Wedding and Confusion
The day had come, it was the day of the wedding. She woke up in the arms of Simon though to be honest she did not think either of them had sleep well if at all. Simon kissed her shoulder as she turned and looked up at him. She didn't know what would happen after the weddings, she didn't research that far ahead.
Within just a few hours, she stood before a mirror. Wedding dress on, hair pulled back and flowers in her hand. The time had come and she had hoped that maybe Lord Barsham would back out at the last minute. No such news ever came. Her cousin, the queen came in and smiled at her cousin. Each of the ladies in waiting giving her wonderful compliments but she still felt weird about the whole situation.
"Dear girl, today you will have title and more qualities in your new life than you ever had in your old one." The queen smiled taking hold of her hands and smiling, she wanted to see Diana smile.
Diana smiled a small smile but it was enough to make the queen nod. She then led her cousin to the big double doors of the chapel. The queen and her ladies went and took their seats. Taking a deep breath Diana looked up and said a silent prayer. She knew she was doing the right thing but she began to wonder if her heart would be in more trouble down the road. Pacing before the door, she gave herself a small pep talk telling her that she knew what she was doing and she could get through this. Then she stood before the doors, smiled and nodded to the men holding the doors. They opened them and Diana walked herself down the aisle. She looked straight ahead and saw Samuel was looking right at her, though she had to squint to see him. This was a large chapel, she looked closer and could have sworn she saw a tear roll down Samuel's eye. Was she seeing things now? Why would he of all people have tears in his eyes right now?
Once she reached him, Samuel took her hands in his and they looked at the priest. She had no idea how long catholic ceremonies took but she followed along with it to the best of her ability. Not saying she hadn't spaced off a couple of times and when Sam saw her staring at him he mouthed one word to her. 'Vows' and nodded to the priest, that got her attention.
"Do Lady Diana, take this man Samuel Barsham to be your husband as long as you both shall live?" the priest asked and all eyes were on her.
"I do." The words flowed out of her mouth without a second thought.
"Do you Lord Samuel Brasham take this woman, Lady Diana, to be your wedded wife as long as you both hall live?" the priest now asked Samuel.
"I do." He grinned and gripped her hand.
The priest went back to talking about something for at least another ten minutes before Diana heard the words Husband and Wife. It was then Samuel pulled her to him and kissed her fully on the lips, he wrapped her arms around his neck and reciprocated. Pulling away Sam took her hand and led her out of the chapel.
The main hall was alive with music and wine as well as dancing. The torches and candles lit the hall and made it look very welcoming. Diana entered with her now husband Samuel. He grinned as he began to dance with her. After much dancing, drinking and eating it was time to retire. The King and Queen followed them into the bedchamber where Diana was dressed in her nightgown by different members of the court, females only though. The same would go for Samuel only the men had helped him. With the blankets held back, Diana and Sam slipped into bed and the curtains around the bed were drawn down. They could hear footsteps of people leaving the room and the doors finally closing.
"Guards will be out in front of the doors all night wanting to report if we consummated our marriage or not." Sam sighed running his fingers back through is hair.
"Talk about no privacy at all, that seems like a bit much." Diana sighed.
"It's all too true, what do you suggest we do?'' Sam asked laying back and closing his eyes.
Diana remember that she needed to get through this for the good of the mission and she hoped Simon wouldn't be mad with what she had done. Looking at Sam, he looked relaxed with not much to worry about because they wouldn't kill him for not being able to produce and heir but they would her. Diana rolled onto Sam and sat atop him. His eyes opened wide and looked at her.
"Well, hello wife." He chuckled as he looked at their position.
"Husband, I am not as experienced as you but I do not want to cause any suspicion for the King or Queen." Diana stated letting him know she wasn't like other girls.
Sam sat up on his elbows and looked his wife over. She was blushing, which he found one of the most beautiful looks she had, he gently sat up and caressed her cheek. Then time froze, Diana waved her hand in front of Sam confused as to what just happened. The curtain then opened and Abigail stuck a needle in Sam's arm.
"Mom!" Diana gasped as she was shocked to see what was happening.
"Just to make sure he is clean, you are my daughter and I don't want you to catch anything, not even from him or Simon." Abigail shrugged as she put the blood sample into a machine she had on her person.
Within a few minutes Abigail heard the machine beep and looked down. She was surprised to see that Sam was clean. Diana rolled her eyes and watched as Abigail wiped the surface of his arm where she got the blood. Then in a blink of an eye she was gone. Sam gasped and looked to his arm as time returned to normal.
"Did I miss something?" Sam asked looking at his arm only to see nothing there.
"Nope, you were leaning in close to me." Diana fibbed.
Sam nodded and blinked multiple times. He then held her head as he kissed her deeply. He was going to guide her through the night and hopefully she wouldn't go running out of the room. Diana grabbed the rim of his shirt and lifted it off of him. In the glint of the candlelight she saw that he had a scar on his chest. Tracing it with her finger she wondered how he had gotten the scar but didn't speak about it. Sam braced her and rolled her over.
"Make sure to make lots of noise." Sam chuckled.
Later that night, a sound of thunder booming in the sky woke Diana. Her eyes blinked open as she looked around. She wasn't in her usual room, she was is Sam's room which would now be linked with her. She felt an arm around her bare stomach and she was very warm on her back. She turned her head just a bit and saw Sam fast asleep holding her. No doubt the guards had already told the king and queen about them consummating the marriage. A crack of lighting made her shiver, unintentionally waking Sam in the process. She shivered and he held her closer. Kissing her neck, Sam tried to distract her, she leaned her head a little giving him more access. He happily obliged her.
"Whenever there is a storm, I can distract you by giving you more attention than you could ever give a storm." Sam whispered in her ear.
"Even if we aren't at court?" she questioned though she didn't realize what she was truly saying.
"Even at our estate. We are married now Diana, what's mine if yours and you are mine." Sam said as he bent down and kissed her in a heat of passion.
The next morning, Sam could hear the bird of the early morning. He opened his eyes and looked down to find Diana fast asleep on his chest. He gently caressed her hair as he looked upon her restful sleeping face. Even if he had to share with Simon, he knew one day she would have his child. After last night, that could happen sooner rather than later. She then turned her head up to look at him.
"Morning wife. Ready to head to the estate today?" Sam asked and Diana looked confused.
"What about the trial?"
"The King moved it to next month, have no fear she is still in the dungeons and had no chance of getting out." Sam said as he gently guided Diana up to him. "The staff will be happy to know I brought home a wife."
Giving her a good long kiss, Sam helped her sit up while covered in a sheet. He then got out of bed and began to dress. Diana watched him as he turned back around and chuckled at her.
"Was twice last night and once this morning not enough?" Sam said as he pulled up his pants.
Diana immediately blushed and was about to get out of bed when Sam stopped her. He put a big box on her lap in the bed. What had he gotten her now? She was curious to see and quickly opened it. There inside was a gorgeous blue dress.
"Do you like it?" Sam asked.
"Very much so, thank you." Diana smiled as she leaned in and kissed him as if she had done it for a long time.
Sam smiled as he finished getting dressed, Diana stood too and quickly got dressed. The dress was a perfect fit. Now she began to wonder though how long they would be traveling to the estate. She turned around and as if reading her mind Sam answered.
"Three days, its not too far but its not as close as others." Sam replied as he went to Diana.
Diana nodded and looked about the room, she hadn't noticed yesterday but everything of Sam's that he had brought here was gone. Sam took her by the hand and led her out of the room. She followed him and saw that the queen was waiting just beside a carriage.
"Cousin, I wish you a wonderful journey and hope when you return there is news of a little one on the way." The queen smiled and Diana paled.
Little one? As in a baby? Uh...she would say that was against the rules, but she knew her mother had her oldest brother in a different time period. What would happen? Whose would it be? It could either be Sam's or Simon's. Smiling she nodded and said goodbye to her cousin. Getting into the carriage she then saw Simon already sitting and waiting to go on the journey. Sam soon got in too and sat beside Diana.
"Brendan, have no fear at my estate you will not be some servant. Instead I plan to have you help me and god forbid if something happens to me, I will request you take my place as the Lord of the land, Diana's husband and father of our children if we have any." Sam said with a grin on his face as the carriage took off.
Was this guy crazy or was he planning something? Simon couldn't help but wonder he looked to Diana but she looked just as lost as he did. She shrugged not knowing what to say. Simon nodded at Sam who looked out the window.
"Weather is on our side, in three days we will be home." Sam said, his tone a jolly one.
