Chapter 17

"Are you thirsty? Here." Danielle said, forcing a cup of water at Liam.

"The only one who's thirsty is yo-"

"Diana." Liam warned, thanking Danielle and taking the cup.

"Danica, can Liam and I please have a word. Alone." I snapped, watching as she nodded her perfectly curled, brown hair.

 Stupid bitch.

"Liam, I can't do this. I can't deal with her. She's pushing my buttons the same way Caroline did and I really can't take anymore of her shit. She obviously wants you back and is willing to do anything to achieve that, but so am I...even if that means I have to hit her and risk a ton of news reports." I hastily whispered, slamming that stupid cup of water on the table.

"Look Diana, you're the only one I want right now. I don't like Danielle, but I'm not going to be rude and force her away. Like it or not, she's my friend, but guess what? You're my girlfriend, I love you, and that's all that matters." He told me, smiling that little smug smile of his.

 Mhm.

"I love you too...I guess." I replied, laughing when he pulled me onto the bed beside him and tickled me, making me squeal and beg for him to stop.

He bent down and placed a single kiss on my lips, using his hand to cup my cheek.

 "Ahem."

I glanced up only to find that barbie look alike standing in the doorway, a big smile plastered to her face. I slowly climbed off of the small bed, my eyes never leaving Dakota's.

"A nurse stopped and told me you would be released tomorrow, so I thought that was some good news I could share." She said, prancing over to Liam and taking his hand in hers. "We can get dinner and catch up."

"Danielle, look, you're my friend, and I'm glad you're here for me, but right now I'm with Diana and there is nothing I want to do to put that in jeopardy." Liam told her, pulling his hand out of hers.

"I wasn't...I didn't mean..." Danielle stuttered, her cheeks becoming red. "I'm going to go."

"That's probably a good idea." I mumbled, as she rushed past me.

"You know, she told me something about you the other day when you were in the bathroom." Liam said, propping himself up on his pillow.

"Oh yeah, and what was that?" I asked, sitting in the horribly uncomfortable chair by his bed.

"That she had seen pictures of you and Zayn out together, kissing and holding hands." He shrugged.

"Oh my God, Liam. You don't actually believe her do you?" I scoffed.

"No, I was just letting you know."

"Crazy bitch." I mumbled, rolling my eyes.

I woke up earlier than Liam the next morning, stretching my back and trying to keep quiet as I walked silently out of the room. I walked past the desk with the moody secretary, and outside the double doors, fulfilling a ritual I started the other morning when I got bored.

You know, it's hard to realize how many One Direction fans there are that are so similar to me. They are all so excited one of them has a girlfriend like them, they don't know what to do with themselves so they freak out. They wait outside buildings and stalk buses, for what? To catch a glimpse of the back of Niall's head? It isn't fair for them and I didn't get any of that until a few days ago.

I took a pen out of the small mug that read "Best Nurse!" and walked outside. A few huddles of girls stood outside, wrapping their jackets and blankets tight around them as the morning breeze picked up.

"Hey, guys look!" A girl smiled, causing the rest of the girls to turn around and smile.

"Hi." I answered, walking over to the now single group of girls.

"Are you actually going to willingly sign stuff for us?" One girl asked, her blue eyes wide.

"Yeah. I've been coming out to do it the past couple of days. I even got Liam to sign a few things." I told them, watching them all start smiling and whispering with friends.

"Can I get a picture with you?" The first girl called, stepping out of the group to reveal herself.

 "Of course." I replied.

That's how the rest of the hour went: sign an autograph, take a picture, hand out something signed by Liam and repeat. By the time I was done, and back inside, Liam was already awake. I walked into his room, about to tell him how everything went, when I saw Danielle sitting in a chair by his bed, and paused outside the door. They seemed to be having a very quiet and secretive conversation, so I knew better than to walk in.

"Here." Danielle whispered, passing her phone to Liam. "I really didn't want you to find out like this but there was nothing I could do."

Liam paled and slumped back, defeated, onto the pillow.

"I don't know what to say." He sighed.

"Well, let me know how it goes." She said, standing up and giving him a hug before walking in the direction of the door.

I rushed behind a vending machine and watched Daisy walk away, her heels clicking obnoxiously on the floor. I hesitated before entering Liam's room, the air still felt thick with tension. I sat down beside his bed and smiled.

"You okay?" I asked, resting my hand on his.

"No." He replied, jerking his hand away.

 "Liam, what's wrong?"

"You know what's wrong." He told me, looking in the opposite direction.

"No, I really don't. Tell me. What happened?" I demanded, making him look at me.

"You and Zayn. That's what happened." Liam mumbled, crossing his arms.

"What the hell are you talking about?" I scoffed.

"The pictures of you and Zayn. I'm not an idiot Diana, Danielle showed me the pictures and Zayn confirmed it. How could you do something like this to me?" He answered, running his hands through his hair and resting them on his face, covering it.

"What pictures? Liam, I swear to you that I've only met Zayn once, and that was a couple of months ago. You have nothing to be worried about." I reassured, trying to take his hands away from his face.

"I saw the pictures of you two kissing, okay? You don't have to hide it anymore."

"Liam, there's such a thing as photo-shop. Danielle has been jealous of our relationship since she got here and she's just trying to-"

"Stop. Just stop, Diana. I trust her too much to sit here and listen to you accuse her of this." Liam said, tears pooling in his brown eyes.

"Wait, so you're going to take her word for it, and not even give me a chance? Do you really trust her more than me?"

I waited for Liam to answer, but he just sat there. He opened his mouth like he was going to say something but closed it quickly, hesitating to answer me.

"That's all I needed to know." I snapped, standing up and striding towards the door.

The worst feeling in the world is feeling anger instead of sadness. I'm so upset, so sad and angry that Liam thinks he can't trust me, but I can't seem to make my body cry. I want to cry and run home, burying my face in m pillow but I can't. I won't give Danielle the satisfaction of seeing me upset at what she did to me. I'm going to get over it and move on.

If Liam didn't want to trust me, then that's on him. All I'm saying, is that when he finally comes to his senses and realizes I was right all along, I might be gone. Long gone with somebody else. Somebody who can really trust me and treat me the way I'm supposed to be treated.
