Fanfiction Tag thingy

I didn't know where to put this but I was tagged so here goes—

1. Out of all of your works, which story would be your favorite?

Classified since I haven't published either of them on Wattpad (nor do I ever plan to).

2. What's the easiest genre to write, in your opinion?

Fantasy. I've written it the most and you can do pretty much whatever you want with it. It's very versatile and you can control things however you want, and I love the freedom of it.

3. What is your opinion of self insert fics? (Reader X Character)

I read one once. Almost threw up. I don't want my name on my favorite character's lips, and there's no need to taint their souls with my filth.

But if you like them good for you ig? They're not my thing.

4. How do you get your inspiration to write?

Usually from dreams, sometimes from songs. I don't often get "random" dreams, there's always a set plot to them. Sometimes a plot can even continue through multiple dreams, and if the plot seems strong enough, maybe I'll write about it.

As for songs... that one's kind of self-explanatory I think.

5. Do you ever suffer from Writer's Block? If so, how often?

I do, and when I do, it's for a very long period of time. Usually I'll have an overflow of inspiration and motivation, and that can last for months or even over a year. Then I'll have writer's block for almost the same amount of time, and the cycle repeats... it sucks. But right now I've been going the longest without getting writer's block, so I'm quite proud of myself!

6. Which fandom is your favorite to write for?

It used to be Aphmau, just because there was so much versatility in her characters between the different universes and stories she constructed with them. However, I've kind of fallen out of that fandom and now it's Vocaloid... for the same reason. I love the freedom in the fandom, and there are a lot of possibilities.

7. How long are your chapters, usually?

It depends on the story. Some of them, it's between 700-1000 words; some are around 1000-1500, and some are even longer than that (even ranging up to 3000 words on average). Again, a lot of those stories I haven't put on Wattpad.

8. What is your most favorite genre to write?

Something that's a blend of fantasy, sci-fi, and/or psychological horror. It's a challenge and takes a lot of work and patience for me, but I'm usually quite proud of the result.

9. Do you write for only one fandom, or do you write for many?

As of now I'm only writing for Vocaloid and Lumi Nova... which I'm not sure if it counts as a fandom, but she (it?) has a fanbase, so I think it's a valid fandom?

I used to write for Aphmau but that kinda died a while ago, same for Wings of Fire but I might go back to that one.

10. Do you take requests? Commissions?

As of now, no.

11. What is your most popular fanfiction?

The Boy by the Shore, I think? It used to be When the Stars Align before I took it down and reuploaded it... oops.

12. How many stories have you written?

Eight; some aren't published, some are in progress behind the scenes, and some are being currently written and published.

13. Would you consider fanfiction as your "thing," or just a hobby?

Mostly just a hobby.

14. Do you read other fanfictions?

Of course!

15. What is the best advice you can give other fanfiction authors?

This doesn't just apply to fanfiction, but rather to all writers...

Even if you think your story sucks, try to finish it! Then go back, see what sucks about it, and fix it. That's how you'll improve and that's how your story will not suck.

Also, after you finish, maybe just put it aside and ignore the story for a few days or a week or a month or something before going and editing. It always helps to go back and edit with fresh eyes, because then all the problems will magically appear (at least to me, lol).

16. Do you believe the stereotype that all fanfiction is smut?

Of course not. I don't put smut in my fanfictions.

Yet.

17. Do you write smut/mature fics?

Mature... yes, one is in progress.

Smut... no.

Well, not yet at least. Maybe in the future, maybe not ever. I'm not telling you.

18. Is there a story you're not exactly fond of? Have you gotten rid of it?

Yeah, there are a lot... only one was actually published here though. I didn't exactly "get rid of it"; I unpublished it, but I'm not going to permanently delete it.

19. How many years have you been practicing fanfiction?

Ok first of all, "practicing"? Is this some kind of cult ritual? What am I missing here—

Second of all... I don't know. It's been forever kind of? Before I can remember tbh...

I used to write fanfictions before I knew what fanfictions were, let's keep it at that.

20. How often do you update your story(ies)?

I'd like to update every week at least, but usually it takes longer than that... I honestly have a terrible schedule, I don't even know what to call it anymore

21. Does it bother you when you read another fanfiction and the characters aren't in character?

Honestly... yeah. It annoys me when people think they can change whatever they want about a fandom or characters. I know AUs are a thing, but characters should still be relatively the same. I think.

22. Is it easy or hard for you to write?

It takes me a while to get started, but once I do, I just go on and on and on... and pretty soon my chapter is way longer than I intended. So yes and no, I suppose.

23. Do you write original/fan characters in your fanfics?

No, it's kind of weird to me and honestly I'll put down fanfictions if the author does that. I'd only do that if I was really desperate for another character or something...

24. Have you ever written a fanfic about your favorite ship/couple?

I mean... yes? Don't most fanfic authors do that?

25. Do you ever take inspiration from your life and add it into your stories?

My life? No. But I do always put a piece of myself in at least one character of all stories or fanfictions I create.

26. Who is your favorite fanfiction author? Or regular author?

It constantly changes since I'm always reading, but as of late, it's Soman Chainani (author of the School for Good and Evil series).

27. Do you have any inspirational figures?

From a writing standpoint, I admire different things about different people. Sara Holland's emotional prowess, Chainani's versatility with dynamic character development and worldbuilding, Tui T. Sutherland's crafty characterization... the list goes on.

28. Have you made any headcanons/AUs for your fic?

For vocaloid, I think you kind of have to create your own headcanons and AUs since there's really not a lot specified about each character except what they look like, their age, height, and in some cases, basic likes and dislikes...

So yes.

29. How long does it take you to normally write a story?

It depends on the story, how much I plan, how long the story is...

It can be anywhere from three months to over a year.

Ok that's all :>
