Chapter 16

I could feel the burning bright sunlight on my eyelids, as I willed my eyes to open. I stretched my arms above my head and pulled my purple hair down from it's messy ponytail. Liam was sleeping peacefully, his cheek pressed against the white pillow.

I reached my hand forward, to trace the outside of his eyelids but thought otherwise and quickly retracted my hand.

What is happening to me?

One minute I'm tough and ready to freaking MURDER Caroline, and the next I'm under some spell around Liam.

It's like I have a split personality.

Liam stirred in his sleep, rolling over onto his other side and pulling his blanket over his head.

I smiled and stood up, pointing my toes in another stretch. All those pointless years of ballet practice are finally coming in handy. I walked quietly towards the door and slipped outside. On my way out, I bumped into a doctor, causing him to spill his coffee all over me.

"Shit." I mumbled, pulling at my now hot, damp t-shirt.

"I'm so sorry." He said, using a napkin in his hands to wipe at my shirt.

"Okay, buddy. Slow down." I sighed, taking the napkin from him. "We just met and you're already touching my stomach. Thanks for making this awkward."

"I-I-I'm sorry. I swear I didn't mean to, I just-"

"It's fine. Do you know where I might be able to get a spare shirt?" I asked, cutting him off.

"I'm new, so no. But ask the secretary she might know."

"Okay, thanks." I said, walking in the other direction and away from that socially retarded doctor.

I rounded the corner and saw the same, annoying secretary from yesterday.

"Do you know where I might be able to get a new shirt?" I asked her, leaning over the desk to locate her small frame.

"Try Target." She snorted, going back to her computer.

"I'm serious, blondie." I replied, finger combing my hair.

"So am I." She snapped, obviously still angry from my comments yesterday.

I rolled my eyes and walked past her desk and towards the lobby. I knew that Liam was a late sleeper, so I figured I had an hour or so to get to Target and then get back. Plus, factor in the the fact that Liam and I stayed up until two last night, working out our relationship title, I might even have two hours.

I pulled my sweatshirt over my head and walked briskly to my car. I was thankful to see that there was not a mass of girls standing outside, when I rushed to my car.

I turned on the radio when I got in and laughed when another station was talking about me.

I pulled into the Target parking lot and got out, slowly making my way to the double doors.

"Hi." A girl greeted, her brown hair swinging over her shoulder.

"Hey." I replied, grabbing a grey v-neck shirt off a hanger and starting towards the register.

"Aren't you Diana?" She asked, following behind me.

"Yeah." I mumbled, handing the old woman at working the register a crumpled up twenty.

"I'm Danielle. Liam's ex." She answered, reaching her hand out to shake mine.

I extended my hand and met hers halfway. I have to admit, I was slightly

confused at why she was approaching me if she was his ex. I assume things ended pretty messily with him being so famous.

"I know you're probably wondering why I would approach you."

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm wondering.

"But I just wanted to send him my best wishes. I heard what happened and it's been a while since we talked." She continued.

"Well, the hospital he's staying at is right down the street if you want to follow me there. I'm sure he would he happy to see you." I replied, taking my shirt and my change and walking to the bathroom to change.

"That would be great! I'll just grab what I need and meet you outside." Danielle said, a smile spreading over her face.

I rolled my eyes and walked into an open stall. Why the hell was I inviting this ditzy girl along with me? What gave me this wonderful idea?

I pulled the shirt down over my head and stopped to look at myself in the mirror: my hair was messy and tangled, my dark eye makeup smeared and my eyes slightly bloodshot and tired. I took a paper towel and wiped at my makeup before lining my eyes again. I also used my small brush to comb through my hair and pull it up into a bun.

Much better.

I walked out of the bathroom and waited for Darcy to finish paying.

"Okay, lead the way." She said, another smile overtaking her face.

This girl was giving me a headache.

I pulled my car around the parking lot and watched as her silver Toyota followed behind me. A few miles later, we were back at the hospital, accept this time there were girls. A lot of them.

"Oh my God, can't these girls get a new obsession?" I groaned, meeting Delilah outside my car.

"Yeah they're very persistent." She laughed, getting in front of me and walking right through the girls.

I tried to follow, but found it very annoying when they would try and touch you. How the hell did Dani deal with it?

"Danielle, sign my forehead!" Some girl screamed.

Wow, I've been saying her name wrong this whole time...oh well.

I showed Danielle the room Liam was in and we walked in together.

"Diana." He smiled, as I walked in first.

"Um, I found her at target." I mumbled as his ex basically skipped in.

Stupid, happy bi-

"Hi Danielle." Liam greeted, sitting up a little straighter.

"Good morning Liam, how are you feeling?" She replied, giving him a kiss on the cheek.

I watched silently as he replied and she nervously tucked her hair behind her ears. She acted like she was a twelve year old girl talking to her crush...

Oh wait.

"I'm gonna go get some water." I said as Danielle and Liam continued to talk.

I would've never brought her here if I thought it would spark old flames. Liam and I had just worked out whether we wanted to be an actual couple or not and I was not going to let this chick mess it all, because against all odds, Liam and I decided to go public.

We were officially dating as long as this skinny, perfect little ex doesn't ruin it.
