Eye to Eye

Diana licked her lips, bored with being questioned for the past three hours. They hadn't gotten anything out of her because she had been trained against being interrogated and it just became an annoyance to her. The Shelby men starred down at the red head who looked bored and un amused at their methods of trying to get her to talk. They'd done everything but take a hand to her and one of them were tempted on doing just that.

"How about a drink lass?" Arthur asked thinking maybe he could get her drunk and get information out that way.

"Don't drink, alcoholics die pretty fast if they drink too much and get siroccos of the liver." Diana sighed knowing more than likely they wouldn't have a clue what she was talking about.

"Maybe a smoke to help you relax?" John proposed just trying to get her to agree to something.

"Keep your cancer sticks to yourself, I prefer to keep my body longer than the age of 50." She sighed as she leaned back and looked at the ceiling. "What part of I don't know anything you people do, don't you understand. All I was trying to do was be helpful, trust me lesson is learned, I won't be helpful ever again."

"You're a hiding something." Tommy stated taking drag of his cancer stick as she called them.

"What would I have to hide? I am a bit outnumbered by the three of you so out of fear wouldn't a wise person confess?"

Just as Tommy was about to say something the lights went out. Well this wasn't a good sign. The men looked around while Diana just yawned. She didn't know what was about to happen but if it got her out of this predicament then she would go for it. The door busted down and a group of men flooded the room. There was shouting and cursing and then gunfire. Crap.

"Fred, uh little help please." Diana whispered and within a few second she heard his voice in her ear.

"Ring, mini laser, cut the ropes and help out. These people are wear masks for a reason. They can't see you for the moment so I'm switch you to your suit. Take em down red." Fred chuckled.

Using the laser, she cut herself free and jumped up she grabbed a pair of glasses attached to her belt and now night vision was in her power. Looking through the crowd she could see that the Shelby's were trying to hold their own but their was a gun point right at Tommy. Unwilling to let him die, since it was part of her job to keep him alive, she grabbed the mans arms and kicked him as hard as she could. The man groaned and tried to attack her but she kicked him right in the stomach and he fell out a window. Turning back she saw there were more men coming. This would not be easy, unless she did a time freeze to make them suddenly not have the upper hand. However she didn't get to call for one as she felt someone's hand on the back of her neck.

"Stay still or you die." She heard Tommy say no doubting thinking she was one of the assailants.

"Kill the person who has saved your ass more than once? Don't sound very grateful to me Mr. Shelby." Diana said hoping he didn't have good vision in the dark.

"Why stand before me, the man who took you from your home by force?" He said as he began to back up to the bar with her.

"Mr. Shelby, trying to tempt me to throw you to the sharks?"

"No, just stay still I can't protect you if your before me." He spoke pushing her behind him.

Shocked, she watched as he took aim and shot down as many men as he could. He obviously had no clue that Diana could see everything that was happening. How the hell were there so many men? Not to mention what the hell is going on? Who would attack the day after a funeral? However he was also trying to keep his brothers safe.

"Fred, guns please." Diana sighed in a soft whisper knowing she would have to help.

Two guns appeared on her hips. Grabbing them she stood further away from Tommy and took aim helping the other two brothers with their targets. Thanks to her never ending rounds it only took a few moments before the lights suddenly came back on. Fred saw this and Diana's guns disappeared and her clothes went back to those of the time. Quickly ducking to the ground beside the bar acting like she was hiding.

"Who the hell are they?" Arthur asked as he looked down at the bodies.

Tommy looked around for Diana and saw her hiding beside the bar with her hands over her ears no doubt to avoid the noise. She knew to play the damsel in distress this time, though she literally helped end the gun fight. Tommy went over and knelt to her. Gently shaking her she looked up at him with tears in her eyes.

"Is it over?" She mumbled as her tears started to flow.

"Yeah, its over." Tommy said looking around at the bodies on the ground.

"What happened?" she asked through her tears.

"You almost died, come on stand up." Tommy said offering her his hand.

Unsure but playing along, Diana took his hand as he helped her to stand up. Arthur sighed as he took off the mask and saw it was one of the local coppers. This was planned by the police? Even the cops hate them? Great, just great.

"Coppers, well that doesn't shock me." John scoffed.

"Can't seem to catch a break from anyone." Arthur stated. "Not even after a bloody funeral."

Tommy walked forward to talk to his brothers when Diana saw one of the masked men slowly move to get his gun. Looking to see his target was Tommy, she ran over and kicked the man in the face before kicking the gun away from his hand. All the men looked over at her and she shrugged.

"He was gonna shoot someone." She said as she walked to the door. "Not that this wasn't fun gentlemen but can I please go home? I prefer not to have my life taken tonight."

"No, they know you. Our enemies know who you are and they will want you dead." Tommy said walking behind the bar.

"I don't understand why, what worth am I to you and what do you care if they want to kill me?" Diana said not stuttering but going straight to the point.

"You don't need to worry about it, you'll work here, live here, anything you need will be right here." He retorted as he took a drink of the fresh drink her poured.

Arthur and John looked a bit shocked at their brother then looked to Diana who didn't look too happy with the idea. Walking over the dead men and up to the bar she looked Tommy right in the eyes.

"Mr. Shelby, I am certain you are use to owning anyone and anything you wanted, however I do not work for you and I am not in your circle for anything so if I die then I die but I wont be held prisoner by someone who claims they want to protect me. You don't know me, I don't know you, however the more people see you and I in the same vicinity then they will think there is something. I'd rather that not happen. You?" she asked wanting to know what he was getting at.

"Arthur, John give me a moment with Miss Diana alone. No harm will be done but I don't think she wants me to broadcast everything I know about her." Tommy spoke nicely to his brothers while he narrowed his eyes at Diana.

Arthur and John took the hint and left quickly. Unsure what to do, Diana sat down on a stool and waited for him to tell her what he knew about her. Not that she felt he truly knew anything. Tommy took another drink as he pulled out a pile of papers and put them before her. Looking at the title page she saw her name DIANA ARO. Her eyes widened.

"You aren't the only one with contacts that aren't exactly in this time." Tommy said as he looked at her. "Eldest child of Abigail but of course Abigail has no name, your last name in fact was your father's first name. Aro, of Rome. Still didn't understand that much. Let me put it like this lass, I know a hell of a lot about you more than likely just like you know about me. For the same reason you don't want me dead or caught, is the same reason I don't want you dead or caught, understand?" Tommy said as he took the papers in his hand. "Do what I say and we both stay alive, as for this I will burn it now so no one else will know the truth about you only if we have a deal. Do we have a deal Diana?"

Damn this man, how in the hell had he gotten my file? She knew deep down she didn't have a choice and more than likely he already had memorized everything about her from that file.

"Deal Mr. Shelby." She groaned.

"Call me Tommy, you are under my protection now Red." He smiled offering her his hand, to shake on the deal.

She laughed as she took his hand and shook it.

"At least you didn't make me seal it with a kiss." She chuckled.

However that made him pull her right to him and just as Arthur walked in again Tommy was in a lip lock with Diana. Realizing this, Diana pushed him off earning a chuckle from Tommy.

"Sorry, Aunt Pol called, she wants to see everyone. Even Red." Arthur sighed running his hand through his hair. "You two alright?"

"Bloody brilliant." Diana sighed walking to the door not looking back at Tommy.
