I woke up to the sounds of a knocking on my door. I opened it up to find a kiwi standing in the middle of the doorway. "Hello." He said in a cute voice. "My name is Ronald. I can't fly either so Mr Wing put us as partners for our classes. I just thought I'd like to give you the heads up." I stared at him then smiled. "Mr Wing said we had to find partners yesterday. I thought I'd never find a partner but now I have you!" I was so excited about Ronald for a few reasons. Reason 1. He is a native bird to New Zealand. Australia and New Zealand are close friends. Reason 2. He seems like a pretty nice bird. Reason 3. He can't fly like me! We clambered up the fence post and had a good chat. Just as we were finishing up, he handed me a tape. "Thanks. But we don't have a player to watch it on." I said disappointed.
"Let's go into the foyer. There is a old cassette player." He said as we hopped of the fence post. We saw Mr Wing in the foyer sipping juice from a mug that read: Merry Christmas for some reason. "Good morning Andy!" He said cheerfully. "I see you have met your partner Ronald." Ronald stepped forward. "Mr Wing? Can we please use your cassette player?" He nodded as he greeted some other birds. "Yes!" We both cried. ! You can watch the video now ! The video was amazing. It showed lots of pictures of the birds in the school. Birds different colours and shapes. It was so unique. After we watched the tape, we hung around in the foyer. There was a breakfast buffet but Ronald and I didn't feel like eating. We walked outside and looked around. There were some big buff pelicans near the gate and some lovebirds kissing around the door. I looked up and saw lots of birds in a tree. Ronald and I could easily get up the fence post in my bedroom but a tree like this? Heck no. If only I could fly. Here is a picture.
