Party?
I kind of sat there for a while, soaking it all in. My heart raced, like for real. This sounds stupid, and cheesy but I could feel my heart beating in my chest, and harder than normal.
"Wow..."
I sat there, starring at him. He bit his lip.
"I get it if you don't really feel the same. It's ok, but please, still be my friend. If I can't love you, I'll settle for being your friend."
I smiled at him.
"Thank you, but honestly I really don't know right now. I just never really thought about us being...more than just friends."
I really had no idea what I was saying. I'd just heard some girl in a movie say something like it.
Andy was nice, not that bad looking, and most of all, he understood me. If I was awkward around him, it was the kind of awkward that didn't last long. Like when your friend farts, but doesn't say anything about it. Ugh I'm so weird.
"I get it, if you need some time to think about this. I just wanted to let you know how I felt. It doesn't mean we need to start dating, and get married next year. Like in the movies."
I laughed, probably more than I should have.
We kind of just sat there talking for a while, when my phone rang.
"Hey were are you? It's late."
It was my mom.
"Sorry I was just at Andy's house. I'll come home now, I didn't have dinner yet."
"Ok see you soon"
I hung up, and Andy looked at me, wondering who it was.
"It was just my mom"
He nodded. I told him I had to go, and made sure he knew I would make my mind up sooner or later.
I threw my hoodie back on, patted his dog one more time, and left.
Dinner was deeeelicuous.
We had BBQ chicken.
I plopped on the couch, stuffed like a turkey. My mom sat down next to me. We talked about the usual stuff. Until..
"Hey um, I know this barely happens, and I'm very sorry."
I looked at her, curious.
"Somehow, me and your father have to go on business trips. He leaves tomorrow morning, I leave Monday afternoon."
I tried SO hard to seem chill.
"Yeah, okay."
I replied.
But actually my answer would be more like:
"WOOHOO!"
But I didn't say that of course.
She nodded.
"Sorry Jade, I know you'll probably be bored. I'll be gone for 3 weeks and your dad will be gone for 4."
I smiled.
"Psh, bored? Yeah right."
Though I must have spoke too soon. Mom had just left, and I had realised I would have to make my own meals....Or would I?
J- Hey, my folks are going to be out of town for a while. Wanna go to McDonald's for dinner tonight?
A - lol rlly?
J- Yeah..ik pretty lame but I can't afford to eat at Olive Garden.
A- Haha ok ok, sure text me when your ready.
I put my phone down, happy. Though just as I placed it down, it buzzed again. It was from Tessa. She's an old friend from a camp I went to. She doesn't live in the same city, so we only talk through text and stuff.
T- OMG guess what??!
J- What??
T- ugh I told you to guess..
J- too lazy >. <
T- lol ok, I'M COMING TO TOWN!!
J- Woah!!
T- Yeah I convinced my parents, I'll be in town for about a week, next week.
We texted for a while, I filled her in on everything that's happened since the last time she texted me.
T- Omg r u for real??!!
J- umm
T- He actually said all that?
J- Yeah, I'm still not sure what to tell him.
T- I ship u guys. U know u like him too.
J- Gah, what??
T- Yeah, you do. You've known him since you were a kid right??
J- Yeah, so? He's my friend, I just don't really see us as more.
T- But..yall would be cute together.
J- o.o
Tessa is sweet, and crazy...she scares me sometimes.
I went to the computer to play some games.
Once again I found myself watching Netflix, and loosing track of time.
4:30
I texted Andy, telling him I'd be out soon.
Before I knew it there was a knock on my door.
"Hey Andy, hold on gotta find my wallet." I told him, leaving the door open.
He nodded and stood waiting.
Finally I found it, and we started walking. We talked about what...semi-normal teens would. I mean, I'm not normal so that's why I said 'semi'.
But of course, out of the blue he asked...
"So I'm not in a rush but...I'm kinda dying to know if you've made up your mind."
At first I was confused, but then I realised what he meant.
"I don't really know. You're the nicest guy ever, but I really don't want this to be a big deal. I just- I'm not ready."
He nodded, and I knew he understood.
We got to McDonald's and ordered. While we were waiting my phone buzzed.
Hey party at my house, 6:30, On Friday. Hope to see you there.
It was Tyler, a guy from school. He was pretty nice, though we didn't talk much. I was suprise he invited me.
I asked Andy if he was invited too.
He said he had received a text before he left the house.
"So are you going?" I asked.
"Yeah probably."
Then I told him about Tessa, and how she might be able to come with me.
"I'm sure Ty wouldn't mind, he's a chill guy. Used to be on my swim team."
I nodded.
I thought it would be forever until the party, but we all know everything goes fast in the summer.
