Chapter 6

What was I supposed to do now? I went and messed up one of my only friendships with a stupid ass kiss.

"Diana. It's dinner time." My mom said, stepping into my room.

"I'm not hungry." I told her, closing my door in her face.

I sat down on my bed and hugged one of my pillows to my chest. A tentative knock sounded from my door and I threw the pillow at it.

"Leave me the hell alone!" I yelled.

"I just wanted to talk."

It was Liam. Oh God. I looked down at my old t-shirt and shorts.

"Hold on." I called, yanking off my shirt and pulling on a tank top instead.

I walked over to the door and opened it a crack. I felt like a toddler as I nervously looked up at his face, my long hair spilling down my shoulders.

"Can I come in?" He whispered.

I answered by pulling the rest of the door open and closing it behind him.

"I'm sorry." I mumbled, kicking at a balled up sketch on the floor.

"Why? It's not like I have a girlfriend." He shrugged.

"You don't?" I asked. "What about that girl....Sammie?"

"Sophia. And no." He told me.

"Well I didn't think you were interested and honestly I wasn't sure what I was thinking." I said.

"I am interested but I want to get to know you better." Liam smiled.

"That could work." I smirked.

"Cool. Well, I have to go. A few friends are coming over." He explained.

"Okay. I'll see you later." I replied.

Liam gave me a small wave and walked out. I'm glad that he's interested but being in a relationship with someone like him is completely new to me.

All my life I've been an outcast, and only dated outcasts. Liam is liked by everyone. He's a freaking pop star for God's sake!

I can't even imagine the media. "Her hair is too purple!" or "She's weird!". I mean I can defend myself, don't get me wrong, but I shouldn't have to.

"Sorry, I forgot something." Liam said, walking back in the room.

"What is it?" I asked.

Liam stepped forward and wrapped me in a hug. I gave him a hug back and he tightened his arms around me.

"I want to take 'us' slow." Liam whispered, pulling away and looking into my eyes.

"Okay." I replied.

~~~
"I need to talk to you." Caroline said, stepping in front of me after I closed my locker.
"What do you want?" I asked, pushing past her small frame and heading towards my next class.
"I know the only reason you're mad at Sam is because of me. News flash: I can make your life a living hell again unless you make up with him." She told me.
"What the hell are you even talking about?" I demanded, stopping dead in my tracks.
"He has barely said a word to me, or anybody since you two have been fighting and if he breaks up with me, I'm blaming it on you. Keep in mind, I have a lot of power at this school Diana."
Caroline turned around and walked in the opposite direction.
"Shit!" I screamed, kicking the lockers.
The late bell rang and I rushed into my math class.
"Diana you're late." Mrs. Sterr said when I walked in.
"I realize." I snapped, taking my usual seat in the back.
"That's your third time this week. Detention."
"Whatever. Asshole." I mumbled.
I knew she heard me but it was smart for her to ignore it. If she would've said one more thing to me I would've probably flipped out.
I couldn't stop thinking about what Caroline said to me. I knew she was never going to give up torturing me. I just kind of hoped that Sam would dump her before she could go and ruin my life again. I lost so many friends because of her and I'm not planning on letting Sam fall for her stupid little tricks.
~~~

"Hello?"

"Sam? It's me. I need to talk to you. Can I come over?" I asked, pulling on my boots.

"Yeah sure."

We both hung up and I opened my window as usual to sneak out. I climbed down the branch I had been using the past couple of days and ran across the damp grass to Sam's house.

I rang the doorbell and waited for somebody to answer.

"Diana? Hello dear!" Mrs. Judy exclaimed.

Sam's mom gave me a hug and rushed me inside.

"I take it you're here to see Sam?" She asked.

"Yes ma'am." I replied.

Sam's mom was probably the only adult I will ever respect. She's always liked me, dispite my differences and we've always gotten along.

"He's up in his room." Mrs. Judy smiled, walking back into the living room.

I took the steps two at a time and found myself standing outside Sam's door. I knocked twice before I heard him say "come in".

"Hey." I whispered, closing the door behind me.

"What do you need to tell me?" Sam asked, his back to me as he worked on a paper.

"Caroline talked to me today." I replied.

Sam turned around and squinted at me.

"Really?" He answered, standing up and walking over to me. "What did she say?"

That she would make my life a living hell if I didn't make up with you because she's too desperate to lose you. I thought.

"She said that she's sorry and thinks we should make up." I lied.

"I've really missed having you around. Who've you been hanging out with lately?" He replied, shoving his hands in his pockets.

"Mostly Liam." I shrugged.

"Liam?" Sam asked, shaking his head.

"What's wrong with Liam?" I defensively asked.

"I've just been reading some stuff online and he seems like a real jerk."

"And you're not?" I snapped.

"Woah, calm down. You're not...seeing him are you?" Sam hissed.

"What? No." I said, lying again.

"Really? Because the fact that you kissed him begs to differ!" He shouted.

"What does it matter to you anyway? You've got a girlfriend of your own to worry about!" I yelled back.

"Because I-"

"Because you what?" I screamed.

"Because I'm in love with you!"

~~~~~
My power just went out :(
Stupid snow.
Please vote, comment and what not.
I want to give my friend a little shoutout! I haven't seen her since yesterday and probably won't for the rest of the week. I love you!!
