Trick
Diana sat as she listened to her mother's plan. Even with Camile's memory being erased, she knew that she would try to convince the King she was needed by his side. However he couldn't do so if Camile and Sam went against Diana and forced her to be under the queens guard again. Sam was not happy with the plan, he now knew one of the children she was carrying was him and to betray that trust, could he ever earn it back. Simon would be restored to his old title of Lord and take Diana into his care with a simple little "rewrite" as the agents referred to it. Taking a small piece of history and literally re writing it. It would be completely forgotten when they left the time though.
"I still don't see why we don't just drag her into our court now?" Samson spoke up from another part of the room.
"For what? Time traveling? Stealing a watch? She would get a simple slap on the wrist." Abigail sighed and shrugged.
"How about attempted murder?" John spoke up from beside Abigail. "We even have that part on tape."
"We have to make sure that she is too terrified to ever attempt to time travel again. This will work, trust me. We need a little more time and then we can make sure everything will go according to our plan and not hers." Abigail encouraged everyone in the room.
"So I just go to the King and her cousin the Queen and denounce her? That will be all?" Sam questioned not at all happy with the situation.
"Apparently so, I don't see why they would ask for more information." Jameson, Diana's other brother spoke with a sigh as well. "Still it's a big risk mom, Camile could take things too far on Lord Barsham and if he didn't follow along with her, only god knows what she would do to make Diana jealous."
All eyes were on Diana, she looked out the window into the dark grey sky that was pouring down rain. She hated when the decision was all on her, so much pressure from everyone around her. Family and friends. Taking a deep breath she closed her eyes.
"What other choice do we have? Risk her exposing up or have Sam keep an eye on her? Either way it seems like a fruitless plan. He could end up impregnating her as well then who knows what would happen." Diana spoke with a new sadness in her tone.
All eyes then went to Sam and all the eyes were wide with concern.
"I wouldn't do that, I'd put something in her drink to knock her out." Sam tried to bring some relief to the people in the room.
Still this was the plan, Sam would trade Diana for Camile right before the King and Queen and pray that no questions were asked. Once arriving from a long journey, Diana was clearly warn out but she knew she had to play her part. She followed both Sam and Camile to the throne room. Camile giggled and was giddy as she hugged onto Sam. Rolling her eyes, Diana resisted punching her in the face and throwing her out of a window. Once the doors opened to the throne room and they approached the throne, they were met with a surprise. Catherine was no longer Queen, instead Anne now sat in her place.
"Lord Barsham, what have you come here for and with the prisoner on your arm and not your wife?" the king asked completely flabbergasted.
"She used witchcraft my lord, she cast a spell on Lord Barsham to transfer the feelings he had for me onto her. I demand she be tried and killed for such a deed." Camile spoke before Sam even had a chance.
Without Catherine there to come to her cousins aid, the king for some unknown reason to god took what Camile spoke seriously. Irons were placed on Diana's hands and Simon was livid with Sam at that moment. He didn't speak, instead Sam watched as the king announced that Diana would be sent to the dungeons to await her trial. Diana did not speak a word, she only had one tear fall from her eyes, a tear that the new Queen Anne saw.
The guards escorted Diana out of the throne room and to the dungeon cell she would be kept in. she wept as she sat down in her cell. So much for the plan, now not only was that not happening but she was accused of witchcraft and would be tried for such. Would she die before she ever met her children.
"I knew this was a bad idea from the start." Simon said through the iron bars that kept Diana contained.
"We were foolish to think she didn't have an antidote or something. She knew perfectly well what she was doing." Diana sighed as she walked to the bars of the cell. "Simon please, do not do anything that has you ending up in here with me."
Simon felt gutted as he watched the woman he loved try to be strong. He could tell she was scared, hell so was he. They heard another pair of footsteps and both turned to see Sam looking up them. His eyes were red as though he had been crying.
"Your false tears will bring you no sympathy." Simon scoffed at Sam.
"I couldn't say a word, my mouth moved and nothing came out I swear." Sam pleaded more with Diana than Simon.
"Yet I stand here before you, to be tried as a witch and either hung, beheaded or burnt at the stake. Forgive me if I do not find any happiness in looking upon you Lord Barsham." Diana replied as she turned and went back to the small bench in her cell.
Sam dashed from the room and Simon thought it best to follow him. Sam was a man on a mission though, he went right to his room where he knew Camile would be and he grabbed her by the neck and shoved her against a wall. She gasped in shock as Simon followed in behind Sam.
"Your jealous harlot! You know she be no witch! You be the witch!" Sam yelled right into the face of Camile.
Instead of showing fear or pleading, the woman chuckled.
"You are too late, I spoke and gave my evidence to the king. She will be beheaded first thing in the morning. Not even going to the tower, just to the lawn." Camile chuckled.
Simon now intervened, he grabbed Camile by her head and held her down right before the flames of the fireplace.
"What evidence you lying whore!" Simon now yelled.
"It's too late, nothing or anyone can save her." Camile laughed like a mad woman.
"Same can be said for you. When you are out of here, I will make sure your sentence is the most severe possible, one even worse than death." Simon said and shoved her to the side of the room.
Diana was praying, she knew deep down everything had gone wrong. She knew this was something her mother could not help her with mostly because she had intervened too much in the mission. Many doubts went through her head, what if truly no one could help her in time? She would never get to meet her children, see her family that she missed even though she had seen them not too long ago. Her father, oh how she wished she would see her father. Aro of Rome, he knew better than any man she had ever met.
"You and your mother have a true talent in getting in trouble." A deep male voice spoke from behind her, a very familiar voice.
Turning around Diana burst into tears as she saw her father was standing in her cell. Jumping up she went to him and threw her arms around him. She had missed him so much. He hugged her back with the strength of the men he had trained, kissing her on the head to try and reassure her.
"My dear child, you must never forget I am always with you. I am your father and one of your many guardians. We have never abandoned you and we never will." He said as he pulled away from her. "Diana do you remember who you are named after from my time?"
"The goddess of the Hunt, also the name mother had while in your time." She answered him.
"Exactly, the goddess of whose name you share would not just sit here waiting for human to decide her fate. What would she do?" he father questioned her.
"Make a plan, try to find the best escape and quickly leave before anyone took notice." Diana said as the wheels in her head began to spin. "I would have to wait until I am out of the cell..."
"You are so brave and smart my daughter. I know you will escape this because you are just like your mother and myself. Don't cry any longer, they do not deserve your tears. Instead use that mind, think of a plan and when the moment if right, execute it." Aro smiled as he hugged his daughter one more time. "You should come visit me once the baby comes."
"Babies you mean right father?" Diana asked looking up and seeing him shocked. "They're twins dad, and yes they will be more than happy to meet their grandfather. Thank you for everything."
Smiling, he kissed her head one last time and disappeared. Diana would do exactly what her father said, make a plan and wait for the right moment to execute it.
