Harmony said.
"Eh, who does?" Michael said.
Tristan scoffed. "I'm right here, asshole." He said, sounding a bit offended.
"Well. . . this is quite the group." Chelsea said. "I think I'll enjoy my time with you guys."
"That's amazing." Jackie said. "I can't wait for you to join us on our amazing adventures!"
"Adventures?" Chelsea asked, sounding confused.
"Yeah, we like to have fun." Zoey said. "But it's mostly chill."
"We've got a clubhouse built at Jackie's place." Marshall said. "It's awesome! It's been there since we were all in middle school."
"Wow. . . you were friends for that long, huh?" Chelsea asked.
"Some of us, even earlier than that." Michael said.
"That's nice." Chelsea said. "You guys seem pretty cool to be around."
"Well, of course we are." Michael smirked.
"So, that means you'll be joining us?" Alex asked. "It would be nice to have a new group member."
"Sure. Why not?" Chelsea said.
"Hell yeah!" Zoey cheered. "New girl is our friend! You won't regret this!"
Chelsea smiled as she spent more time with her new friends. Her first day was a success and everyone was glad to have made her day better.
