Mama Bear

What Abigail had just seen on screen made her livid. How the hell did Thomas Shelby know anything about her daughter?! All that information was classified, and she knew it. So how the hell did he get ahold of her file? Abigail burst out of the office and she was now on her way to records, leaving behind her husband John and a very shocked Fred.

"On a scale of 1 to 10 how pissed would you say she is?" Fred asked John who didn't look too happy himself.

"Off the scale, whoever gave that man my daughter's file is as good as dead." John replied as he then followed Abigail.

Pushing aside the doors to the records room, she went right to the charge agent and held them by the collar or their suit.

"Who the fuck took my daughters file and gave it to a damn gang member! Not just any gang member either! The leader of the fucking Shelby gang and believe me if you tell me you don't know, I will have you thrown out of this place so fast, you'll relive being born." Abigail threatened the agent.

Gulping the agent quickly typed Diana's name into the computer to find the last person who accessed the record. To his surprise he turned the screen so Abigail could see it. The name was one she hadn't heard of but if anyone could track this agent down, it was her.

"Katherine Hempsy. Was she ever in the same time period my daughter is in now?" She questioned the agent again and again the agent typed as fast as they could.

"Yes, about three days ago, however it wasn't authorized, and it wasn't her first trip there. Turns out she was there a little over a year ago doing close to the same mission your daughter is doing now. However she was found out by a Thomas Shelby and given the chance to return here or be killed. Maybe since he spared her, she owed him a favor, like maybe bringing a file of a new agent who just showed up?" the agent questioned, and Abigail nodded her head.

"That favor will cost her a job and maybe even a head." Abigail said as she turned and left the room.

Outside the room, she saw John waiting for her. He knew how tough his wife could be and he also knew not to get in the middle of anything when it came down to her finding things out about the children.

"Another idiot agent gave him the file, it was copy though, didn't show all of her training at least." Abigail sighed.

"What do we do? As much as I hate blackmail doesn't seem like Diana has much choice." John spoke up as he walked along with Abigail.

"She has to play along, this Shelby man has something for her. I can tell by the look in his eyes." Abigail spoke with confidence in her words.

"He just lost his wife, what look could he possibly have for our daughter?"

"The same look you had for me the first time we met, even if it takes a while I can almost guarantee you John that Thomas Shelby will fall for a time traveler, one that will have to break his heart in the end, if he doesn't kill her first." She spoke cautiously.

"We wouldn't let anything happen to her and plus Diana is a tough girl, Aro raised her well. As did we, she wont rush into anything with anyone." John tried to sound confident in his words but he knew how wild his daughter could be.

"She will do what she feels is right, the other two agents are useless, Hannah and Crissy at least would try to save me. Well Hannah would not Crissy but that's a different story. I am all the back up she had and honestly if I go in it would just make her loose confidence in her own abilities, I am trying to avoid that. It's not easy John but I know she can do it deep down. However I am going to have words with Agent Hempsy. She is screwed." Abigail said and then walked off determined with John following not too far behind.

"She's one of us? Since when and who says?" Aunt Pol questioned about Diana from the moment she stepped in the door.

"I did, I said and yes she's one of us. What was so urgent that it couldn't wait Pol?" Tommy asked as he sat down in the first chair he saw.

"Those coppers, I wanna know what the hell they were doing here and what they want?" Pol said her sight never leaving Diana's form.

"Just a raid, trying to find anything they could to put us behind bars." John said as if it were no big deal.

"That's all huh? Anyone get killed?"

"Not from this side." Diana mumbled to which Tommy chuckled.

"No one we need be concerned with." Tommy replied.

"Damn this business, don't forget Tommy we are checking in on the new reformed orphanage tomorrow, don't be late would ya." Pol said before she disappeared upstairs.

The rest of the family went their separate ways and once again Diana was left alone with Tommy. She had a feeling he was going to ask tons of questions, instead he took up the paper and began to read it. Maybe she could get away? The door wasn't too far away from her, turning ever so slightly she took one step only to hear Tommy.

"Where do you think you are going?" Tommy asked folding the paper down so he could see her.

"How much of that file did you read?" Diana questioned as she turned and looked at him.

"All of it, front and back." Tommy replied folding the paper up and putting it on the table.

"Then you know when I was born and how there is no way th-" Diana started but Tommy suddenly standing up startled her and made her step backwards right to a wall.

"Rome, yes I even saw the year of your birth. You are technically the eldest person in this whole damn country. You father was a Roman and your mother a time traveler, you took her place and became a time traveler as well. You are trained far better than anyone here so I see you as an asset." Tommy said as he walked up to Diana.

"An asset against my will, Mr. Shelby I highly doubt you want the public seeing me with you not so long after the death of your wife. It won't look good." Diana spoke with a soft voice.

"Do you really think I give a damn what people think?"

"Touché but what about what your family thinks. Time is what heals nothing else." Diana said as she brushed past him and walked to the door. "Once that time has passed I'll be here but until then, I won't stand by anyone's side, my mission is not only you."

With that Tommy Shelby let Diana walk out the door. He didn't know where she was going but something told him she would keep her word. Diana hugged herself as she walked to her apartment but barely got there when another portal opened, turning to it she saw John, her technically stepfather, on the other side motioning for her to follow him. Great, this was all she needed. Turning to the portal she stepped inside and was in the travel room.

"He knows about me mom." Diana admitted to Abigail.

"I know, we know who gave him the file and they are being dealt with." Abigail stated in monotone.

"Do I want to know?" Diana asked looking to John who then shook his head no. "Do I still play along?"

"Yes, however giving him time is a good idea, once that time is up though be prepared to do almost anything." Abigail warned her daughter.

"Yes Mom, I promise I will." Diana said as she hugged her mother who then smiled.

"You followed in my footsteps and you have never let me down, thank you Diana." Abigail said kissing the top of her daughter's head.

Diana felt like she was on her own, more or less. Heather and Fran were useless since both of them feared the Shelby's and at time refused to follow them. She kept away from the family gang but still heard about all their dealings. A year would be enough time and because Diana was an impatient person she decided to ask for what in her business they called a "time skip" this would allow her to go one year into the future. It was usually granted when there was a good reason and she would still see and summary of all the events that happened in the year she decided to skip. Not that she would really want to know everything. The request was simple, waiting for the answer not exactly.

"A year skipped? Jees what good would that do?" Fran complained as she looked at her freshly painted nails, they were blood red and Diana didn't want to ask why she chose that color so she kept silent.

"This way we could see what happens without getting harmed, right Diana?" Heather spoke up from cleaning the windows, a random task she loved to do.

"Something like that, it just is better for the mission. Especially since I am the only one to follow the Shelby's. You two would just resume the mission of your watch and report, I interfered so I will deal with it." Diana answered as she suddenly got a call from Fred.

"Diana Aro, a time skip request was processed under your name, the request has been granted. One year will past with the pressing on the small red button on the right side of your watch. Caution, you will arrive in the future in the exact place and time where your body would be in that new year. Whiplash is one of the side effects of this. Do you wish to continue?" Fred asked already knowing her answer.

"Yes Fred. Let's get this done." Diana told Fred as she went and pressed the little red button on her watch.

Time went by in a flash, she could see scenes that had happened in the year that the case deemed important. Other scenes she didn't need or want to see so she ignored them, closing her eyes and waiting for the end of the time skip.

"Red? You ok Red?" Arthur's voice shook her out of the time skip.

Opening her eyes, she looked around and saw she was in the Garrison. Arthur looking at her with much concern on his face. Blinking she shook her head and showed him a small but reassuring smile. She definitely didn't remember how she had got here but Arthur seemed surprised to see her there.

"You been gone close to a year, what brings you back?" he questioned as he put a glass before her but she shook her head politely.

"No thanks Arthur, I guess you could say I was just dropping in?" Diana retorted with a small smile, what kind of excuse was that?

Her blending in for the past year must have worked pretty well if no one had even seen her. Arthur nodded as he took the glass back. He turned back to talk to her when the door opened drawing everyone's attention to it. Tommy walked in with some girl right beside him. He was stoic as usual, but she highly doubted he would miss anything even in the year she 'disappeared'.

"Tommy, there you are. Thought you'd have been here hours ago." Arthur called out to his brother getting his attention.

The minute Tommy saw Diana, he pushed the unknown woman's arm from his and walked right up to Diana. More then likely he wanted to know how she disappeared without a trace for a year to the point where even he couldn't find her. The female companion he brought looked shocked but then smiled, playing off the situation as she went to find another man.

"Where the hell have you been?" Tommy questioned Diana in a whisper right into her ear.

That was an angry whisper and the he smelled worse than he did the day she met him. By smell she meant she could tell he had been drinking or quite a while and probably didn't put the bottle down for a long time. Turning she shook her head as she looked at him.

"That's classified Mr. Shelby. I gave you time as I said I would and now that time has passed, I have returned as I said. You can try to get anything out of me that you want but I don't think your little lassie will be missing you all too much." Diana said as she motioned to behind him.

Tommy paid no mind to her gesture as he starred her down.

"You disappeared, I thought you were dead."

"Not yet, there's rules against killing one of my kind. Be angry all you want. It won't change anything." Diana said as she returned his glare.

"You lot are drawing attention, take it in the back." Arthur sighed as he refilled his cup.

Tommy grabbed Diana's wrist and led her to the back of the Garrison.
