Age- 5, Diary Entry 1
Oh, hello there! Mama gave me this to practice my writing so this shall be fun! My name is Nabu Ímada Arcustino, But I like to be Nabu! Today is the day I got you, a very soft leather journal for me to write all my thoughts in. So, how did I get you???
I did today before I got you was I was walking with my bodyguard and my big sister from another vai, Yu, around town. Mother, or as people call her, Chief Amela, was yelling for me. Yu patted my shoulder and stared at mom, her going, "Hey Nabby, did you break something?"
I responded with a simple, "no I have not. Not this time." Last time I broke something was a beautiful painting of one of our past chiefs, and I was disciplined hard. A time out, standing in the corner. And I got very queasy while standing there that required for me to be bathed and changed. Heh, I'm glad I'm five. Imagine me being like, in my twenties and having this stupid standing corner issue right? Right? Anyway.
Mother came up to me and heaved me into her arms, as I usually snuggle right into her soft, silk of her robes, wanting to be wrapped in a small ball like a sand seal. I laid my head on her shoulder and held onto her neck, my green eyes going and seeing a bag on her side, right next to her shield. Gently moving, I slowly moved over her shoulder and made grabby hands for the leather bag, until she lifted me back up into her hands, her looking into my eyes. Matching, almost matching green, red hair falling in her face with her crown jewel shimmering on her forehead from the sun, her smiling as she had on this beautiful faux gold locket. Oh, how much I want to open it.
"Hello my little son," she said, speaking in Gerudo. Gerudo is my only language I can speak, but I hear Yu and mother have full blown conversations in Hylian. Same with Mariana, my mother's "bodyguard". I hear about there being a thing called romance between them, but that can wait. I don't even know what it means! Mother brushed back my red hair, her twirling it around her index finger, me whining softly. "Sorry baby, I forgot about the gold-"
"It's fine mama," I responded and looked down. Gold. I cannot be around it. When I touch it, I have these red itchy spots all over my skin and when I scratch, I just wanna keep going. Mother cuts my nails all the time for me to not have it happen, but I can't help it but then begin to bite at it with my tiny teeth. I kept my eyes down, the sun gleaming off my silver crown, it being a lovely circlet. Now, mother cannot touch it.
"Nabby, let's spend the remainder of the day together," she suggested but I just felt out of it. I averted my eyes and shut them, hearing her sigh. "Alright, go play then." I felt my feet return to the ground and opened my eyes back up, watching her walk away. Yu came up behind me, grabbing me from behind and snuggling.
"Come on bro, let's play with the sand seals," she suggested. That did sound like fun, but my amusement was dead. Almost, everything disappeared after mother called for me. Is this how I truly felt about my birther? Her ruining everything?
I shook my head to Yu's suggestion and walked off, going to the palace and up the large stairs, huffing softly. The guards tense a little when they saw me, them bowing quickly and I bowed in return, going to sit on my mother's throne instead of my own. I just began questioning how I felt about her, my elbow relaxing on the arm rest. My green eyes peered up to my mother. I didn't say anything, she didn't say anything back excepts opening her bag and handing me a book.
The book was you, journal. Beautiful leather, my name engraved in it with a, well, I believe a latch to close you up. I ran to my bedroom to write my first entry in it.
Maybe this will be fun. I can work on my literacy and probably sketch in here for a bit. This will be very fun. Even though, my question still lingers.
Do I really hate my mother?
That shall be left unanswered for another day. I must go wash up for supper now. Goodbye my very first entry.
Nabu Í. Arcustino
