Chapter 27. I need to help him! He saved my life as well, I can't let him die!

I tried not to gain too much attention as I walked through the streets. I kept looking over my shoulder, afraid I would face a bunch of Decepticons. Like Grumble instructed, I stumbled upon a house and quickly knocked on the door. A tall, broad mech opened up and raised an optic ridge. 'What are you doing here at this time?' he asked. 'I need to have a quick word. It's about Grapple,' I said. Hoist let me in. 'I am Dino... I found Grapple on the streets. He was attacked by Decepticons. It's a long story, but I need to find Ratchet. He told me you know him quite well,' I said. 'I do, he was my mentor. 'I have heard he's in town. I will try to make a quick call.' Hoist walked off and I quickly followed.

'I need to call Prowl for this as well,' I heard him muttered. 'It's a bit of chaos right now. The Decepticons are planning an attack on the city and Optimus Prime. They wanted the blueprints of the building Grapple constructed. I have prove but no one wants to believe me and Prowl is knocked out for the time being so... I don't except much help from his side,' I said. Hoist shook his helmet, 'I should've known... the Decepticons can't be trusted,' he scowled patiently, even I didn't have much time, or Grapple doesn't have much time. 'He's doesn't pick up.'

'They much have cut off all the communication,' Hoist sulked and threw the phone away. 'We need to find Ratchet quickly and try to warn as many people as possible,' I said. Hoist started thinking. 'The only way to do that is to talk to Optimus Prime himself,' he said. 'He's probably missing his second in command by now. He'll search for him if he can't reach him... we need to help Grapple first or he will die.' Hoist nodded and walked over to the closet, grabbing a few guns. 'You know how to handle one, kid?' he asked. 'Uhm, no...' I said, taking the gun from him. 'Load and shoot,' he showed me the few buttons before walking over to the door.

'Don't hesitate to shoot, alright, kid?'

I nodded and followed him. 'How did you end up in this shit hole?' he asked. 'Long story... I spied on the Decepticons for a very long time but no one ever wanted to believe me. I have prove back home, it's hopeless. Who trusts a mech like me? The only one who believed in me was my mother. She was taken from me a few years prior. Bonecrusher killed her,' I scowled. 'I am sorry to hear... they killed a good friend of mine as well. That was the first sign I noticed something was off, but just like in your case, they dismissed my idea,' he sighed. 'They are after the allspark,' I added. 'That's a myth.' I didn't reply. 'Unless you know where it is...'

'I can cloak myself, I will sneak in as soon as we get there. Any idea on which floor I need to search?' I asked. Hoist grabbed me and slammed me against the wall. I followed his gaze. Decepticons were storming out of the hosptial. 'Something is wrong,' Hoist said. 'They are coming for Ratchet...' I said quietly. 'We need to help him! We need him,' I said. There was a huge explosian, a big part of the building collapsed. My optics widened in horror and I was frozen in place. Hoist next to me had the same expression on his face. I ran up to the building but Hoist yanked on my arm. 'What are you going to do!' he hissed. 'I need to help him! He saved my life as well, I can't let him die!' I shouted and yanked my arm back, ranning up to the building and started to maneuver a way through all the debris.

I had no idea where to look. 'Ratchet!' I shouted, but there was no reply. I climbed over pieces of rock and dead bodies. Everyone I have seen for so far, had perised in the blast. 'Ratchet?' I called out again and looked around. The flames were high, the smoke was infiltrating my systems. 'Ratchet!' I called out again, feeling my systems heat up. Some cabling were on the verge of melting. I jumped over a few rocks, desperate to find Ratchet. I then spotted something and ran up to Ratchet. He was unconcious. I shook his shoulder, feeling the flames burn my back. I shook him again. 'Ratchet! Ratchet!' The medic woke up from the commotion and seemed confused.

'Mirage?'

'You need to get up or we are both gonna die.'
'I am stuck... you need to go,' he said. I shook my helm, 'I am not leaving without you. You saved my life and I will not leave with you,' I stated. 'I don't want to lose you too,' I added quietly. The medic started to shift, but he was stuck. I got up, pushing some debris aside. 'Your systems are overheating,' he hissed. I ignored his pleads and tried to fee his legs. 'It's not working! Get out of here, Mirage,' he shouted. I looked around and reached for a metal rod, lifting the debris slightly. Ratchet rolled aside. He was injured. The mech crawled and fell down. I grabbed him, 'Ratchet... you need to get up, please,' I begged. The mech barely respond.

With the last remaining strengh I had in my already damanged and tired frame, I hoisted Ratchet up and helped him to find a save way out. Hoist instantly helped me to get Ratchet out as we reached the broken entrance. 'Damn it, Mirage... that was too dangerous,' Ratchet hissed, looking at me. 'We need you, I need you and I don't want to lose you,' I said. The medic looked behind him. 'The Decepticons will return to check if you're dead... we need to leave,' Hoist said as Ratchet started to protest. 'I need to help–' I cut him off. 'They are all dead, Ratchet.'

The mech looked at the building behind him, shaking his helmet. 'We need to go.' Hoist dragged Ratchet with him. During our trip, the medic said nothing, he was shocked and numb. We made it back to our little base and it started to get quite busy. Sunstreaker was sitting next to Grapple, making him comfortable and Prowl was half concious as well. 'Ratchet...' Prowl's optics widened and he struggled in the chains. Hoist and I sat him down before I released Prowl. He rushed over to Ratchet, helping him. 'What happened?'

'They're all dead...' Prowl had a concerned look on his face. 'What?' he asked confused. 'They blew up the hospital...' I said quietly as Ratchet didn't respond. 'They?'
'The Decepticons... they are planning an attack and they have started,' Hoist said. 'No, that's possible, they wouldn't do that,' Prowl said quietly. 'They will and this is only the start, their next attack will be much bigger. They are going to kill Optimus and if he dies, it's your fault because you didn't believe me! In fact... this is all your fault, the death of these people at the hospital... only because you were following the system. There won't be a system anymore tomorrow morning!' I shouted. A deadly silence fell. 'Look around you, Prowl... if you had believed me, none of this would've happened in the first place,' I snapped before I stormed off.
