Chapter 3
"So Liam, you're in a band?" Sam asked, shoveling yogurt into his mouth.
"Of course he is! One Direction duh!" Caroline smacked his arm.
"It's not that big of a deal. I'm just a normal guy." Liam insisted.
I can't listen to this shit. Who cares if he's in some gay ass band? I sure as hell don't. Caroline continued to run her big ass mouth about some kid named Harrison or something.
"Diana?" Caroline asked, snapping her fingers in front of my face.
"What? What the hell do you want?" I answered, snapped from my thoughts.
"I was just going to ask if you listen to One Direction. Don't be a bitch about it." She huffed, crossing her arms over her flat-as-hell chest.
"Oh don't even start with me you sorry ass whore." I shot back.
Sam sent me and angry glare, begging me to stop. We all know I could kick her ass.
"I thought we were past fighting!" She shouted, standing up.
"I'm not so sure." I argued, standing and easily towering over her small five foot frame.
"Guys stop." Sam warned.
"Call off your slut ass hoe first." I challenged.
"I knew it was stupid to try and be nice to you. You're a damn ass." Caroline told me.
I took a step towards her and Sam stood up, rushing to her aid.
"You're coming with me." Liam mumbled in my ear, pulling me away from where Sam was trying to calm Caroline down.
I didn't question when Liam yanked up his hood and led me down the busy street. We wove in and out of groups of people and couples. A few girls stopped and gave me weird looks so I just sent them the middle finger.
"Here we are." Liam smiled.
I looked up at the big sign above our heads.
"Bowling?" I scoffed.
"It's not just bowling." He said, rolling his eyes.
"It sure smells like bowling." I mumbled as a drunk couple stumbled out.
Liam rolled his eyes again and pulled me inside.
"I'm here to see Mark." Liam told the woman at the desk.
"He's in the back." She lazily pointed to a closed door.
I followed Liam down the narrow hallway. We passed pictures of famous bands: The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Beatles. Liam stopped in front of The Beatles's picture and looked at it.
"I hope we make it as big as them one day." He whispered, his British accent thick.
"As big? You guys are bigger. I know who you are and trust me I don't listen to any of that pop shit." I replied.
"I don't know." Liam said, scrunching his nose.
I found the door labeled "Mark" and pointed to it. Liam came up behind me, trying to get by in the small space. Liam knocked twice and a middle aged man appeared at the door.
"Liam." The man greeted, engulfing Liam in a a hug.
The boy has been here for what? Three days? The fact he already has friends isn't surprising under the circumstances.
"Mark this is Diana." Liam said, as Mark extended his hand to shake mine.
I filed behind Liam as he walked into Mark's office. I was shocked at how big the office was. A tall table sat off to the side with stools surrounding it, multiple couches and chairs were placed in front of the T.V. and a complete kitchen somehow fit in the the room too.
"What can I get for you?" Mark asked, wiping down the table.
"Two slices of cherry pie." Liam told him.
"Pie?" I whispered.
"The best." Liam smiled.
I rolled my eyes as Mark put a plate in front of us. Liam took a bite of his and mumbled to Mark how good it was.
"You gonna try it?" Mark looked at me with expectant eyes.
I nodded and put a bite in my mouth. The cherry flavor was sweet and Liam was absolutely right when he said it was the best.
"Your phone is ringing." Liam told me in between bites of pie.
I put my fork down and saw Lucas was calling.
"Hey." I answered.
"Mom and dad want you home now." He said.
"Fine."
I hung up and slipped my phone in my back pocket. It fell and clattered against the floor.
"Shit." I cursed as I bent down to pick it up.
As my hand made contact with my phone I felt something sticky hit my head.
"Oops." Liam giggled.
"Oh you didn't." I replied, sitting up as warm pie slid down my back.
I grabbed a handful of pie and threw it at Liam. It him square in the nose and left a red spot in it's wake.
"Oops." I smirked.
Liam smiled and threw another piece at me, this one hitting my shirt. I tossed a second piece and when it hit his hair I took it as my moment to run. I yanked what was left on my plate off and ran for the door. I sprinted down the hallway and towards the exit. Liam was shouting my name behind me as I ran for my neighborhood.
"Shit!" Liam yelled.
I heard a loud crash and slowed down as I looked behind me.
"Are you okay?" I asked, walking over to him.
"I think I sprained my ankle." He replied, what had been left of my pie scattered across his shirt.
I offered him my hand and he grasped it. Liam smirked and dropped a handful of pie on my neck. This piece found it's way down the front of my shirt and I felt my eyes widen in horror.
"Thanks." He smiled.
I could only imagine the look on my face when he took off, running the last 50 yards to my house.
"You bastard!" I laughed, chasing him down the street.
I finally caught up to him and tackled him to the ground.
"That was so much better than a double date with Caroline." I giggled, brushing some grass off my pants.
"Definitely." Liam agreed.
"Diana Claire Matthews." My mom hissed.
I scrambled to my feet and looked at Liam. He followed my actions of hastily standing and my mom looked back and forth between us.
"This is Liam." I introduced.
"Yes I know his parents are inside having dinner." She whispered. "a What will they think when they see you two covered in...."
"Pie. It's pie." I told her.
"Get inside this instant. As for Liam he can go home and get cleaned up or come inside." My mom answered, crossing her arms.
"Fine. Whatever the hell you want." I said, stomping inside and up to my room.
