It was the last week before the trial, fall was upon them. Abigail had noticed the change in Diana's attitude as of lately. She had kept an eye on her daughter, except for during the nighttime because she could not bear to see her daughter like that. She had been unwell for the past week, she was nauseous, had weird aches and pains and was tired more than often. Using the watch on Diana, Abigail was able to keep a good check on her health. The report came back normal, she was a little dehydrated but judging from the time period. Abigail would make water bottles appear for Diana for her to drink which she would and then she would hide them.
Diana was currently resting in bed; her mother appeared beside her and gently woke her daughter. She rolled over and smiled at her mother.
"What happened?" Diana asked confused.
"I just want to take a sample of your blood, you aren't well, so I just want to make sure." Abigail reassured her daughter.
Diana held out her arm and Abigail collected the sample. Kissing her daughter's forehead and disappeared. Diana went back to sleep but when she was woken again, her mother stood there with a piece of paper in her hand. Unsure what it was, Diana sat up and took the paper.
"Are you sure?" Diana asked with a shock look.
"Your blood doesn't lie my dear." Abigail said as she sat down and hugged her daughter. "We can discuss more later but please take care of yourself."
Nodding Diana handed the paper back to her mother and she once again disappeared. How could one piece of paper have changed someone's life within a matter of second? She would not say a word about what was on the paper until she absolutely had to. The door to the room suddenly opened and there stood a very worried and concerned Sam and Simon. Did her mother already tell Simon and then he tells Sam?
"What's happened?" Diana asked as she was shocked to see them looking worried.
"She got out, Camile has escaped and the word is she is on the hunt for you. Fear not though, she knows not of my estate and you are safe within these walls." Sam said coming to her side and holding her hand.
"How in the world did she managed to escape?"
"Not much is known, all they know is when they went to check on her there was only a dead guard in her cell missing his clothing." Simon answered.
Just knowing that, Diana had an idea of what had happened. Camile is crazy and she had no problem taking a life to make sure she got what she wanted. Simon came to Diana's side and sat down before her.
"Lord Barsham is right, there is no true reason to worry. She couldn't have gotten far, and the King sent out his best men to find her." Simon said trying to calm her nerves, it did not work.
"However, I will prepare a watch with some guards. Brendan please stay with her." Sam said as he made a quick exit.
Diana was in between a rock and a hard place. Now something was happening she had no control over...twice. She had been with both Simon and Sam and they both knew about one another and yes it was odd to her and she felt she would have to come clean because not only was her life the one at risk now.
"Please Diana, you and I could take her easily. The two of us are quite a team." Simon smiled.
"Well...not just the two of us anymore." Diana said trying to keep her tone light.
"I don't think Sam would be a great fighter, no offense to him but he would be better at getting you out of here if the worst came to be."
Shaking her head Diana took Simon's hand and gripped it lightly. He looked at her confused. Why was she acting odd? She had been acting for a moment but he wondered what would have caused it but he waited until she was ready to tell him.
"In our little family there is not just Sam, me and you." Diana hinted hoping Simon would conclude himself.
He still looked shocked. She took his hand and put it on her stomach and then he understood. His eyes went wide. He looked from her face to her stomach multiple times. There was a baby in there?! Who was the father was the first question he wanted to ask but he felt that now was not the time? Now he was guarding Diana and an unborn baby. Oh god what if Abigail found out?
"Your mother will kill us." Simon paled.
"She already knows, she was the one who took my blood and tested it. I just found out right before you came in with Sam." Diana said as she tried to hold back the tears in her eyes.
"You have to tell Sam, even if the child is mine, he needs to know it is not just you he is defending now." Simon said as he stood up and went to get Sam.
Instead of waiting, Diana followed him to try ad find Sam. Finally, they found him in the grand hall just finishing talking to who they assumed was the guard. Sam smiled and was about to walk past them, but Diana grabbed his hand and pulled him to her side.
"Your lady wife has news to tell you." Simon said as he bowed out and walked away.
"Are you ill? You have not been well the past few days." Sam was automatically concerned for his wife.
"I am with child." Diana said hoping she chose the right words.
"A baby? I am going to be a father. You will be a mother? Oh Diana!" He grinned as he picked her up and spun her around.
Sam finally sat her down and kissed her deeply on the lips. She did not think a male from this time era would be this happy to hear there was a baby on the way. He could not stop smiling and he held her close to him. If she thought he was a bit clingy before, she had no idea how he would be knowing the baby was on the way.
"You must write your cousin; she will be overjoyed." Sam smiled.
Diana nodded and took off. Simon came out and looked to Sam.
"Please my lord, forgive me for going above my station, she is the only woman you entertain in bed is she not?" Simon asked knowing this could go a good or a bad way.
"Brendan, that woman who carries our child has all of me. I have only been with her from the moment after I learned of her name. However, I fear I have kept a secret from her, one I will tell you, but you are not allowed to tell her unless the circumstances prove it needed." Sam said bringing Simon into the library.
Simon left the library not sure what to say. He was not sure if Sam truly understood what he was talking about, but he could keep his promise and not speak a word of it to anyone. However, he knew that Abigail and Fred had heard the conversation too.
Abigail appeared at Diana's side and watched as her daughter sighed.
"Mom, are you sure this is the right thing to do? A baby?" Diana questioned her mother.
"I had your brother on my first mission, granted it wasn't until the end but this maybe a blessing in disguise Diana. Do you not want the baby?" Abigail asked her daughter.
"I do, it's just everything happened so fast, I though the shots that were given to me prevented that." Diana spoke as she paced about the room.
"Not everything is 100% Diana, you know that just as well as any other agent." Abigail said as she took Diana and gave her a big hug. "It's not a bad thing, not planned is not the worst thing my dear. Please be careful."
Diana smiled and hugged her mother back. This was truly unexpected and she knew that, however she knew that the baby would bring something new to her life and that was something she looked forward to. Abigail kissed her daughters temple and disappeared.
