Chapter Six

"We should go watch a film," Zayn practically yelled at Niall, who had his arm slung around Debby's shoulders. Smiling, the blonde-haired boy shook his head like a maniac, jumping out of the booth - a russle of groans coming from his friends who he trampled over - and hopped over to Liam and Diana, who weren't speaking, let alone even looking at each other.

"Enjoy lunch?" Niall asks, smiling a wide grin at Diana, but soon dropping it when she doesn't even spare him a glance. Looking over to Liam with his eyebrows crinkled, he nudges his head towards the girl in question, only receiving a wary look from his doe-eyed friend in return.

"Well," Niall begins again, trying to start conversation as he stood by their booth, hands on his sweater-clad hips, "we've decided to go watch a film. I'm thinking lots of popcorn - extra buttery - and an action movie. How's it?"

"That sounds awesome," Liam grins at his friend as he stands up, contemplating whether or not he should nudge Diana since she looked lost in her thoughts, when she looked up at him in question. Realizing Niall was stood beside him, she shot him a tiny grin.

"What's happening?" Diana asks them, her eyebrows crinkling together.

"Niall here just came to bare some news," Liam begins with a solemn expression, moisture brimming his eyes "our puppy back home passed away. I'm absolutely devastated." He didn't know why he said that, since he tended to say stupid crap around her, but he did, only to receive a loud chuckle and a hit in the side from his Irish mate.

"Actually, we're all going to the movies," Niall states with a grin plastered on his face. The guys was always grinning.

"Oh," Diana simply replies, gathering her things and pulling out her wallet, until Liam intruded.

"What are you doing?" He asks, his eyes piercing into hers. Shooting him a puzzled look, she gestures to her empty bowl then her wallet.

"Paying for my food," she replied.

Liam laughs, then digs through his pocket for his wallet and laying 20 quid on the table, shooting her a smile when she tried to protest. "Nope, I'm paying. I ordered, I pay," he states, chuckling when he sees her eyebrows furrow.

"Fine," Diana begins as she get out of the booth, "but I'm paying for you next time." Liam can only smile in return as his heart flips. There was going to be a next time.

"Are we all going in the van?" Diana asks, watching her breath - or, the carbon dioxide - mingle with the cold air and turn into fog. Fixing her beanie, she looks up at Liam who had his fist buried in his pockets, a thoughtful expression on his face.

"Nope, the theatre is just down the street," he replies. Nodding, Diana continues to follow the group, focusing on her breathing and not tripping over the cracks in the sidewalk, or even better, her own feet. Attempting to push the bad thoughts out of her mind - the feeling of fullness instead of emptiness in her stomach - she continued to trudge behind the group, her eyes wandering from the sky to Liam periodically.

To tell you the truth, she was quite surprised he paid for her lunch - and had lended her his sweater. Even though she knew he was a nice lad (with quite a few PMS moments) she never thought he'd be so genuinely caring. The gesture also scared her, since it only made her think he knew about her secret even more. No one had ever pushed her to eat - not even Debby - so it frightened her. It truly did.

"You alright there, Diana?" Harry comes from behind her, wrapping his arm around her shoulders. Shooting him a small smile and nonchalantly pushing him away, she laughs and mutters a quiet yes.

"What movie do you guys wanna watch?" Louis asked the group as they entered the small theatre, which was surprisingly vacant, and continued towards the ticket booth.

"This Is Us!" Zayn screams, flailing his arms around - in attempts to appear as a ballerina - and tried to pirouette, only to fall on the ground.

"Nah, I heard those guys are a bunch of dicks," Harry replies, a small dimply smile on his face. The kid was cheeky, Diana though to herself.

"Hmm," Debby rests her finger on her chin, looking up at the array of movies on the schedule board. "How about, Carrie?"

"Isn't that a scary movie?" Niall quips, an array of popcorn and licorice in his arms.

"Yes, Niall," Louis replies, a smug expression on his face. "Why? Are you scared?" He taunts his friend, ruffling his hair up until he looked like a psychotic kid with a candy obsession standing in the middle of a theatre lobby.

"No," he mutters before stuffing a handful of licorice in his mouth and trotting away.

"How about a cartoon?" Diana inquires, all eyes setting on her.

"That's a great idea," Liam answers, a warm smile enveloping his features.

And then they all went off into the theatre to watch a re-run movie of Pocahontas, which was Diana's favourite and apparently Liam's as well, laughing and booing throughout the movie. The boys and Debby couldn't help but continue to shoot glances at Liam and Diana, catching the tiny smiles and prolonged glances shot towards one another.

 *************************************

"Did you have fun?" Debby asks, peering down at Diana with a smile that could light up the world.

"Yeah, of course I did," she replies. Looking around the vacant theatre lobby, she's  overcame with a dizziness much like the ones she often had when she was empty, except this time she was full of food. Shutting eyes and leaning on Debby, Diana doesn't notice Liam urgently walking towards her.

"What's wrong?" Liam asks Debby, who was attempting to keep her friend standing.

"I don't know, we were talking and all of a sudden she grabbed on to me," the red head urgently replies. Watching Diana's complexion pale by the second, Liam shoots Debby a look and grabs on to Diana, holding her in her arms and sliding down the wall.

"She's faint," Liam explains when he sees Debby's appalled expression. "My mom get's it all the time. Has she ever done this before?"

"Not that I know of," Debby urgent answers, her eyebrows furrowing as she bit her nails. "Should I go get the boys?"

Liam nods in reply as she walk towards the arcade to notify the guys as to what happened. Watching Diana's eyes flutter, Liam attempts a smile.

"Hey," he whispers, pushing a frenzy of hair out of Diana's eyes.

"Hi," she croaks, her eyes still fluttering.

"You alright?" Liam asks, his eyebrows furrowed.

"Hmm," Diana groans back as she nestles into Liam's hold, not realizing what she was doing. Laying his hand on top of her forehead, Liam's eyebrows furrow further.

"You've got a fever, Diana. Why didn't you tell us you weren't feeling well?" His eyes urgently scower over her face, taking in how pale she looked.

"I.." she trails off when her vision begins to clear, her eyes focusing on his face. "I don't know," Diana finally replies. Shooting Liam a panicked look, she starts to struggle in his arms.

"Diana," Liam tightens his arms around her, "you have a fever. Stop," they both continue to struggle until Diana surrenders. Blowing blonde hair out of her eyes, she shoots the brown haired boy a glare.

"Can't you just let go of me?" She snaps at him, her blue eyes piercing his. Shocked and angry, Liam glowers down at her until he speaks up.

"Fine," he snaps back, ruffling a hand through his hair and letting go of her, standing up and leaning against the wall. "Happy?"

"Ecstatic," Diana sarcastically remarks, attempting to get off the ground. Her vision was still obscured with little fireflies floating around, but she felt accomplished once she was standing - or, leaning - against the wall beside Liam.

Taking in his stance, she noticed how uptight and tense his posture suddenly was. His eyebrows were furrowed, and he was glaring at the carpet with such intensity, it even made her uncomfortable.

"You know," she begins, "the carpet might catch fire if you continue to glare at it like that." Snapping his eyes to hers, Liam grunts before moving his eyes to the group rushing towards them.

"Are you alright?" Debby screams at Diana, who rolled her eyes in return. People worry way too much.

"Just dandy," Diana smirks at all of them, who were looking at her with worried eyes - all except Liam, who had wandered off towards a Smurfs poster. "You guys are worry warts. It's not like I died, I just got up too fast when the film ended," she nonchalantly lies, hoping they'd all believe her.

"We thought Debby had gone bonkers when she started screaming at us back there." Louis explained, a tiny grin on his face as Harry swung his arm around his shoulders.

"Hey," Debby yells in return as she lugged around her super-size Dr. Pepper, "you were all goofing off when she fainted. Not my fault you're imbeciles."

"Guys," Zayn cuts in the small banter, his voice filled with urgency. Looking around, he gestured towards the entry doors of the cinema, "I'm pretty sure Liam just left."

"Not again," Niall groans when the boys all capture one another's attention. Furrowing her eyebrows at them, Diana attempts to understand the situation.

"He was over there," she points over to the poster Liam was standing at prior to his disappearance, "just a moment ago. I don't see the problem, anyway. He's a twenty year old man. He can take care of himself," Diana states, fixing her beanie on her head and grasping her bag from the dirty carpeted ground.

"Actually," Harry inputs, "that's where you're wrong," he mutters, shuffling away from Louis and stuffing his hands into his pockets.

"What do you mean?" Diana rolls her eyes at their worried expressions, even though she couldn't help but feel a little worried herself.

"When Liam disappears like this, we can't find him for hours. It's a fucking goose chase," Zayn explains, whipping out his cell phone from his leather jacket and furiously dialing numbers.

"Great," Diana mutters. Catching Debby's stare, it seemed as though her friend was trying to tell her something through telekinetic power waves - something neither of them acquired.

"Zayn, call security," Louis instructs his raven-haired friend. "Harry and I'll go look through the parking lot," he states, before grabbing a hold of the curly-haired boy's hand and trudging off at a violent speed.

"Girls," Niall begins, "did Liam say anything before he left?" His worried gaze penetrates into Diana's, who was casually leaning against the wall and inspecting her nails.

"Nope," she replies, popping the 'p' and warily looking away. He did say something, but she wasn't going to admit she most likely was the reason for his disappearance.

Looking up at Niall and Debby, she notices their annoyed expressions and rolled her eyes. "Look, he's the one who got butt-hurt over nothing," Diana explains.

"What do you mean?" Zayn steps into the conversation when he gets off the phone.

"I told him to let go of me," Diana begins in a monotonous voice, "and he snapped. It's not my fault," she tells them. her eyes resting on anything but them.

"He was just trying to help," Debby snaps back at her friend. Snapping her eyes to her red-haired best friend, she scoffs.

"Are you kidding me?" She inquires, her voice louder than before. Trudging towards her Debby, Diana stops when their noses are close to touching.

"You're the one who's always pressuring me into hanging out with them," Diana pauses to point at the two boys standing beside them, "I got you to meet them. In this whole ordeal, I never once agreed to hang out with them. My god," she grunts, staring at her bewildered friend until a baritone voice calls out for them. Turning away from Debby, Niall and Zayn, she see's Harry waving at them.

Cupping his hands around his mouth, he yells, "we found him!" Causing Niall, Zayn and Debby to run towards him, leaving Diana behind - for once, thank the lord.

Puffing a few wisps of blonde hair out of her face and adjusting her beanie, Diana walks at a normal pace behind the running lunatics, until they ran out the entry doors out of her sight. Huffing with frustration, she picks up her pace and walks out of the cinema, only to be met with the car she had come in, driving off with the people she had come with, not even sparing her one last glance.
